  1. Hello - after 6 years of researching everything on the internet about the lapband, and removal of my gallbladder 2 years ago, I've decided to go for it. Though, after reading everything about the band, I'm **STILL** scared to have this surgery. It sounds like having my gallbladder removed was easier than installing the band, hence, it should be a breeze for me. I lost 60 pounds by "swimming" rather walking in the swimming pool three days a week for physical therapy (back problems). After it was over, I got depressed, gained 10 pounds, and decided I don't want to YOYO anymore. I've got lose 100 pounds--a personal goal. I think it's more expensive to have this surgery if you've had one of your organs taken out since they have to use the same incision sites. Has anyone had their gallbladder taken out prior to surgery? Does the incision site hurt more? :help: Brenda

    Lots of pre-banding questions

JULES JULES JULES!!! I wrote a blog in the other room without doing a search...silly me. I need to ask you some specifics about the lapband and your gallbladder removal...since I had my gallbladder removed about two years ago and I want to be banded...did they use the same incision site as your gallbladder? Did it hurt? Did it cost more since it supposedly takes longer to use the same incision site? I'm so relieved to see others with missing gallbladders. Brenda

BCBS - What are they thinking?

Hi, I'm Brenda and I have Premera BC/BS in AK. I was denied by Blue Cross 5 or so years ago to have this surgery done. I gave up. I researched and spoke with a great group up here about surgeries in other countries. But, never followed up. I see people who are 1/4 or 1/2 their original size when I met them 5 years ago!! Now fast forward to August 2006, I'm ready to have this surgery done with the blessing from my Orthopedic Surgeon whose the best in our state. I'm pending a fusion and scared to death to have it done. I'm 40 years old, and have a lifetime of back problems if they don't want to pay for it, instead they may have to pay for my back -- that is how I see it. Say positive prayers for me on my new weightloss journey.
