Another Protein Shake Question
thinoneday replied to Teresa 47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
bless your heart, it is pretty bad when something gets sicking. . .i don't drink them everyday, only every now and then. . .if i find that i want to eat something, i'll try to substitute the meal for one Protein Drink, usually it's thirst and not hunger and the Protein shake does good for me that way. . i have heard along the vine and my doctor, that as long as you get in your 70 grams of protein per day your ok. . it doesn't necessarily have to be with the shakes. . so i count protein grams. . . lots of cheeses, yogurts, soft meats likes chicken and fish. . . good luck! -
After 15 weeks post-op...
thinoneday replied to MidwestGirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yippee for you! Only 1.5 lbs away to halfway! That is amazing, good for you. . . we work so hard for all of this don't we, but this sleeve thingy makes it a bit easier. . . i still have days when i don't like it, but it's ok, I wouldn't give it back! Keep up the great work and the best of luck to you! -
I'd be interested to know how many of us still experience REAL hunger?
thinoneday replied to Cherrydrop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup, true hunger here. . . I'm about 4 months out and have true stomach hunger. . I have learned the difference between head and tummy hunger and it's real tummy hunger. . . but i've also learned to ignore it. . . this part is kinda stupid, but I like the tummy hunger pangs, shows the I'M in control now and not my tummy. . .Yeah I know, power and control freak, . . but that's me! hehehe -
Good for you! It's always so much easier when the family is aboard with this thing. . .it took me 1 1/2 years just to convince hubbie to come to a seminar with me. . . I have lost a bunch of weight, I only weigh at the doctor appointments, and have another appt on Wednesday, so I'll be able to move my ticker. . . after this appt however, i'm getting a scale and will weigh weekly. . . don't become a slave of the scale. . that will definately set you up . . . many folks here get really dishearted when they don't see the weight falling off. . . but remember Rome wasn't built in a day either. . . it took you this long to get fat, it's gona take a while to loose it too. . . Good Luck!!!!
-
Alright Paula!!!!!!!! You totally rock girl! I can't wait til i reach 100 lbs lost! That will be so cool! Keep up the good work, it pays off in the end!
-
' This is exactly what i worry about. . . i know i have tons of weight left to loose, but i can tell it's dropping off me like mad . . people at work are calling me "flacka" or skinny in spanish . . . it's not insulting at all, but what are they seeing that i am not???? my tummy burns when i get stressed. . also this morning for some oddball reason i had really bad diarrhea with extreme pain in the intestial tract which made me vomit tons of bile (I don't have a gallbladder) this went on for about 1 hour, I was soooo tired after that i took a 1 1/2 hour nap woke up really hungry but could tell my tummy was hurting. . . ate without a problem and carried on for the day without another episode. . . go figure. . . after this doctor appt on wednesday, I am getting a scale and will start weighing myself cause i think i'm losing pretty quickly too. . .

One month out today
thinoneday replied to Can.sleeved's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't become a slave of the scales. . .i only weigh myself at the doctor appts once a month. . . i go again on the 21st! When i came home from my surgery i threw my scale out because i feel, it sets you up for dissappointment. . . good luck! You are both doing great!!!! -

I need some help with a 400 calorie daily intake
thinoneday replied to Smelly Melly's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hi, I eat a lot of seafood. . I hardly have starches. . and I certainly don't eat potatoes, rice, pasta, or bread (has to be very very toasted almost burned) . . .I enjoy a very large array of seafood and it goes down really well. . .also chicken and turkey (mostly chicken, turkey is kinda tough) and NO beef! too fiberous might hurt tummy. . . some veggies, brussel sprouts, eggplant, lentils, beans. . . I find that green peas, carrots, and corn are not very easily accepted by my tummy at all. . .come straight up. . . I also have melba toast, sf jello, puddings, and popsicles. . . yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, string cheese, pepperjack cheese and chedder. . . lots of cheese. . .I've done take out food, but it's too much and i don't like to eat the same food for days on end. . .i enjoy homemade soups too. . . good luck, hope this helps! -
How much non-surgical shrinkage is possible?
thinoneday replied to ouroborous's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Just to shed some humor on the situation, I have a lot of "apron" skin from 2 pregnancies and obesity, I told my hubbie that once i loose all my weight, I would just use duck tape and tape it in place! hahahaha . . . won't be getting anymore surgery, too much of a risk now. . . they couldn't find anymore IV sites, had to use jugular this time. . .where they did try to start an IV, the areas are still black and blue and hard, it's been 4 months. . . not good . . -
Daily Calorie Total for those of you 6+ months out
thinoneday replied to ash's topic in Food and Nutrition
Hi! I sometimes count and sometimes don't . . . I use the myfitnesspal.com to do counting for me. . it counts carbs, proteins, and calories. . . just enter what you eat that day and thats it. . . it takes time to increase in calories, in the beginning it is really tough, but it comes with time, I'm about 4 months out and still only get about 570 - 800 calories in a day. . .depending of course, if i eat a piece of chocolate or something of course the calories go up. . . but that is far and few between. . . good luck! -
Welcome to the losers side! Sore or not, get up and walk! If you don't you'll have really bad gas pains. . . it'll be ok, come on get up go walk . . .and sip your fluids, they are going to taste nasty, but do the best you can. . . up up, go walk! You can do this . . . do I sound like mom?????

Awww I'm so sorry this is happening to you. . . I completely understand though, like they said the first month is not fun. . .I really hated my sleeve and wished I had never done it (I still have days like that now but not too much, I'm almost 4 months out). . . try different things. . like gatoraid, poweraid, crystal lite, and don't drink cold from the fridge water, that definately cramps a tummy. . .hot tea is good, just make it decaf. . . hot broth is good too. . . try those but just a couple of sips at a time resting at least 2 minutes inbetween sips. . . it does get better but remember it's a learning process. . . for me I was eating and gulping like a barbarian for 47 years then suddenly my tummy was snatched away and now i have to relearn to sip and chew like a lady. . . (pinky up) Good luck, you'll be ok. . .keep us posted

I'm almost 4 months out now and still have hunger pangs (real ones, not head hunger) mine never went away either, but most times i've learned to ignore it. . . actually i don't mind the pangs anymore cause it shows that I'm in control and not my tummy anymore! Weird huh? Tuna patties are really easy to make, I don't follow a receipe, I'm one of those that throw stuff together and good luck type of thing. . . you get 2 cans of tuna in Water, drain it really good, put it into a bowl, add 2 eggs, 1/2 a tube of ritz sodium/fat free ritz crackers (crush them up into crumbs), thinly sliced up celery stalk, diced up onion (about 1/4 of the onion) couple hits of Mrs. Dash Original, couple hits of curry powder (optional) and some black pepper. Mix everything up really good. This should be a wetish mixture so don't worry if it looks watery. Heat up some oil in a frying pan, form the tuna into patties like a homemade hamburger (not too thin, those will break) fry them until they are brown on each side. I put them onto paper towels after they are cooked just to get rid of some of the oil drippings. . . they are pretty good. Make sure you don't turn them too soon or they may break, gotta be really good a brown before you do turn ok? Let me know how you like em. . .

Oh gosh no! it was a guy, but he doesn't hardly come in anymore. . this fool just thought he knew everything about anything and was very very rude about some comments made by others. . .i'm so glad he had either decided to chill out or go away. .

Went to sam's club and bought pants
thinoneday replied to pumpkin07's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
hahaha, Mary I love your "pants on the ground" That is so cute! -
I totally agree with Tiffy and Faith, my hubbie and i are very open about what we want, so we have discussed this and now i know what he likes and he knows what i like, no problems there . . . you have to be open and explain what you like with out being embarrassed. . . then it works fantastically. . . good luck

yes, i do work out and at work i move around like a mad woman! today was one of those "I don't have time to think" days and when i got lunch at 2 pm I didn't realize i was hungery. . . but i sure was, so i had my 2-3 tuna patties and was overly full. . . then i left work at 5pm and ate some cheese sticks on route home. . . felt pretty full and didn't have supper. . . feel pretty good. . . but i guess i'm one of those unfortuates who feels the hunger pangs. . . and they are not in my head. . . i stop and listen to my tummy to make sure it's not that and most times it's not. . . but i guess the more i ignore it the sooner i'll get used to it. . . actually this might sound stupid, but i love the "empty hunger pang" feelings. . .makes me feel like I'M the one in control and not my stomach. . . but good luck!

Need Encouragement and/or a slap on the head!
thinoneday replied to TxSam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
don't be sad honey, your tummy is still swollen and your probably still retaining fluids. . . I have a friend who had her sleeve done about 1 week after me and to date she has only lost 25 lbs in 13 weeks. . . it's all about your own body. . . some bodies go faster and some bodies go slower. . don't be discouraged it will happen! Hell we are so restricted that we eat less then some birds! it will come off, just be patient and don't weight every day, only once a week. . . some of the gals and guys here weigh in only on mondays and then chat about it. . . i only weigh in at my doctor at my monthly meetings with him. . . i go again on the 21st. . . i can feel that i haven't lost much, but anything will be ok for me at this point. . . right now i'm losing very very slowly, but at least its coming off right and that is the important thing. . . .good luck my dear, you'll be ok. . . :tongue_smilie: -
harder than i thought....
thinoneday replied to HEARTONMYSLEEVE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I can totally relate with your feelings. . in the beginning I really hated my sleeve and really wished i hadn't done it. . . but you know after my check up after 1 1/2 weeks and i noticed i lost 32 lbs i thought "ok not too bad" and kept doing what the doctor wanted. . . . eating according to the menu given me. . . then after 7 weeks i went to the doctor again for a weigh in and saw a 53 lb loss. . . was i ever happy. . . i'm now 14 - 15 weeks out and there are days i still don't like this sleeve, but the way clothes fit now and how i look and get compliments beat being obese and unhappy. . .I don't know if i'd do it again, maybe, but i don't know. . . but i'll tell you the results are great. . . it'll get better that i can say confidently but it's how you are going to accept it that is hard to say. . . keep your chin up and just think how great you'll look in the end. . . I wish you all the luck and know that we are all here for you during this time of transition. . . We've been there and will help you ok? :tongue_smilie: -
Sigh...so now my husband is trying to talk me out of it
thinoneday replied to goodlife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
trust me it's normal. . . my hubbie didn't give in to my wanting this for 2 years. . then he finally agreed to come to a seminar. . . after that he was the one who suggested the sleeve. . . i think it was that he wanted the ability to make the decision. . . so when he said he wouldn't support the band but would the sleeve, i just thanked him and let it be. . . but of course i made the decision along with the doctor to move very quickly on it before hubbie changed his mind. . . i can understand your hubbies worry, most do worry cause they can't imagine life without you. . . but they should understand too that we need to be happy and healthy. . . being obese is a definate death sentence i think. . . he should think of that too. . . good luck and i know it'll be ok whatever you both decide. . . we are here for you!:tongue_smilie: -
I am out almost 4 months and still feel hunger (big time hunger too). . .only i ignore it most times. . . i'll eat my laughing cow cheese (2 wedges) for breakfast about 7am . . lunch is at about 2pm and i'll have 2 or 3 tuna patties, or 4 oz of something . . . then on my way home from work i'll have 2 sergento's pepper jack cheese sticks . . . at home for dinner about 7pm i'll have 4 - 6 oz of whatever there is. . . and that's it. . . in between meals i drink alot of water . . . i'm sure i surpass the 64oz requirements. . . my calories are anywhere from 750 - 900 or so per day depending on the day. . . but yes, i ignore the hunger pangs all the time or else this sleeve thingy would never work for me, sad but true. . .

MILESTONE (for me) + 2 QUESTIONS
thinoneday replied to pastorgregumc's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations on the weight loss! Very well done! I have slowed down to a snails crawl right now, but that is ok for me. . at this weight I look good, feel good and am happy. . .i'm at the point if i lose more good for me if not good for me (i go to the doc again for weigh in on the 21st, will see what i've lost at that time). . . peanut butter question, i am allowed it, but only the one called Naturally More with Flaxseed. . I don't eat it alot because peanut butter and me don't really like each other, so i bought this small jar and it's still there, have used about 4 tblspn of it since february. . . :lol0: but i would follow the advice from your doctor too. . . he did the surgery he probably has his own protocols that he wants you to follow. . . -

thinoneday replied to determined1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
determined1, can totally relate with you. . i too had endo and of course had several d&c's, endometrial ablazion, and so on. . when all that didn't work, had a hysterectomy at 30 while on the surgery table ran into all sorts of problems with the anesthestia had to leave 1 ovary and cervix intact. . . ok well the problems didn't stop there, 2 years ago i was diagnosed with cervical ca. . . well FINALLY got that puppy taken care of and out it came! Now i'm under really close watch for the ca to show up elsewhere. . . so far so good. . . so if your having the hyst, make sure they take the cervix. . .your gona love your hyst. . .I sure have! :wink0:
