thanks LMD, that was a really nice post. sometimes we forget how far we really have come and get down on ourselves. we must always remember where we started from and where we are now. self pats on our backs are really nice every now and then.

You may or may not want to hear my side. . but it's great to rely on God for everything. . however there is a story in the good book about 3 brothers who were given talents by God. . . two of the brothers misused their talents however the 3rd used his talents wisely. . .he was blessed with the greatest rewards, the other two were regarded as fools. . . if we were to all be able to do this weight loss thing by ourselves by the shear of will, then America wouldn't have such an obesity problem right? We were all, however, handed talents to use wisely. . . by using our talents, we make decisions on what to do. . . we made the decision to have WLS, this talent is a wise one because it not only helps us loose the weight, it strenghtens us in every way INCLUDING in our religion. . . we give thanks to God for giving us the trusting surgeon and medical staff, we thank Him for everyday we can wake up and rejoice with our new found health and strenghts. . . sooooo I must beg to differ with your friend. . . if she/he can use their will powers good for them, for us we have found our talents to use in a new and better way. . . good luck and God bless

hi all, I'm an oldie, haven't been here for a long time, but now i'm back for support. I'm out now 5 years and have the sleeve. I'm now gaining weight back pretty quickly, in the past year or so I'd say i've gained back about 25 - 30 lbs. Sad isn't it? And it's that darn head hunger, sliders, stress, and boredom. So I started back to basics. I must remember that i didn't spend 15,000.00 to regain all this darn weight. I started the 5 day pouch test yesterday and it's really tough, nearly past out yesterday, but am hanging in there. I tell myself it's only til wednesday and then it's Protein first, then veggies and if there is room, then some starch. . good starch. (LOL) Please all, just remember this is not easy, you will gain weight very easily if you don't watch out. . .it's hard and we will struggle for all our lives. . . i used to preach how the sleeve is a tool to help us lose the weight. Now it's time for me to practice what i preached. . . ugh. . . well good luck all and i'll be here for your support. Even us old ones need help!

Stretched or not, all i know is that if i eat really dense Proteins like eggs, tuna, sausages, chicken, etc. . . i have sooooo much restriction. . . for example today i only had the following, 2 poached eggs for Breakfast, 1.5 oz of chedder cheese at about 2:30pm and 1 piece of fish (tail end) for dinner. . .for a snack i had greek yogurt with 1 scoop of Protein Powder. . . i feel like i'll never need to eat ever again I am soooooooooooo full. . .and with that being said and at 14 months out, i think i'm still doing pretty darn good with restriction. . .

Hi, just like Lan2K, I too will be getting together with a therapist. . I've been told that a therapist during the "journey" is a good thing along with a support group. . . any help will be definately looked for, like ya'll on these forums. . your a great inspiration and great ears, I will definately continue with this! Depression majors sucks, I had it super bad when I was in my 20's (I'm now 47) I even attempted suicide (as you see it didn't work! I'm greatful) I was in therapy, hospitals, lots of meds. . . finally I just said "STOP IT" and repeated it over and over and over everytime I would start feeling blue, I told my shrink I was stopping all meds on my own, he warned me against it, but I did it anyhow. . .I hated that detached head feeling everyday. . . guess what! I'm drug free, I don't get depressed anymore and when those feeling creep up I yell as loud as I can in my head "STOP IT! WHATS WRONG WITH YOU" Then I go right away and concentrate on something else, my weeding, a book, crocheting, a HOT shower (always works, one day I took about 4 HOT showers, I was very clean) I'm ok now though and feel that I've won that battle, with this new transformation, I will definately seek the care of a therapist though, cause I can see where it could hurt someone. . especially if your not used to getting looks from men, whistles, etc. . .good luck all!

charchar, in the beginning I so totally hated this surgery. . was really upset that i had done it. I couldn't eat what i wanted, couldn't drink what i wanted. . . man, i couldn't eat like a gorilla at holiday time anymore. . ugh why did i do it!!! Why? because i looked like a gorilla and was fed up with it. . . then reality set in, i couldn't undo what i had done, so the next best thing to do was to except what i had done. . .3 plus years later I am so happy I did this surgery, I can eat whatever I want and the best thing is over the years i have learned what is a "normal" portion and what doesn't agree with me and what does. I've learned to eat, sip, and enjoy life like a lady and am loving myself for once in my life. I don't look like model material, but then that wasn't the goal. . I am HEALTHY and look the part. My labs are perfect for once in my life and for once in my life I like who looks back at me in the mirror. Don't worry, it gets better and girl once it does WHOA NELLY life gets good!

I've always be ashamed of myself from since i can remember. . . always trying diets, pills, etc anything to lose weight. I hated myself for ever and never was happy. But i went on like this for years and years until finally 3 years ago 47 years old I could afford to get this done and i did. . . now i've lost 150 lbs, have tons of self confidence, enjoy life and finally finally love myself for the person who i am. . . I got to my doctors goal for me, but not my own personal one, but I'm definately not a failure . . .I AM PURE SUCCESS!
