My surgery was in August, and at times mine still hurts and will be tender. It kinda comes and goes, though.

Just had surgery Friday and now have diarrhea
Surby replied to tilde30's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, been there, done that. It was just like misery on top of misery! Hang in there, you'll be feeling normal in no time!! -
It is strange how restriction is so different for everyone! I'm finally at a very good restriction, and after about 1/4 of a restaurant meal, I can't possibly eat another bite. It's weird how my tastes have changed too. I no longer want French Fries!!! I was a walking French Fry before. Go figure.

Where does "can't eat this after surgery" info come from?
Surby replied to edieparks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am very very tight, and I enjoyed shrimp at Red Lobster last night and have a bunch left over for lunch today. I cut it into tiny pieces and chewed the heck out of it. I only ate maybe 4 and everyone else was finished with their dinner (about 20 people). Most people who have good restriction cannot eat shrimp, so I guess it really is an individual thing. -
BEST WISHES!!! My one piece of advice is to be patient!! For the first 3 or 4 months I was a little discouraged because I didn't feel great and I wasn't losing very fast. Now I have great restriction after 4 fills, and I am well on my way to onederland!! You've made a great decision!

I'm FINALLY feeling a lot of restriction (after my 4th fill), and every single time I eat, I have a lot of weird pain in my chest, shoulders, neck, and jaw. I think it is the referred pain, BUT it's just fine with me because it's just another aid in not eating!!
-
Be patient!! I had my 4th fill 3 days ago, and I FINALLY feel a lot of restriction. It is GREAT! My doctor is very conservative with fills, but the PA did it this time, and she said she was giving me an agressive fill. It worked!! Don't give up!!! I think I'm all set for a while now. You'll get there, but keep bugging the surgeon's office for fills!!!
-
My doc always tells me that it can take 1 - 2 weeks for the swelling to go away, and then you can tell whether you're too tight. However, if you can't even keep down liquids, that would seem to be a problem!

I really like Unjury (ordered online)........... their strawberry is good and I really like the chocolate. I liked Hank's, but I've read that they have not been completely honest on their labels regarding the true amount of sugar, etc.

FINALLY, after five months and four fills, I think I have reached my sweet spot! Woooo hooooo!!!! :clap2: I had the fill 2 days ago, but it just started kicking in today! During the morning hours, liquids barely gurgle down, but it's fine if I drink slowly (protein drink) and the rest of the day I have to eat slowly, chew like crazy, and eat a small amount. So THIS is what it's supposed to be like! So, those of you who are getting discouraged, hang in there. You'll get there, and it's great!!

I was there about 5 hours........... I felt great that day. The next week was difficult though!

I just had my FOURTH fill yesterday, and the nurse said she was giving me an "aggressive" fill. I felt quite a bit restriction this morning which was GREAT; however, this afternoon I feel WIDE OPEN! It is very frustrating! She also wouldn't tell me how much I have, but I'm thinking I have to be up to almost 4 in a 4 band!! That's scary to me!! She said they didn't like to tell patients how much they have because we get on the net and start comparing. Oh well............ good thing I love them so much!!

I eat super duper spicy and have no problem whatsoever!!!
-
I was banded in August, and I still don't have very much restriction after 3 fills and over 3 cc's in a 4 cc band! Tomorrow is my 4th fill. I just know that that'll do the trick! The moral of the story is, hang in there and be patient because there's apparently no magic number of fills!!!

Okay seriously seeking advice, help, support, whatever you guys can give me!!
Surby replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon requires 4 weeks between fills. I'm getting my 4th fill on Monday, and hopefully I'll have some restriction. I would call them and tell them what and how much you can eat and BEG for a fill. From what I've read, around 4 weeks is the average time that most people have to wait between fills. -
I've had the same issues with acne, and I agree that ProActiv is great; however, I have found a miracle cosmetic line that actually helps with the acne. It's Bare Escentuals, and I order it from QVC since I don't have a Bare Escentuals botique near me. I cannot believe what it has done for my skin!!! I started with just the moisturizers and then the foundation (it's a powder form, but incredible) and now I'm using it ALL!!! You might want to give it a try. If you order from QVC, you can try it for a month and get your money back if you don't like!

The band is great, but it sure does take a lot of work, especially without restriction. I've done just OK......... not great, but I get my 4th fill Monday, and I'm hoping for real restriction. Maybe when you start getting fills, the band will help you a little more???? GOOD LUCK!!!

OMG, I PB'ed on just little sips of water for several days when I was first banded (it happened about 3 weeks after surgery). I think I was really swollen or something. I would produce VOLUMES of saliva and then "throw up" nothing but air. It sounded as if a wild animal was coming out. I was trying to work, so it was horrible! I got through it though!! Hang in there!!

POLL Does Everyone Lose Their Hair??
Surby replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am shedding like my golden retriever and I am at almost 5 months. I have started using Nioxin, but I'm so scared that I'll lose all my hair!! I HAD very thick hair, but I'm quickly going thin. -
Should we do a poll to see who is annoyed by the polls?? LOL just kidding! I kinda like them myself......... I'm weird that way!
-
OK, are there NO August Bandsters???????? This has always been a quiet group! LOL

How much weight lost the 1st month after LB?
Surby replied to 2boys2cute's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Unfortunately, mine was only about 10 pounds! Grrr..... -
When TOM visits, that's the ONLY time I feel restricted. I love it!!!
-
BE PATIENT!!! I thought I would see MUCH quicker results than I have. I have been frustrated that I've had 3 fills and still don't feel much restriction. I'm having my 4th fill next Monday. Also, I felt HORRIBLE for 2 weeks after surgery...... remember that you will live through that and things will begin to feel normal quite soon. GOOD LUCK!!!

Is the GAS Pain bad for everyone? Tips on what can help?
Surby replied to 2boys2cute's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The gas pain for me was just during the few days after surgery. The ONLY thing that helped was walking A LOT!! Good luck!!
