jenn79co replied to Edivel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it your doc who requires it or your insurance? -
Well thats what happens when you sign up on a bored for lap band. Your very first post sounds like an ad, looks like an ad. You know the old say "if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck" you know the rest.

Try out myfitnesspal, I hate keeping a food journal, but the myfitness pal makes it a lot easier for me to keep track. I think a good range is between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. But its a learning process. I get about 1300 a day and exercise daily and i'm on average 2 to 3 pounds a week.

Start weight 275, heght 5'7 3 months, 20 pounds lost 6 months, 25 pounds lost 12 months, 50 pounds lost 17 months , 85 pounds lost The first 8 months I had my band I did not get off my butt and exercise. I also kept making the wrong food choices. So my weightloss was very slow! Then one day I started exercising and watching my calories and the weight is falling off. Lost 10 pounds this last month. Down to 190 now. I don't think there is anything I don't like about the band........maybe sometimes it has a mind of it's own. One day I can eat every thing on my plate, then the next day going out to dinner with friends it only lets me get a couple of bites down. But thats probably not a bad thing! Lol Everyone loses differently though it all depends on you and how hard you make yourself work to lose weight. I am a slow loser while some people on here can reach goal within a year. I think skin is an issue no matter what rate you lose weight. If your young you have a better chance of your skin returning to normal, also it depends on how long you have been overweight. It's a wait and see type of thing.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No tricare won't cover that. You may want to try another office if possible. That sounds like a total rip off to me. I had to pay 100 out of pocket for some protien shake stuff the doc wanted me to take. Then 50 for the phsyc eval.

Wow they said to eat regular foods? That would hurt me after a fill. Everytime I have had a fill they always say liquids or soft foods for 2 days. -
Its happened..... The dreaded plateau....
jenn79co replied to trishfish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brole through a plateau about 3 weeks ago. I know its so frustrating when you are doing everything right but the scale doesn't move! It took me upping my calories and really switching up my workouts before the scale started moving again. I hope you break it soon. -

How much weight have you lost? I am tired of this question!
jenn79co replied to Keia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad my husband is in the navy! We will move in less than 2 years and by that time I should be down to my goal. We will be in a new place, so no one will know I was ever morbidly obese! Those weightloss questions should fizzle out for me. My friends and family back home in Tx rarely ask how much I have lost. They consider that rude! Thank goodness! Lol -
Going into last week I knew I was not going to follow my healthy eating habits. It was my daughter's birthday and one of her friends. Like I was going to pass up pizza and cake! lol So I said hmmmm maybe instead of focusing on losing weight this week I should just try to maintain. I have lost 80 pounds and have another 45 to go. Believe me I feel great and I know I have time to get the rest of that weight off. I did my 30-60 minutes at the gym 4 days last week. And YES I indulged in pizza and cake. And I maintained my current weight. This week I am back to eating healthy and have lost a pound. I have seen some posts here that make me cringe. One of the most ridiculous things is no you can't eat this or that or you can't eat fast food and expect to lose. Well, Portion Control and exercise are the keys to making this work. Of course we can't eat at Mcdonalds or some place like that everyday. But to cut yourself off from everything! That's just crazy! Remember skinny people eat pizza too! (just in moderation)
