Protein shake recommendations
wacogurl replied to Rn925's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Pure Protein chocolate... It has 130 calories and 25 grams of protein.. and it tastes good! the best I have tried in the last year and a half! -
Well I took everyones advice and called my insurance and found out what I am going to have to do to get approved. They told me I would have to have a supervised diet for 6 months, psych eval, and visit a nutrionist. But I havent been with my insurance company for a whole year yet so I have to wait til Feburary before they will cover it if I met all the requirments. So I talked to the Surgeons office and told them everything and they said that is the best thing to do. Go ahead and get it all done and by the time Feburary comes around I will be set to go and no more waiting! So I started my 6 month supervised diet Sept 18th and so far so good I can definatly tell a difference in my pants already! And I go to the Seminar on the 19th and then get everything else rolling after that!! I cant wait!!

Well I went to my family Dr yesterday to talk to him about this procedure and to see if he recommended anyone in Waco. We then as we wer talking about other issues he thought I might have the beginning stages of diabetes... well so i got some blood work today and we will see tomorrow... and i went to set up appt with the Dr in Waco and sooo now instead for going for my first appt on monday I now have to wait until oct 19 to go to the Seminar... I dont want to go the seminar I just want to get on with it... I am 110% sure I want to do this... so why do I have to wait another month before they will even set up my appt???!!! I guess i just need to be patient but I dont want to!!! The sooner I get to do this the soon I will feel better (healthier)... anyways i just needed to vent! thanks for listening!:blushing:

**********UPDATE********* Ok so I took everyones advise and yesterday I got on the phone and made some calls! I still have to wait until Oct 19th for the seminar BUT I talked to my insurance BCBS and found out everything I need... and this whole having to wait thing is going to keep on.. but at least now I know what I have to get done. But the best part of it all is that I will be required to do a 6 month supervised diet, but I have to wait 6 months anyways for my insurance to cover me anyways for this procedure! I have to have had my insurance for 1 year prior to the procedure and that will be in Feb which is when I would be done with my 6 month diet if i start now! And in the mean time I will go to the Seminar, see the surgeon, get my psych eval, and all they other little things done, so when Feb roles around all i have to do is the pre-op diet and I am on my way!!! That totally made my day and made me realize that this wait is going to be worth every minute!! Thank you soooooo very much for all your support and help! On my way to be a healthier thinner person!!! You all ROCK!!!!

Is that what they told you? If your BMI is lower from losing weight they wont pay? Or is that what you are assuming... I just talked to my BCBS yesterday and they didnt tell me that... but my BMI is 43 so even if I do lose I will still fall in that category. I have read on here that the insurance still covers it... they just do it to make sure that you can follow a diet... they dont want to pay for you to get it and then you not keep up with your end of the deal... I hope that made sense... but please tell me if that is what the insurance has told you. It will all work out for you in the end! Good Luck!

Thank you so much for sharing! That is all so very helpful... I planned to call my insurance on monday anyways but you just gave me that extra push...anything to help push things along... there is nothing i dislike more then to chase my tale trying to get things done and having to go back and forth so like you said find out everything they need and get it going! Thanks again And thanks to everyone for sharing you guys really keep my head up about the waiting process! I really appreciate it!:tongue2:

Tired of People Saying: "You Really Don't Look Lika You Need That!!"
wacogurl replied to ncarreras's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand how you feel!... I told 2 people and they did the same thing... Me and you our about the same size Im 5' and 220 so i completely understand but after having to explain myself which i felt i shouldnt have too... I decided its my buisness and who cares what they think!! I am just going to let them OOO and AAHH over me when I am thin! Thats what I want and they have no place to tell me or you dont need that... If i feel I want it for what ever reason I want it then I am going to do that! So I wish you luck and dont let it bother you... just let them be amazed and tell you how great you look! -
Thank you all for the support... I heard back from the DR today and I AM NOT DIABETIC!!!! I keep trying to tell myself that it just takes time just like i didnt gain it over night so i cant expect to get to loose it over night it all takes time... and I am on a PPO so thanks-TinaM that makes me feel better to know that i might only have to do the 3month instead for the 6 month so that will make things a little quicker if thats the case for me! And I really do need to go to the seminar I just have 50000 other things going on i just dont want to sit through it but i know i really should... and that is a good idea - brandy to go ahead and call and get everything going now so that will also help move things right along! Again thank you all so much for the support y'all made me feel alot better! I love this place!

Hi! I have my first scheduled appt a week from today, but it is 2 hours from where I live. I have done alot of research on the doctor and I feel like I would really like him and there office, they have been very helpful over the phone so far. But it is a 2 hour drive one way... which is normally not a big deal but I have a lot going on right now... like 15 hours of school a week and i also work full time. I talked to my neighbor yesterday and he said his wife had the lap band down about 10 months ago here in our home town... I didnt know our town offered it... I couldnt find any doctors when I was researching it. But I thought about going to my family doctor and having him send me to someone here in our town, but that means i would have to wait! What should i do??? should i go with the appt i already have set up even though its 2 hours away or start completely over and get one in my home town????? Any advise is greatly appreciated!!

2 hr drive to dr's office...
wacogurl replied to wacogurl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
who is your dr?? so you would say it is worth the extra time and drive for your dr? Thats what I was thinking... I would go and see what i thought and decide from there... Thanks for you advise. -
Thanks!!! that makes me feel so much better... for whatever reason i was thinking that it would have to be outside the skin... and thought that would be a horrible site!
-
Will you be able to see your port or is it hidden under the skin? And if its hidden how do you get fills? Thanks!

wacogurl posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just curious if anyone has BlueCrossBlueSheild-Lumenos Insurance? If so, did you have any problems getting approved for the procedure? Did you have to do anything special? Pre-diets, programs, meet a certain criteria? Any inof would be super! I have my first appt next monday and I am very anxious! I just dont want to be let down when i get there to find out that i have to has certain things done or do certain things before they will approve. Thanks! -
Does anyone have IBS that is already banded??
wacogurl posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am currently waiting for my first appointment... but i am wondering if the lap band helps IBS symptoms? Since i have gained so much weight in the last 2 years i have developed IBS and I am really hoping if this can help with the problem. Just curious if anyone has experienced this problem? Thanks!
