I am so lost and overwhelmed!
joysuz1498 replied to mom2cjpx4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand ur feeling of being lost and overwhelmed. I was banded on 11/30/09. I was given darvacet for pain and it was hopeless. I had to crush the pill and then take it. That totally made me gag. I called my Dr back and he gave me liquid loritab and antinausea meds. I would totally recommend some mild of magnesea for the constipation. I let mine go tooo long and Oh Lord it was awful. I too could not bend and it seemed like everything that i needed was in the floor somehow. I found a lot of comfort in my recliner with a small couch pillow on my left side and a bed pillow in my lap. For about 10 days post op I needed to hold my port site to bend over slowly. I can say today 2 weeks post op I am bending fine. It seems to me the Gas pain is the killer. I took Gas X strips and many of them. I had trouble sleeping in the bed for about a week too. I put a heating pad on my left shoulder for a few days. When u do pass gas it will be heaven. What a crazy thing to say but you will understand. My Dr's rules on food were a strict liquid diet (I ate jello, broth and popsicles. I was allowed to have full sugar popsicles and Jello. My Dr said that the sugar would help. I got very weak about 5 days in and he told me to have a protein shake to hold me over. I did the Bariatric Advantage Shakes. I hated them preop but that day it was as good as a Frosty:) I hate to hear that you are feeling hungry I guess I was lucky that I didn't feel any hunger at all. Bless ur heart I hope you get to feeling better soon. Don't hesitate to call your Dr. I also found some great eating ideas on the Lapband website and the Realize site is very helpful also. i am learning that everyone has a different experience with their bands. there are also phone numbers on both wesites and they have 24 hr assistance. It will get better. Keep your chin up its not as easy as people make it sound especially those who aren't banded yet. Good luck sweetie I will be praying for you. Once we get past the hard part life is going to be great. -
1st day of liquids
joysuz1498 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started liquids today. They gave me 3 huge tubs of Bariatric advantage chocolate and Vanilla. This morning I go and make a nice big shake with chocolate and put some peanut butter in it like the recipe said. I had to hold my nose to drink it. I ended up burping and the taste and smell made me so sick I lost my liquid breakfast. Im not sure what to do. I hope somebody chimes in with some advise. I don't understand why we need to be on liquids? Why would a high protein No carb diet not work to reduce the fatty liver. Everything I have read says that it will. Please Help...Starving.... -

Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Well it looks like I will be joining you all in the November bandsters. I am looking at a Nov 16th surgery date. I have been lurking in the forums and wishing and dreaming for about 8 years. I am so excited and scared all at the same time. I am 6 ft tall and weigh 361 pounds at my first dr visit about 3 weeks ago. I so looking forward to feeling like I did 15 years ago. Good Luck you all This is the first month of the rest of our lives  -
Where in GA are you having your surgery done? I am using Dr. Ponce in Dalton.

I can totally understand you all. I have been trying to get my husband to support this for 2 years. Finally I took him with me to my endocrinologist and it just happend to be the day that the Dr told me that if I did not permanently drop the weight I would never live to see 40 and if I did my quality of life would be awful. I am also self pay and he was concerned about paying out the money. I have also set my mind to the fact that this is what I am going to do. I have completed all of my testing except for the upper GI and it is scheduled for Wed morning. I am looking at a surgery date of Nov 13. I know that I am strong enough to do this with or without him. Many times I think our family and others do not understand how bad we truely feel being so overweight. I gave up on dieting along time ago. Like everyone on here I have taken every diet pill, went on every crazy diet and bought every stupid workout video out there. I need a real proven tool. I get on here every day and look at the before and after photos for encouragement. I just can't wait to see me next year. Feeling good is the best gift I am ever going to give myself. Good Luck ya'll. It is going to be the greatest thing we have ever done. Move forward and don't let anything stand in the way. This is not a vanity surgery this is the gift of life.

Honey I totally understand how you feel. I am 6ft and weigh 361 pounds. I am down 4 lbs this week and I have a tentative surgery date of 11/16. I too have a profile job and recently had to have a full body shot photo. Even though I had on my best black suit and thought it would offer some camo. I too looked like jaba the Hut. I too have heard the you have such a pretty face comment. That almost feels like a knife to the heart. My husband also feels like diet and exercise is the answer. When you are at the weight that we are I don't even feel it is an option anymore. If you are anything like me. I started my first Dr. supervised diet at age 12. I played high school basketball and was a very good athlete at 220 lbs. I can't wait for the day that I can see that weight again. Just remember you are not alone. I read your post and it sounded just like me If you need support please give me a shout. It seems like we are going to be climbing the same hill. God Bless and Good luck to both of us.
