Hi there, I think my surgery was an excellant price considering it pays for the surgeons (2), anesthesiologist, hospital stay (3 days) 1 year follow up care (monthly), nutritionists, psych, after care 24 hours anytime, and all this for $15,500. The hospital was a very prestine private hospital, very personal and caring only 10 beds limited for bariatric care only. . .there even was a separate area for your loved ones if they were staying in your room with you, yup their own "room" . . shared bathroom of course with you. . .and the best part of all, i got to stay in my own city with the confidence of knowing that the healthcare was here if i needed it. . . good luck in your considerations and best to you in your decisions. . .

Wow your doing wonderful on your protein and water intake! You go girl! I can't do that, makes me gag. . . but anyhow, this is the very exact reason why I don't weigh myself. . .after my surgery I came home and threw out my scale. . .my hubbie thought i was nuts, but i know i wasn't. . i refuse to become a slave of the scale! I only weigh at the doctors appt. . .I weighed in at 1 1/2 weeks out of surgery and had lost 32 lbs . . . now i go back on Feb 16 for my 7 weeks out appt and will weigh again. . I haven't weighed since the last time, so if i had hit a stall i have no idea and i don't become depressed over it. . . God knows i've suffered with depression enough and now i'm in control and won't ever do it again. . so out went the scale. I let my success be seen in my clothes and the compliments from the people I work with and neighbors who haven't seen me in a bit. . . maybe get rid of the scale and just live life as it is meant to be lived. . . good luck

Carol, I don't blame you for not wanting to tell your family. . .i didn't tell mine either because they are so yappy and very negative. . . but just last week, (5 weeks out) i told my mom because she is coming to visit me in October and by then i probably will have lost tons of weight and she would comment. . . but anyhow i told her and right away she has a coffin picked out for me and i'm buried already . . . so negative, thinks i'm going to die within a few weeks. . . i told her that i would have died if i would have remained fat and in such bad health. . . that she doesn't hear, she hears what she wants. . oh well whatever i guess. . . good luck with your mom! Family can be so complicated . . .

Gosh yes! But how i look at it, we knew what we signed up for when we got this surgery and should live with that, I would love to go to the chinese buffet or the steak house buffet and eat away, but that is what landed me to do this surgery in the first place. . . we have to relearn ourselves now, . . we have spent many years eating wrong and getting fatter and suddenly our tummies are ripped out and now we are left to relearn how to eat thinner. . . it's cruel, yes, but after a few months we will readjust and eat like thinner people. . .we can eat whatever, only lesser. . . i could go on about this forever, but won't . . . good luck to you all, together we can over come this . . .

Hey there, well let me tell you, I had to hand over $5000 and then $10,500 to get my surgery here in San Antonio Texas. . and you know what I'd do it again and again and again. . . i am so happy i had my surgery here at home. . . the care was outstanding, the doctor fantastic, fabulous follow up care for as long as i need it. . .and just the comfort in knowing that the doctor who did the surgery is right here and i can rely on him whenever, and if ever i need him for a problem. . also i didn't have any problems with my surgery whatsoever. . . no infection, no nausea, nothing . . . i can't tell you were you should go or what you should do, alot of folks have gone to mx and have had success, but honey, my thinking is "you get what you pay for" Good luck and best of everything . . .

I have UHC as well, but in my case it was that my employer did not opt to add bariatric surgery onto the insurance, so it wasn't covered, neither is any cosmetic surgeries. . soooo, i ended up being self pay, which was alot better anyhow. . . i got a bank loan at 3.7% for the full amount and had my surgery in no time flat. . . no loop holes, no hoops to jump, nothing, just show the money and your on your way. . . good luck and hope all turns out well for you. . . .

Hi I was sleeved on Dec 29, 2009 . . . I didn't need to do a pre op diet and after 1 1/2 week out had lost 32 lbs. . . haven't weighed since. . i go to my doctor on Feb 16 for my 1st 1 1/2 month out checkup. . . will post how much i've lost at that time. . . I can tell you right now i don't regret getting this done at all . . . and i feel i picked the right time to do it as well. . . good luck with your surgery, and remember to do alot of walking

Yes, it will as long as you eat/drink your Proteins. . . like Tiffy said, are you taking in any Protein shakes right now? This helps too, or eating proteins, like tuna, salmon, different types of meats, etc. . . it's almost here, and your doing fantastic! Keep up the good work. . . you won't regret the sleeve, we all promise!

I'm 5 weeks out and still am chewing away on semi soft foods which i love by the way. . cottage cheese, string cheese, ricotta cheese, no fat cheese slices, tuna and salmon in the pouchs, extra lean ground beef pureed, extra lean ground turkey, puddings, jello, protein shakes, cream soups, etc. . . i'm really happy with these foods and they sit really well with me. . .

Thats right Mini Me, do the best you can. . . i'm 5 weeks out and still dont get 60-80 grams of protein. . . whatever is my attitude, as long as i'm eating and not cheating on nothing and feel satisfied, i'm happy. . .the more we stress over things the more the weight loss will slow down. . .just relax and enjoy getting to know your new self. . . you'll love your sleeve soon enough. . .:sad0:

I remember the days of having to order 2 extra large pizzas just for 3 people because my daughter and i could polish them off without a problem . . hubbie doesn't eat that much. . but daughter and i ?? Wow. . . now she doesn't like that i don't eat as much, she is proud of my weight loss and all, and is glad that i'm doing something about my weight, but i was her food buddy, i told her i will be more then happy to come with her and drink my tea or coffee while she enjoys a meal. . . that is ok with her too. . . bless her heart. . .

I was told by my doctor to hold off on exercise other then walking til i saw him for my 1 month visit. . . he said the tummy needs to heal properly and not get hurt by doing weights or other types of exercises. . . he just perferred it this way. . . but thats my doctor, others may be different. . . thanks!

I am not from TN, but paid $15,500 in San Antonio, Tx . . this cost included 3 day stay in a very private prestine hospital, the surgeon, the anesthetologist, nursing care, 1 year of post op care, support group, nutritionist, and any care you need post op. I think that is a good cost. . .

sure, it's when you don't chew well enough or eat too much to fast, suddenly you have to start clearing your throat because all this phylem comes up, just like when your nose gets the runs into your throat and you have to spit it out or if you've ever had a sinus problem and have to spit. . . it's really nasty and just keeps coming until your stomach settles (about 20 - 30 minutes) I had an episode like this last week with eggs and will NEVER do that again. . . i ate my 1 egg too fast in about 3-4 minutes verus the 20 recommended minutes and man did i regret that . . . not only do you get the slimes but the pain that accompanies it is very uncomfortable, feels like something keeps crawling up your throat and then goes back down. . .very nasty. . . hope this helps
