Less than 24 Hours
thinoneday replied to txaggiemom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll do great! The pain is minimal, just make sure you walk, walk, walk. . .can't stress that enough, you'll do great. . the hyst for me was alot worse, this is like more of an annoying pain, not a "Oh my God, I'm dying" pain. . . take your meds, walk, and you'll be fine. . . good luck we'll all be thinking about you. . . check in when you can! -
I wonder if I am on track
thinoneday replied to Deb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor is quite right, those with higher BMI's and more weight to lose will lose more than those with lower BMI's and less weight to lose. . .don't be discouraged, like the previous post said, "slow and steady wins the race" You don't want to lose too fast. . . yes I lost lots of weight in the first 7 weeks, but now it's slowed down to a screeching halt. . . but i'm not frustrated. . at least i'm not weighing 332 anymore and that makes me happy. . . so now that i'm in the 270's ( I don't weigh myself, only at doctor appts) i'm a happy camper and to me it's a whatever progress from here on out now . I look good and I feel good, im into 1 XL's from 4XL, so if the weight wants to come off good for it, if not, good for it too. . . i'm doing what i'm supposed to and that is all that counts. . . i've never weighed less then 250 (I wear size 14/16 at that weight), so if i lose that 20 extra pounds horray for me, if I lose more, we'll deal with it. . . good luck on your journey ! :001_smile: -
I had a rumball today and it was so good, no guilt here! I'm glad it had it. . . now i won't have that craving ever again!

Anyone come home the same day?
thinoneday replied to LyndaRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well sweetie, yes you would be nutty to come home the day of surgery. . .as one RN to another, you know how major surgery goes . . the anesthesia alone is enough to keep you overnight. . . then you need to do the leak test the 2nd or 3rd day. . . i would want to stay in the hospital to do this test and not have to come back. . . not only that, but why would you want to come home? You do need your rest. . . good luck on your decision! I stayed the complete 3 days and boy was i glad I did . . . -
does the chat room work now?

Taking Pills Post Op - Worried
thinoneday replied to chmood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right after surgery I was given my pain pills whole, not crushed, chewed or powdered. . .my doctor had me take my lasix, and amiloride, and pain meds whole with a sip of water or two. . . so I don't think taking your pills will be a major problem. . . -
If we are to get 30 g of carbs or less, how much grams of fat are we supposed to get as well?

Anyone post op experience leg cramping at night?
thinoneday replied to Keys Pirate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I was for a while there and since I suffer from low potassium, i had to go back onto my potassium supplements. . . the doctor did tell me to also increase my Water intake, so i did. . . and it's getting better. . . oh and be really careful of those bananas, they have lots of carbs! :tongue_smilie: -
Hi Red, thanks for that nice compliment. . anything i can do for you advice wise I will. . . this sleeve thingy is awesome, but you will have days as any other. . . some will be good, great and some will be blah. . . the one thing to really remember to succeed is to walk right after surgery. . . don't pity yourself and lay around in bed, get up and go and do it often, you won't have bad gas pain, and your bowels will get moving. . .I was up and about at 6 hours after surgery. . . sipping will be tough but try. . . take your pain meds as needed ok, it helps alot with the walking. . . just ask and know that i'm here for you whenever you need me ok! Good luck and ask away!

How are you feeling???
thinoneday replied to pastorgregumc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well I really never felt bad since day one. . . only if i ate too fast or didn't chew well. . .I'm 10 weeks out and today was amazing. . . I got up at 8 am and had the irresistable urge to do major yard work. . hoeing weeds was in my stars, man I went out there in my back yard where the thistle had grown as tall as my bbq (and I'm not kidding) and hoed them all down, I had so much energy today! Yes it hurt, but man did it feel good to be doing something so very productive! I hoed everything down, raked it and it looks good, now i just have to spray some weed killer for the small succulant weeds and then fertilize it and thats it. . . i have not been able to sit still very long today, whats going on I have no idea! But i like it. . . even went for a walk at 10:30 to pick up the mail. . . never done that before! -
Second Thoughts. Did anyone else feel this?
thinoneday replied to lovemyhorseys's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Let me tell ya honey! I researched the sleeve for over 1 year, did the seminars and everything. . . joined this forum got all the information, thought for sure i was so ready. . . had my surgery . . . totally hated the sleeve for the first 1 week! absolutately hated it. . . i wished that they had a trial thing before you buy you know. . . it was miserable. . . couldn't drink how i used to, had to be a lady about it, couldn't eat the way i used to, had to be a lady about it, had to learn all over again. . . THEN i went to my first weigh in after 1 1/2 weeks. . . lost 32 lbs. . . wow, maybe this isn't so bad. . . continued to b . . . ch about how i couldn't eat this or that, drink this or that. . . eat and drink less then what a bird does. . . yada yada yada. . . went to weigh in at 7 weeks out . . wow lost 53Lbs. . .how cool is that. . . clothes were fitting so nicely, went from 4X to 2 - 1 XL depending on cut. . . wow . . . well now at 10 weeks out i eat whatever, mind you it's in polite portions, no longer do i eat like a damn barbarion, but like a cultured thinner person. . . the sleeve allows me to do that. . . it's not all that bad. . .sometimes i mess up and gulp a bit more poweraid then i should. . . wow does it let me know that. . . sip my dear, pinky up and sip! hehehe . . . it's a great tool. . . a pain in the arce at times, but just imagine, you can go for take out, eat a bit and have all that left over for lunches and dinners. . . no cooking. . . it's great. . . i've lived with my fat self for 47 years, be damned if i live with fatness any longer. . .this was the only way and I'm glad i did it . . . would i do it again? YES . . . good luck we are all here for you whenever you need us ok? :thumbup1: -
I tried that elliptical thing! Never again! I died at 3 minutes. . .i've been battling with a major pulled thigh muscle for over a week, can hardly walk. . . talk about a dangerous piece of equipment! hehehehe. . . i'll stick to walking once i can. . . .

water doesn't get down well.....
thinoneday replied to johan22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as the tea is decaff it's ok, but i was like you, didn't like water at all in the beginning, couldn't get enough fluids down and would have loved to gulp a great big cold glass of plain water. . . but that wasn't going to happen, so instead i drank everything else for then . . . i'm about 10 weeks out now and can drink my 77 oz of plain water . . . not gulping mind you , but it goes down without a problem. . . hang in there it does get better . . . :thumbup1: Loser, wow man, your doing excellently on your diet! Look how much you've lost! Keep up the fantastic work. . . my weight loss has slowed down to a screeching halt. . . but that is ok, I know i'm not eating 1/2 has much as i used to and i'm doing what i should be doing. . . so whatever. . . .it'll go eventually. . . . godspeed to you! -
Mine costed me $15,500 that included a 3 day stay at a very private hospital, the surgeon, anestheia, 1 year of after care, monthly visits and weigh ins. . .and a doctor at my beakon call if i need him. . .a hospital only 10 minutes away in case of emergency. . . (my doctor is also the medical director of that same hospital)
-
Sorry can't help you with that. . . I stayed close to home and had my surgery right here in San Antonio. . . don't trust those mexican countries. . .but that is my only opinion. . . good luck

Very true Pumpkin, I used to drink diet cokes like they were going out of style before my sleeve, on November 20th, 2009 I kicked all bad habits, no more diet cokes, no more high sugar snacks, no more chips, no more ice cream etc. . . guess what? I don't crave those things anymore either. . . after the surgery on Dec 29th, 2009, I have not had one craving for anything BAD. . . I'm sooo happy. . . if i do get a funky craving for "something but what" I drink sugar free grape crystals. . . that usually satisfys whatever ails me. . . good luck!

thinoneday replied to SParkle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My grocery bill is about $25.00 for 2 weeks. . . not to shabby huh? I hate shopping so the clothing isn't a problem. . . as a fat girl I have all sizes in my closet from 4XL to M (have gone from 4XL to 2 - 1XL, depending on cut). . . so I have lots of clothes. . . good luck on your journey, you'll do well. . . -
