Ok so decided Summer of 08 That enough was enough and i was going to get the lap band. Went to my first introductory meeting in September 08 and on to my many apointments and testing from that point forward. All went well, just as i expected and i was very organized. My insurance did not cover Lap-band because my employer did not choose it as prt of the coverage. So after searching for hep found that youcan ask your employer to make an exception. so me and probably hundreds of others (i work for the hospital) Halled HR and said " what is the deal?" ANd in February they finally added it to the plan!! YEAH!! Luckily i had already been seening my primary monthly since Cigna requires 6 months of primary care for obisity before they will approve surgery. So then i really needed to focus as i had lost 8 lb and needed to lose 10lb befre turning all my info into the surgeon. So i focused on replacing meals with protein shakes and turned in my packet, i let the nurse know i met my weight loss requirement the first week of April and a month went by and i heard nothing so i called, aparently they needed me to get one more test and thought they sent me a letter but it never came to my house so i am glad i called.Go the one more test, Ecocardioecograhm i think, i neede it becaue i had one been on Fen-Fen. So i had results sent and i calle dthe next week to make sure they got them, they did not, but Dr. goulds staff had always said get copies of everything for yourself, and so i had and i faxed it over myself. First week of July the Surgeons office called and set up my appointment witht the nutritionist, nurse and DR. One each week and my last apointment was on August 19.Then i waited 9 days for the office to call and schedule my surgery date. Date set. also date set for the Upper GI and Pre-op appointment. One week goes by and i get a call to reschedule, dr will not be in so now i am bumped out to October 19th for Surgery. Almost 14 months since i started this process.A long road i have taken and am excited for the big day... First day of the rest of my life!
