Thanks everyone for the update on the port pain.. the new pain that we are all dealing with and kind wondering how everyone else was doing with it (that was for Phil:):frown: I am happy to say that the port pain has subsided 6 weeks post surgery... I am also happy to say that I am down 22 pounds 6 weeks post surger and now... drumroll... Clothes are getting LOOSE!!!! I am not ready to downsize yet.. but... those tight skirts.. well now I have the wiggle room (probably my true size now:):frown: but you didn't here that from me.... I will tell you that I am on the site abuot every 2-3 days now and really do look to see how everyone is doing.. especially us Jan 2010 bandsters... Today I went to get some cortisone shots in the knee and the doc could tell I lost weight.. that was a NSV... I love telling everyone I had the band.. I am sharing it with everyone... Why.. well.. just like everyone here.. I have struggled with weight.. and for the first time in my life.. weight is coming off without the stress that usually came with the diet.. or the screaming hunger pangs.... I also know that I could be taking it off faster if I desired... but I am happy with the process.. I don't care if it is one pound a week.. because losing one pound a week is better than gaining a pound a week.. and better than staying status quo... However, that being said.. SPRING is in the air.. the weather is warming up here in Wisconsin.. and with my new found weightloss I want to start going for my walks again.. I am feeling physically and mentally refreshed... I love my "Buddy Aid" friend in my lap band.. I will forever be loyal.... My only regret..... why didn't I do this so long ago... but alas.. this is my journey... and even if I didn't lose another pound I would be happy.. because the food is not controlling me anymore... I can have time to plan a meal instead of grabbing something to fill the belly.... So let's hear it... who else is happy today and why?

I have only the one fill (4cc) and I have had PBing... an incident of sliming... yuck.. will never eat those noodles again... I do the PBing like crazy... but I am so happy... the wicked hunger pangs have been gone since surgery.. level of food is lower than prior to surgery (although I would still appreciate even lower if I could).. but I am getting something done.. so there must be some restriction... I tried to eat bread the other day....yeah...not so much... so I ate the meat... I am having a lot of Soups and juices but I put crackers in my Soup to mush it up and it works.. I eat half a can of soup and then the other half later in the day... that would have been a snack before the lap band. I find that I can eat more in the morning than at night... so I have to make good choices....I try to eat eggs but sometimes don't have time so I have an applesauce and then something an hour later.... I treat this lapband as I would test driving a car... I am taking it out and seeing what can be done.....whenever I introduce a new food.. I am careful .... but there are times I forget about the band, take a big bite and am "politely" reminded by the band (buddy-aid is his name) that hey.. don't try that sister.... I love this band though... even if I lose weight slow.. I am happy...I will never regret this... The only problem I am having I wish I could get rid of is the port pain...does anyone still have this or is it just me....? Thanks Jen

Loss off appetite - normal?
wisconsin jen replied to cnr1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a great question... I have been banded since Jan 26 and have no appetite.. I think the hunger pangs being gone are the best part of this....I don't panic eat to get rid of the hunger pangs... I go through different phases on different days.. sometimes I can eat a lot.. other days.. just a few bites...not sure why... I will watch this thread though to see what is said.. thanks for asking... Jennifer -
I had 4cc and wish I had 5 cc:) Although.. no hunger ... but I am still eating with my eyes... It's a process.. time will heal this I know it will

Cherie... I feel the same way about the scale... I feel like if I get on it.. I won't get off.. so I am limiting it to doctor visits.... I think the only reason I am not eating as much as "I could" is fear... I don't want to get anything stuck... and in my mind.. whatever it takes to keep the food away.... There are so many concious decisions that have to be made.... smaller plates, smaller utensils...eating a little bit.. wait.. eat a little more....I do like the lap band though... it is giving me the push that I need.... I can't beleive it has taken away the hunger pangs... that amazes me.... I am so happy that we did this Cherie... How did it feel to have someone "notice" the weightloss... no one has noticed mine.. but I tooks some photos and I can tell... I can't wait to get that first moment where someone says.. "hey... have you lost weight" Keep focused on that writing retreat...I get my cortisone shots on March 12.. I am going to be happy.. my knee keeps buckling and I need it to walk for sure... I have a question for everyone... my aches and pains appear to be coming back with a vengence with the weightloss... (it could be a lupus flair though)... has anyone else had that problem... I have had to take a few pain pills for the back and muscle pain and I haven't had to do that in a while.. maybe the weight was a good "cushion":) Keep hanging in there everyone.. we are doing great... we are losing weight.... my expectations are about 1-1 1/2 pounds a week... anything else.. I will consider gravy.....(but I will be trying like the dickens to get a 12-15 pound loss by 26 March - just my personal challenge to me:) Have a great weekend everyone.... Cherie...keep me posted girl...... Jennifer

Great NEWS.... I went to the doctor today... for my first fill:):cursing: I got 4cc's and found out.. I LOST 20 POUNDS>>>>> I am so excited.. this is the first time I lost weight without feeling like I was dieting.. without the massive hunger pangs... without the detrimental binges when you can't handle it anymore... I am so happy.....I am really excited for month number two now... every month for this first year is going to be such a ride....whew.... Just had to share:)

Yes I have had that happen.. I was burping so much that I asked the doc about it.. They said that the pouch has gotten small and when food sits in the pouch it traps air underneath the food and when you stand up and walk around you are movinf the food around and thus... the burp:) I was beating my kids in every burping contest for a while:))

I just bought some from the site.. looks awesome... I can't get enough Protein and I think that is why I feel a little weak.. this should do the trick... Thanks for the tip Jennifer

WOOT!!! WOOT!!! Great Job Cherie.......

Kiesha.. I am so happy that you lost that much weight already... I go to the dietician today so I CAN't wait to see my progress.... Keep on that great track.... Jennifer

Yup.. I found out the hard way that mushy crackers in soup don't qualify as a mushy food:) I think that was my problem:)
-
Well then, I PB A LOT... A WHOLE LOT:thumbup: I have learned in the last seven days to eat less than a third of what I put on my plate.. .which is about a 1/4 of what I normally eat in a meal... stop for about 10-20 minutes then eat a bit more.......I have found that I CAN eat too much soup:) I was full for six hours on soup:) This is good though.. 7 pounds in seven days.. I am wicked happy... and actually, the way that I am eating right now I could easily do long term.... This is the first time in my life that I lost seven pounds without being hungry... I love my lapband, PB's and all:):) I have never burped this way, it is hilarious... my kids HATE it... so be it I say:) Thanks for the knowledge there.... Jen
