I agree with part of your post.....but you have to remember not everyone here has the same motivation for losing weight. My original goal was to lose enough to get pregnant. Now that I have lost 96 pounds I like looking good. What does it matter what reason someone has for losing weight, as long as they lose weight. Btw I am VAIN!!!!! Lol I cat call myself when I pass by a mirror! Lmao So what! You know what else I like? I like that I can play with my 6 year old for more than 10 minutes! I like that I wear a size 12 instead of a 22! I like that I can bend over and paint my toenails! Don't have to shop at Lane Bryant! No longer the biggest girl at our military Christmas party! Oh and I love the scale now! My point is we all have different reasons for losing weight and you cant fit us all in the same box.

It's been almost two years...Where are you now?
jenn79co replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will be 2 years come september for me. Lost 90 pounds Nope have yet to reach goal weight I get very small fills, for the first year I went once a month. Now I go every six weeks. I can eat just about anything, but I tend to stay away from bread and Pasta. I have never followed the drinking rule. Yes still have my band. I walk/jog. I eat a cup maybe a little more just depends. I don't like seeing that number on the scale go up, thats what makes me exercise. I eat junk on occasion otherwise I would feel deprived and binge. Exercise can be 30 min or 2 hours just depends. Surgery for TT eh I will wait and see. So far im not bothered by it. No protien drinks I get plenty of protien from my meals. I'm still losing. I see my nurse once every 6 weeks. You said you hadnt gotten a fill since August? You should def go and talk to the doc or nurse see if they can get you back on track. You are not a failure and dont beat yourself down. Sometimes it takes a little longer before you can get into the groove of things. Best wishes -
My band is making me CRAZY! Advice?
jenn79co replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 pounds is enough to make a difference. Thats usually how it goes for me. Once I loose 6 to 8 pounds my restriction level decreases. I go in every 6 weeks for very small fills. Seems to work well for me. -
Please don't be like me! After losing weight my wedding ring got loser and loser and I ignored it. Then yesterday while out shopping I had a feeling of dread as I looked at my hand and my ring was gone! I am devastated! So please, please, please get your rings reduced or spacers!!!!

Is anyone a military spouse?
jenn79co replied to amjcal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Navy wife here, my understanding is Doc's don't like to operate on bands done by other docs. I don't think you would have a problem finding a new Doc for fills. Also there are way more good stories at military clinics, hospitals, ect but the "bad" ones make for "good" stories in the news. -
I'm really confused. How does this thing work?
jenn79co replied to Rainydayz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like nothing will convince you to get the band, but it's not for everyone. Thats ok. Will power plays a big part in this. My will power never lasted that long on regular ordinary diets. I had never lost more than 30 pounds by myself and I always gained it back. Now a year and a half after banding I am down 87 pounds and havent gained any back. It may sound like snake oil to you, but its a wonderful, awesome gift to me. Best wishes -
If you like their point system do it. If not count your calories. I count calories but I have a friend who does WW. I sometimes eat what she does with no problem. You just have to figure out whats right for you.

Yeah!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!

Different strokes I reckon! I am not a religous person so I make Easter what I want. And for me no candy in large amounts in the house. I don't eat eggs, nor my daughter so we don't have much left after that. Sure is fun watching her eyes light up! Lol
-
I know what you mean! Since being banded I have started bucking traditions. My daughters kinder teacher asked for 12 plastic eggs filled with candy from each student. My daughter and I stared at the bags of candy at walmart, I was worried. Lol I thought how much candy would be left sitting in my house! So I decided to put bouncy balls and rings in the eggs. My daughter was happy with that. For my daughter she likes sweet tarts, nerds, skittles she's not so much into chocolate. So the Easter Bunny has gotten her a little bit of candy and ear rings, a little necklace, a new dress, nail polish, all girlie stuff. Then I got some squinkies to put in the plastic eggs. So not so bad on my diet! Lol No easter dinner either, after she hunts eggs we are spending the day at the zoo. I'm working the diet system! Lol

there is a side of me coming out that I never expected.......being VAIN! Lol I like it! It's bad and it's wrong but after 20 years of being fat I finally feel and think I look pretty. Part of it is the self confidence I have now, before band I looked my part, hair always in a pony tail dumpy clothes, no make up. After band once a week trips to the nail salon, I pay more than 20 bucks for a haircut, make up is always in place, and clothes!!!!! Oh the wonderful clothes I can wear now!!!! Now even though I love being me, I don't dare say or think I am better than anyone else! But in my head I love, love, love being me now! Anyone else ever catch a glimse of yourself in the mirror and think........DAMN! Lol

Try looking it up on tircares website, or call the docs offices in your area. You may have to travel a bit to find one though.

Whoop whoop!!!!! Congrats!!!!!

I thinks being this way has really helped with my eating habits also. I know those nice jeans or top I just bought are going to look way better on me than a hamburger would! Lol
-
Just wait! That feeling will turn into a feeling of, "i'm not a slave to food anymore!" It gets better hang in there!

I have mastered the art of sipping. Even before I got my first fill I figured out if I drink fast it comes back up. You probably just need time to adjust to your recent fill.
-
Apparently Spartan only posts his opinion if he thinks what you are doing is stupid. If you post about tanning he always comes up with something rude to say. Pay no mind to the idiot in the room.
-
Everyone tolerates fills differently. I am one that can only take a small amount at a time. If you had no problem getting fluids down after the fill, then you should be good.

Do you have tricare prime or standard? Are you going to a military facility or civilian doc? I have tricare prime and it was smooth sailing. All I had to do was get a referral from my pcm. I didn't bother calling tricare before hand. My doc sent the referral and it got approved. Then I went to the consult with the surgeon and they sent in my paper work and it got approved no problem Also tricare doesnt or didnt require a nutritionist. That may be what the surgeon requires. Mine was all civilian. I had no 6 month wait, the process took about a month and that was just waiting to get in with the surgeon.

I was gonna say wendys chili. Lol subway salad maybe? -
I am 5'7 currently I weigh 193. Suggested weight is between 123 to 149. Have you set yourself at the low end, high in or the middle? I have met my first goal, but have yet to set an exact number. i'm thinking middle so I give my self some wiggle room. So anyway do you have an exact number in mind and what made you choose it?

What? I don't understand your post.

I applaud you for being aware of what you are doing. It's a tough road no matter how much we think we are ready for this life change, it's a constent battle. I stopped drinking years before I was banded, so thats not an issue I can give you personal advice on. Stay with this forum, hopefully you will get the support, guidence, information and maybe a little tough love you need.
