I am very sensitive to tape as well and had this problem, my skin actually had come off and left big sores. . but the best thing to tell you is leave it alone. . . don't keep putting stuff all over it, that in itself could cause an infection by attracting dust and such. . just keep it clean and dry. . . do have it open to air every now and then, but don't mess with it. . . if it continues to get redder and more irritable, then call the doctor and see what to do. . . sorry this may not help you but it sure did me, but it's worth a try. . .

    Sleeved yeterday and feeling bad

    Yup you betcha its normal. . . it hurts your throat from the intubation and hurts your tummy cause its sore, swollen and hurt itself. . . just take it easy, do the best you can and walk, walk, walk, to help with the gas. . . i was up and walking within 5 hours of my surgery and have never stopped since. . . just walk alot, it really helps. . .

    Help me please!

    Fruit has lots of carbs and lean cuisines have lots of sodium. . . maybe try skipping the fruits and lean cuisines. . .I didn't have to do a pre op diet, but my post op diet wasn't any better then the preop. . . you could try this if you want breakfast: 4 oz dannon light N fit yogurt (60 calories) Lunch : chicken broth (no sodium, no MSG) or beef broth Dinner: 1/4 c tuna or salmon with No Fat Mayo, 1/2 c extra lean hamburger meat, or extra lean ground turkey or 1 egg with 1 slice of no fat cheese . . In between the meals you can have popsicles sugar free of course, lots of Water with crystal light flavor, sugar free Jello. . . or you can incorporate these with meals. . . but drink alot of water. . . and keep on exercising. . . good luck
  7. I'm sorry this has happened to you. . . that is always so disheartening, have you thought about self pay? I got my loan from the bank at 3.7% . . . not too shabby and you don't have to wait for all that rigamaroll that insurance companies demand. . . just a thought

    Thanks Oregon, I'm hoping it'll change, I'm just really afraid of being fat again. . .that is great you can eat only 1 slice of pizza and be happy on it. . . the kids probably love it now that they can finish the whole thing instead of sharing huh?

    It might pinch here and there, but other then that it's not bad. . when they clean it after with alcohol that tends to sting but it's not bad. . . I had mine taken out before i left the hospital.

    LMAO!:lol0: Your so cute. . . honey I was like the biggest gulper in the world, nope i didn't need to breath when i drank stuff. . but let me tell you something. . once you have the surgery and the day they give you something to drink it's like automatic. . . you don't gulp, you'll automatically sip. . . I did and have been sipping ever since, now i'm a lady! I even burp like a lady . . . it's going to be ok, you'll see don't worry about the gulping, your going to be totally amazed at what happens after surgery. . . I was and never practiced a thing. . .

    Whatcha' Eating?

    That sounds yum . . . i like seafood a lot, i eat a lot of plain salmon, tuna, and steamed tulapia. Will be trying shrimp, crab and so on in about 1 month or so. . . depends on what doctor says. . .i think you'll enjoy your time out, and yes it's amazing where people pack it? And just think, we used to do that too???? My Lord have mercy breakie 8 oz mootopia/1scoop protein lunch 1/2 c ricotta cheese dinner 1/2 c pureed extralean hamburger meat with 1 slice no fat cheese snack 2 sticks string cheese

    No lauramomof3, you are normal, i am not normal . . . i have a phobia of fat now . . i'm losing pretty well and love it. . i feel good not eating hardly anything and limiting my carbs so severely it's sickening . . . when i used to diet as a fatter person i would love that empty hungry feeling, but then something would happen and i would start eating again. . . now i can't, now i am the one who has the control and let me tell you, i'm a power and control type of person, i have to be the one in control not my gut and now my gut hardly exists and i'm in total control . . it's just me, that is just how i am. . i don't and never have had favorite foods, so this isn't hard to eliminate foods for me . . right now i'm loving my sleeve and knowing that this WILL work this time. . . good luck to you!

    I love my paranoid self. . . went to Ihop with daughter and hubbie last sunday, just had coffee and watched the other people and was totally amazed how much people really eat. . this surgery has made me so aware of gluttony. . . i NEVER want to be back there ever again. . .

    Anybody have a leak?

    Hi and welcome! I asked that exact same question to my doctor and since i was self pay, I thought the same thing too. . . but he told me that they code it as an emergency procedure and it's collected on insurance. . . but that is what my doctor said, your's may be different. . . and also with plastics after you lose all your weight, my doctor said he makes it a emergency procedure like excess skin causing infection and breakdown . . . then insurance will pay for it. . . there are tons of ways around things he said. . .

    Thanks Tiffy, that makes me feel soooooooooooo much better, knowing that someone else went through this. . my biggest fear is anorexia and i don't want to go there. . your words are enough to make me feel better. I really don't think i was looking for advice, just something or someone to talk to about it. . . thanks again so much for making me feel normal again. :thumbup1:

    Confession Time

    Thanks Lan! Well now i must confess to something which i've been putting all over the place . . . I think i'm heading in the wrong direction. . . I have become very afraid of food . . not the semi solid foods like yogurt, cheeses, and such, but of normal foods . . I don't want to advance. . . I like my semi softs and I really like the idea of 500 calories a day. . . weight loss is going I'm told(will weigh at the doctors on the 16th) I personally don't see any weight coming off, but people are telling me "your fading away" . . . "aren't you loosing it too fast" . . . I can't see it, but I feel great, strong, healthy, and alert . . . yes my clothes are loose and all, but i look in the mirror and see 332 and fat, fat, fat, fat. . . I feel like a fool mentioning this to the doctor so i'm looking to y'all. . could i be heading for trouble you think? I mean for me this is the greatest thing ever. . . tiny tiny tummy, can't put nothing into it except semi softs and proteins. . . I live on proteins. . .refuse to touch carbs and when i do it's about 5 per day from various things ie: fuze drinks have <1 g carb; and so on . . . I limit it very much . . ugh . . . but i feel great! So if it's not broke, why fix it???????? I think i'm becoming obsessed with weight

    Finally...half way to goal!

    Hooray for you! This is so exciting, I can't wait to be half way there! That would be 240 lbs for me. . . long way, but i'll get there. . . I've run into a bit of a delemma now myself. . .afraid to eat "normal" food. . . I am 5 weeks out and refuse to go higher than 500 calories. . .my tummy feels it's best on semi soft foods and i like it too. . .i eat lots of protein, but don't feel like i need to advance to anything else. . .maybe after 6 months or so, we'll see, but i'm really scared to gain any weight now that i'm losing. . . weird huh?

    I'm hungry

    YOU BETCHA! i'm hungry often. . i used to think it was just head hunger and would ignore it, then i started "listening" to my tummy, you know stop listen and see if it really was hunger and sure enough . . . unfortunately for some of us the hormone isn't taken away completely and we're left hungery, . . very dissappointing, but it's not as bad as before. . .what was suggested here by Carolyn24 was every time you feel that hunger thing, have 4oz of a protein. . . i tried it, and it really works. . . I'm 5 weeks out and so what i do now is have my Protein shake for Breakfast, at lunch 4oz of either tuna, or salmon (no mayo or mustard) which feels me up forever, and for dinner something really light, like ricotta cheese, or yogurt, or cottage cheese. . . then for a night time snack Jello or a popsicle. . . It really works. . . but yup the hunger thing is real, just hang in there and since its something you really want, it'll work for you! Good luck. . . oh and one more thing. . . because we are hungry we tend to want to gulp our food. . . DONT DO THAT! It really hurts and gets extremely uncomfortable. . . i mean it happened to me and i would rather be really constipated then have that bad feeling ever again. . .eat slowly and chew no matter what it is. . or you'll be really sorry. . .

    Interesting situation last night

    Funny how doctors are all different, my doctor was giving me pills right off. . he said they wouldn't cause any problems whatsoever, so that is what i do, and he was right, no problems . . . i can even swallow 2 tylenol pms without difficulty . . . no reflux, no pain, no problem. . .

    I cheated... i feel so horrible

    I am totally chicken to eat anything normal. . .I'm out now 5 weeks and still am sticking to mushies of a very low carb, no fat, sugar free diet. . . i know physically that i probably won't gain back my obesity as before, but my brain doesn't see it that way, all i see is fat, fat, fat, which i now refuse to ever be again. . stupid i know ugh

    lets see . . . yesterday was breakfast: 8oz mootopia and 1 scoop vanilla protein lunch: 1/2 c tuna dinner: 1/2 egg (which i puked up) snack: 4 oz frozen yogurt today: breakfast: 8oz mootopia with 1 scoop vanilla protein lunch: 1/2 c. ricotta cheese with 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1 fiber splenda pkg dinner: 1/2 c. pureed extra lean hamburger meat snack: 4 oz frozen yogurt
