Tomorrow is my 1st weigh in on my 6 month pre-op supervised diet. What happens if I haven't lost any weight? I did loose but I am on my menstral cycle and very bloated and retaining Water like crazy. I have tried Diruex all week and it does not seem to be helping. I drink nearly lots of water.

anyone used Dr. Titus Duncan in Atlanta GA
PMOSS posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Has anyone used Dr. Titus Duncan? If so what did you think about him? -
I have been researching the lapband for months now and this is really something I want to do. I have had my 1st consult and know what has to be done before my insurance will pay. The only problem is that I have not breathed a word of this to my husband, and I don't know how to tell him. I know this sounds crazy. I don't know if I am ashamed or scared of what he will think. We have been married for 25 years so you would think I could read him like a book. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am 5'4 and weigh 250 my bmi is 43, and several health issues.

I have bcbs also and yes it is true or at least with my plan that if I go below 40 bmi on the 6 month diet it will not pay they will "encourage" you to continue the diet you are on and no lap band.

Hi, I am south of Atlanta and had my seminar Tuesday the 8th at True Results in Atlanta. My insurance will pay but I have to jump thru some hoops. I have to have a psych evaluation, meet with a nutritionist, an upper gi, six month pre op diet with monthly weigh ins, and 3 year medical history of obesity. My tenative date for surgery is May 12, 2010. Good luck with your journey.

Yes I attened my seminar yesterday and had my consultation visit. That is where I found out that I have to do the 6 month pre op diet with weigh ins every 31 to 35 days so my tenative date for surgery is May 12, 2010. Boy that is a long way off. -

I have BC/BS OF AL I wonder if their requirments have changed on the 6 month pre op diet. I too just started my journey and am facing this obstacle. I think I will check up on this with my insurance company. Good luck on your journey and I hope everything works out the way you want them too!!!! -
 I had my consultation visit today. My insurance company is requiring me to "jump" thru a few hoops. I have to have a sleep study, psych evaluation, nutrition consult, and 6 months of weighing in once every 31 to 35 days. My last weigh in date is March 31, 2010. So my tenative surgery date is May 12, 2010.

 I have just started looking into the lap band, and have my first appointment on Tuesday to get things started. I am 5'3 and weigh 248lbs my BMI is 44. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, low potassium, and a family history of heart disease. I have lost weight many times only to gain it all back plus some. I hope my insurance (BCBS PPO) approves my surgery. Any advice on what to expect in the next few weeks or months will be most appreciated.
