  1. I've given the warning one but here again this may have TMI. I had surgery last Wednesday and that is all good. My issue is poop. I hadn't gone for a few days before surgery and i wan not on a fasting diet. I ate two meals a day. I needed to go the day of surgery but I have issues going in places that are not home so I passed. Today I was in so much pain all day that I couldn't stand straight. I've been trying to go for three days but nothing happens even with a lot of work. Today i took a full dose of MOM, no luck. I ate baby food prunes, no luck. I took a Fleet suppository, no luck. I took a Fleet enema, liquid only, but no luck a moving the block. Has this happened to anyone else? What have you done to fix this? I am miserable!
  2. UPDATE: I was sent to the ER when nothing else worked. Evidently it's pretty serious when nothing helps. I just got back and I had to give myself a soap suds enema. WOAH! That did the trick. I also have a super powerful laxative to take today. I feel so much better!
  3. Thanks y'all. I'm staying home today and calling the doctor. Nothing is working yet and I got no rest. UGGGGG! Thanks again for all the input. Angie
  4. Hello, my name is Angie and I live in north central Georgia. I was banded yesterday so I have little weight loss as of now. I started at 212 (I'm 5'2" so it all shows). I am marries with one child, a three - soon to be four- year old daughter. I am a high school science teacher and a graduate student, where I am getting a degree in library media specialist. My faith (I am a Christian), my family, and my job take up most of my time. I am looking for someone to my mentor. I love my husband, but he's never had a weight problem, so he doesn't really understand why i've done this. I want someone to ask silly questions and generally be support to me and hopefully as I grow I can return some support.
  5. Hi Everyone, I am getting banded Wednesday and I have a few questions that a doctor just can't answer well. I am worried about pain and nausea. I already have prescriptions for both but what else did you do to help? What did you find most the most comfortable resting position? Did anyone take anything like Benefiber to help keep thing moving? Any tips to make things go smoothly? Thanks for any help you can give me. Angie

    January 2010 bandsters...

I'm getting banded tomorrow, Jan. 27. I'm scared and excited, but I think I'm ready. Angie:scared2:
  7. Hi y'all! I am Angie and I live in Georgia, however I am and will always be a Tennessee girl. I have been looking at this site for some time but thought it was time to introduce myself. I am your average teacher/mother of one/grad student. Well a little above average weight wise. I am scheduled to do pre-op on January 19 and have surgery January 26. I must admit I'm a little scared. However also excited about making some changes. I currently weigh 215, which I am told by many is too low to do this, but being on the short side (5'2") this is making me miserable and unhealthy. Thanks for all your posts. The wealth of knowledge you all place on these boards is so helpful and comforting. :rolleyes2:

    Getting Banded Jan. 26, 2010

    Thanks for the encouragement!
  9. I have finally moved forward to set a date. January 26. I'll have a preop diet for a new year's resolution. I am excited and scared at the same time.:Yawn: Angie
  10. Hello everyone, I am going to my first medical consultation in a few weeks and I don't know what to expect. What happens at this appointment? I'm kind of scared.
  11. It's open enrollment and I'm thinking of changing insurance form Cigna to United Healthcare. I am a teacher in Georgia so I am under the state plan. Has anyone been banded under this insurance? What was your experience like and what were the requirements?

    Anyone use Carecredit?

What do you think of this carecredit company? Are they easy to deal with? I need some input before I feel comfortable enough to apply. Angie
  13. If so how's it working for you? Are you happy with the results? Angie
  14. I'll be in jeans and a blue and black printed shirt and a pink pattern purse. I'll also probably have a book. I always have a book.

    Angie

  15. I'm thinking about a band and I want to know why you love it or hate it. Thanks Angie:smile2:
  16. Hello everyone. I am researching lap band surgeons because I have decided that I WILL get this done. I weigh enough but I am not sick enough for insurance to pay so I am on my own. I am looking for a good surgeon in Atlanta, preferably the northern part. Can any of you share your experiences and if you don't mind sharing how much they charge (if you know). Thanks
  17. Congrats! I'm so excited for you. Keep us posted.

Anyone get banded with a BMI below 40?

Thanks for the input. My BMI is 37, but I have high blood pressure and am a seriously loud sleeper so I'm trying to fix things before it gets too bad. I see all these people who have lost so much and I only weight 210 but I'm 5'2". People who know my weight think I'm crazy for even considering the band.
  19. I just learned I weigh enough but I'm not sick enough (one comorbidity not two) for my insurance (CIGNA) to pay. I'm determined to get this done. How have some of y'all jumped this hurdle? financing? Where? How long did it take you to raise the money? Do you have any ideas on how to raise the money? Thanks:crying:

    Anyone in GA

What time is the meeting in Cumming. I'm considering lapband too. I am in Dawsonville. I went for an individual consultation at TrueResults Friday and found out I'm not sick enough for insurance so I'm starting the saving.

    Initial Visit Questions

I am going to the initial visit friday to determine of I'm a candidate for lap band and to ask questions. I have a list of questions I want to ask but for those who have been through this are there any questions I need to ask that may not be so obvious? What are some questions you wish you had asked before going into this? Thanks
  22. Hello all. I'm going for the one on one information session Friday. Has anyone been here or to this doctor? How was your experience?
  23. Hi I'm new here so I hope I'm doing this right. Please forgive me if not. I am considering a band. I live it the Atlanta area. I have some questions if y'all don't mind answering. 1. How much does it hurt? 2. How much pain meds did you need? (I have a 3 year old and don't want to be out of it.) 3. How long until you were released to go home? 4. How long do you feel one should take off work? (I'm a teacher so my job's not demanding - physically that is) 5. Anyone have any experience with CIGNA good or bad? That should do for a start. Thanks so much.:sneaky:

Good morning! I am exploring the possibility of banding. I live in the Atlanta area and have CIGNA. What have your experiences been with CIGNA and are there any in network doctors in the area? Thanks:mellow:
