  1. NO! I am exactly like you! I used to hate sweetened drinks even with splenda. . .after surgery i LOVE sweetened drinks, i drink SF grape drink mixed in Water and strawberry crystal lite, i love sweetened tea (splenda of course) and I love sweetened coffee (used to drink it straight) I love everything sweetened now. . . go figure! :biggrin0:

    When does it stop

    Just like PNW218, I only get the gurgling and burpies when i try new foods or food that won't agree with my tummy. . . otherwise there is nothing much. . . the soreness i really can't talk to you about much because this was my 18th major surgery so i've become somewhat "numb" to pain, i didn't really experience any pain with this surgery except for gas pain, but that is something that walking can take care of. . . good luck!

    Well when you get onto the plane you could ask for skim milk for your shaker cup and mix the protein in it. . (skim milk makes the protein drink taste better) yes, bring the shaker cup and if they don't have milk, then i guess they should have water to use in the meantime. . .I have used a power aid bottle to mix things in. . . i bought the diet poweraid and drank it, but you can dump it if you wish and use the bottle. . . i love it, it's light weight and versatile, but make sure you wash it out good. . . what i used to do with the shopping part is have them put only a couple of items into bags, push the cart out to the car and then put them in. . .you should be able to lift some things, not anything over 20 lbs though. . . you'll do fine, make sure you do drink alot of water on the plane though and try to wander around in the cabin while in the air, good luck and let me know how it goes. . .wow your boss seems really strict, you are really not supposed to go back to work for about 2 weeks. . .

  6. Hi! Welcome! Yes of course honey, my doctor was Dr. Ramiro "Sonny" Cavazos. . he is at NE Baptist and is the best bariatric physician I know. . I'm a registered nurse and know alot of physician so when I say he is really good, trust me, he is. . . he answers all your questions without hesitation and is very approachable. . . he looks like a young Douggie Houser but he has tons of experience. . . he is gentle and considerate. . . I am really glad i chose him. . . my surgery experience was wonderful, not too much pain, just minimal, but as long as you walk as ordered your fine. . i've not had any sort of problems at all, no leaks, nothing . . I've lost a total of 70.5 lbs so far in 14 weeks . . . he makes sure you have all your doctor visits and you can call the office anytime if you have concerns. . . I think you would really like him. . . good luck and keep me posted!

I really hate melatonin, makes me dream really weird, and everything doesn't make sense, like purple grass, orange sky, steps that float upside down, and rabbits with horse tails. . . then when i wake up i am so exhausted like i never slept a wink. . . it's not a good med, nyquil and benedryl are sooooo much better for me. . . there was a lady on this forum named breekahouse, she was totally panicked about the surgery too . . you should find her and talk to her about it. . . she would be able to help you with your worries, she had her surgery and came out of it just fine. . .
  8. well this is what i've done, made it flat and drank it slowly, it was so yummy. I hadn't had a pepsi since November 20th 2009, i had it and loved it. . . but now i don't want anymore. . . i find that when i satisfy my urges that's it no more after that . . .

    Stall!!!!

    like tiffy says, a few more calories should help. . . i shake it up alot during the week. . one day i'll have 500 calories then another day i'll have 1000, then back down to 750 for a couple days and then back up. . . my body seems to like it. . . i bought a scale now and will be weighing myself weekly since i won't be seeing doctor for the next 3 months. . .so i'll be griping about stalls too i'm sure! good luck to you!

    NSV shout outs

    I actually think its fun. . . sometimes it's irratating especially when you spent so much money on a pair of pants, could never wear them cause they were too small and now you try them on and they are too big. . . errrrrrr that is irratating big time. . . otherwise it's fun. . . i bought a new pair of uniform pants 2 weeks ago in XL and as of today, they are too big, I'm going to need L now. . . i am not buying anymore uniforms, i'll take them in first. . . yeah right???? :001_tongue: I can't even sew. . . hehehehe

    Can.sleeved's spouse

    Hi there. . . after i was sleeved i had all sorts of different sleeping habits. . couldn't fall asleep, couldn't stay asleep, hated to go to bed, needed to go to bed. . couldn't sleep enough. . . it was horrible. . so i made a routine. . made darn sure i was in bed by 10pm, drugged myself with either benedryl, or nyquil or tylenol pm and made dang sure i got to sleep. . .now i get sleepy by 9:30pm go take my shower, head for bed and sleep like the dead until 5:52am every day (i get up at 6 am) . . . so you eventually get back to routine, but you have to train yourself to do it too. . . good luck. . .

    OMG I have a date...

    Raging headache is caused from the detoxification . . your body is so used to eating whatever, now you have stopped feeding it and it is rebelling, just like a teenager! Be strong, don't give in, be in control of your tummy don't let it control you . . . it's tough but you can do this. . it also prepares you for you post op diet. . . you'll do good. . . if your thinking about food, have stuff to drink instead. . . we're more than happy to see you around here, that is what we're here for. . . :sad0:

    wooohooooo, i just had the best grilled cheese sandwich on the earth! I even ate the whole thing without sliming or having that "got stuck" feeling! Yahooo. . . it was great! I loved it. . . (sorry just had to share that)

    I would love to help you if i can. . . i'm definately not a master of anything, but have been travelling this sleeve journey for the past 4 months and have had my share of ups and downs. . i've lost a total of 70.5 lbs in this 4 months and hope to loose lots more. . . so anything i can help you with i'll definately try ok. . . the others here on the forum are very wise too. . .

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! :thumbup: I am so proud of you ! It's a long struggle but together we will all get there! Keep up the great work. . . i too went to my monthly doctor visit today and lost 8 lbs. . . slow but at least its a loss and not a gain! Can you imagine that ! I don't have to go now until July, I would like to loose about 30 lbs by then . . wish me luck! I got me a scale too, and now will be weighing myself every week. . . wish me luck with that too! I'm so lame! hehehe. . . well keep posting your progress Tracy and in no time you'll see how thin you really are! Good luck all. . . .

    it nobody biz right???!!

    Here comes me Nikki . . . my mom is just like yours only my mom is 80 and i forgive her yappy mouth cause she is old and loves to be social and have her friends. . .I didn't want her to tell anyone either, but if it makes her little 80 year old self happy then go for it. . . doesn't your mom feel quilty about yapping your business to others? Doesn't she have respect for you? Or is she really really worried about you and this surgery that she just spills it all over the place? Moms are weird. . I find myself being like that with my daughter too and so many times i have told myself i would not do that, but here i am doing it. . it's a learned thing, her mom must have done that to her too. . . it's so maddening i understand, but it's only words . . . your mom is there for you and always will be, but i always think just for how much longer . . . why they do things is way beyond me. . . i'm probably just rambling and you probably think i'm full of poopoo, but having your mom is precious cause once they are gone whom do we have?

Hi and welcome, I didn't have to follow a pre op diet at all and that made me happy. . .every doctor is different and you may not have to do a pre op diet at all. . . and it makes perfect sense to me. . . i understand that some people have in it their minds that they are not strong enough and will fail at the preop diet making them not be able to have surgery. . . don't worry, it's a pain, but if you want this bad enough, it's amazing how quickly your time will go and before you know it, it'll be your surgery date. . . good luck and keep us informed. . :biggrin0:

    Feeling frustrated...

    Hi, sorry to hear your stressing. . but girl look how far you have come. . a long way. . yes we have lots left to lose, but hey you didn't get overweight in one day either. . you have done a fantastic job and as swift said you could be in starvation mode, increase your calories. . . i am losing very very slowly too (can tell in my clothing they fit the same now for a while) but you know what, i love myself how i am. . i am so happy to be at this weight, i feel good, look good, and best of all my hubbie loves me this way. . .i would love to feel, and look better, but heck if this is it , then i'm happy. . .i can bathe myself, clean myself and have no more problems pulling my back everytime i would bend, twist or reach. . . i go to the doctor on Wednesday and will get weighed in then, after that i am buying a scale and will do a monday weigh in with y'all. . . you'll be ok, physically you can't ever overeat again like before and that is good. . i would say, "yes" you chose wisely when you chose to have the sleeve. . . keep your chin up, it'll be ok, increase your calories abit and get some other sources of protein other then the shakes. . . good luck! keep us informed!

    Hi and Welcome! You'll love this forum it's lots of fun, and has loads of information and support! Well lets see, my first consult was in October 2009 and my surgery was scheduled on Dec 29th, 2009, so in about 2 months (of course i had to see the nutritionist and psych eval too. . but that was done in 1 day). .     So I overdid it today!

    Girl! Don't worry the small stuff. . . you can't go wild like you did before. . .I usually let my weekends go to the dogs too. . . no, i don't eat chocolate, cakes, or junk, but i do eat and don't eat . . for example i won't eat Breakfast, then at about 10ish i'll have coffee and a piece of toat with butter. . .then around 1ish i'll chew on cheese and crackers, then about 3ish i'll have tea with a teaspoon or 2 of condensed milk and maybe another couple of crackers. . . then i'll cook dinner and have whatever i've cooked in small amounts of course . . . then later i'll have a fat free blue bunny ice cream (yum). . . but during the week, i am really good. . . :thumbup:
