What are you telling work?
thinoneday replied to TnT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A bad case of ulcers can cause a person to have stomach surgery and weight loss. . . just a thought:001_rolleyes: -
hi, my husband gets liquid fish oil at GNC. It comes plain or flavored. . I would think the plain is better then minty fish oil????? Smh

Will craving junk food stop with sleeve?
thinoneday replied to davidblackmisty's topic in Food and Nutrition
Excellently said! I couldn't agree more. . .adults must lead by example. . not the kid. . .sit them down and let them know that as of today things will change and everyone will start getting healthier, not after the fact. . . -
Will craving junk food stop with sleeve?
thinoneday replied to davidblackmisty's topic in Food and Nutrition
This is an excellent question, and here is my response . . . the sleeve will not make you stop the cravings, you have to be the one to stop. . . the sleeve is only a tool. . like a hammer, it's there to use to drive the nail, it will not drive the nail itself. . .I love junk as much as the next person, but even with the sleeve you have to be disciplined enough to combat the feelings. . .lots of head hunger will be there, but you have to be strong enough to want weight loss first. . . Good luck! -
What a wonderful accomplishment! Doesn't it feel great? YES IT DOES!! congratulations to you and you'll have many more too come! Just wait until you can gallop up about 2 flights of stairs and not realize you just climbed stairs??? That happened to me one time too. . . I was so busy thinking about something else that i didn't realize i had climbed 2 flights of stairs! I actually had to stop and think about it. . . very cool! And just wait til you actually fit very comfortably in the plane seat! AND pull the safety belt with about 12 inches to spare!!!!! Woot Woot! Keep up the fabulous work!

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
thinoneday replied to Donna4545's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Those conferences are something else! You probably didn't get your exercise or Water in either. . . that is a big one. . . when i go to conferences i make sure i get to that tiny gym or pool everyday, and drink tons of water. . . drink more things rather then eat. . . that could help. .and be careful, most of that food is over salted so you could have been only retaining water. . . you'll lose it here quickly! it could be worse! cheers! -
I can't do oil anything, for tummy upset or bloat i eat a teaspoon of sugarcoated fennel seeds (get it at the East Indian grocery), as far as my hair, nails, and so on, well I tried biotin but it didn't do a thing for me. . I tried the different shampoos and other concoctions but it didn't work either. . . soooooooooooooooooo what is too be is to be is my theory now. . .I've lost tons of hair (could have made about 10 wigs I'm sure) but it's starting to slow down now, i'm lucky i don't have any bald spots, but it does look like the rat chewed on it in places. . . after it stops falling out and starts growing again, i'll probably cut it abit. . .

where are the heavyweights?
thinoneday replied to Globetrotter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You guys crack me up! I love this thread! I'm right in there with y'all, EXCEPT I'm 6'0 tall !!! I DONT need to hem anything! I have a 36 inch leg size (I know!! all legs) have to add material! hehehehehe. . . . I at my heaviest was 350+ (give or take a pound or two) at surgery I was 332, and now am 225 lb. . . doctor wants me to weigh 170, but I think my bones weigh more then that! hehehe. I don't ever remember weighing 170 lbs. . .as a kid we had no scales, and at 12 years old i went to the doctor and weighed 222 lbs. . . so for me to get to 170 is interesting considering that i am 3 lbs away from what i weighed at 12???? But now it's become a personnel thing. . . lets see how much i can lose and lets see how i'll look at that weight???? UMMMMMMM very interesting. . . -
I think I might be eating too much?!
thinoneday replied to jenn20's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all here, just follow your doctors orders and their plan and you'll be ok. . I am now 8 months out and still have to "think" about what i'm doing. . . no, not that i can eat hordes of food, I still keep my calories at about 850 - 900 per day, but i can eat more often during the day. . . and i have found that carbs go down really really good (very bad) . . . so i have to watch that too. . . this surgery has been a blessing for me (as for all of you as well) but as my weight comes closer to goal, i have to really watch. . just like before surgery. . .i have to exercise, eat properly, not snack, and if i do, i have to snack within moderation, drink my water (yuk, I use crystal lite or sugarfree koolaid and i still get about 68oz down daily). . .it does take work to get to goal, but it's not as hard. . . good luck, your doing fabulous! Keep it up! -
NOW HERES A TRUE AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I so totally agree that we are not here to kiss butt, but to support and help, and if that means some toes are going to get stepped on, then so be it! You totally rock Donna!:biggrin0:

Never let another person or place be in control of you and your actions. You must stay in control of yourself. I understand that it is painful and no one seems to care, but you didn't do this for them, you did this for you. Keep your head held high, you came a long way to get to this point don't sabatoge it now because of others. . . it's not worth that. You will feel extra horrible if you eat yourself silly now. . .first off you'll hurt, and possibly puke, and secondly do you really want to go back to how you were??? I didn't think so. . . so change your self talk and love yourself for you. . .Good luck

thank you all! Anytime, I and this forum, we are here for y'all. . . it is a journey for sure, sometimes tough with tears and sadness, but most times it's with joy and trumphet! Just know we are all here to support each other, and at times, like most families, we will experience "fights" and disagreements, but in all we still continue to help each other. . . so any questions that need answering, ask away!
-
thank you everyone, yes there were moments of frustration, but like mini me, I kept telling myself, I'm close to goal and I'm still better off now then i was 8 months ago! So if there are stalls and life seems harder, just get up and fight and in the end you will win! We will all win with perserverance and determination!

Hi all, me too, i've lost over 120 lbs from highest weight to now. . .I weighed 332 on surgery day but my highest weight was 350. . . the wow moment on my journey was when we were moving my daughter into her apartment which is on the 2nd floor and no elevators. . . i could go up and down the stairs (25 of them) without any problems at all. . . i could help carry the couch up and all other things of heavy nature without a problem. . .I wasn't even out of breath. . . it was effortless!!!! I love it. . . there are days i hate the sleeve cause i want to eat more, but would i do it again??? YOU BETCHA! Good luck to all of you!

thinoneday replied to vanishingvixen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi welcome ! Your going to do great! Most of us are great, some like to stir the pot at times, but heck it's your forum family and what family doesn't squabble. . . like citizenwill said it's a great forum and you will get tons of info here if you want. . . i'm out now 8 months and have lost tons of weight and still going. . . you'll find ups and downs on your journey, that's for sure, I just had a 3 1/2 month stall. . . not fun, but as long as your determined and willing to help yourself you'll win this journey. . . good luck and once again a big warm WELCOME!!!! -
Wow, thank you for understanding that. . it makes a heck of a difference when someone else has "been there, done that"

Plateau'd Due to Busted Metabolism?
thinoneday replied to FreeToBeMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Girl! I just came off a 3 1/2 MONTH stall. . . it's so frustrating, but this is when all you got comes into play! Be strong, keep going and hide that scale for a while. . .It'll come off. . . your brain now needs to catch up to your body! It needs to think about what has happened. . . Good luck and don't give up! -
Thank you all. . .I'm really glad the stall is broken and that I'm back to rockin' ! hehehe. . . PinkJewels, thank you for your nice comments, I don't watch anything really (I'm 8 months out now) however I DO watch how much of it I have. . . for example, some mornings I'll have my Protein shakes (yeah I'm still on those) and other mornings I'll have a bean and cheese taco. . . takes me about 15 minutes to eat. . then nothing at all til about lunch time, sometimes I'll have 1/4 cup velvetta and shells, or go out for lunch with the gals, and have a appetizer, bring it back. . then mid afternoon or so a fruit of some sort, and then a lean cusine (sp??) for dinner. . . that menu is during the week. . . for the weekend, I have a piece of toast or just coffee for breakie, nothing for lunch or some fruit, then whatever for dinner. . .I'm definately not perfect so I do snack and drink alcohol . . .I'll have 1 or 2 rum and coke every Friday and Saturday evening. . I do eat ice cream, but it's the healthy choice ones which only offer about 100 calories or so, I'll eat chocolate very seldom, but i do. . . my exercise regime is this 5 days a week, off on weekends. . .I do 20 minutes Forest Walk treadmill incline of 1.5; 10 minutes of the ellipitical (not speeding like a demon either but enough to sweat); 20 minutes on the bike at Random Hill, level 9; about 100 sit ups (machine); and about 4 sets of 10 arm exercises, be it chest press, flies, curls, or whatever. . . so it comes out to about 1 hour of exercise daily except Sat and Sun. . . it's the biggest pain in the gluteous maximus (I really hate exercise) but like I told my daughter, the gym won't come to you, you have to get up and go the gym, the people at the gym don't care if your there or not, you have to love yourself enough to do it. . . Cheers!!!! Oh and one more note, I've gone from a snug 4XL to L/XL in clothes (depending on make)!!! 16W pants/shorts and L shirts. . .sure does beat snug 4XL's

I said I wouldn't do it but I did
thinoneday replied to stephany48463's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Bless your heart, I understand how you feel, however, your not doomed! this is what makes us human, trial and error, so we fall down, we don't just stay laying down right? We get up and continue. . .so girl, get up and continue. . .I really don't understand why doctors put y'all on these 2 week liquid diets, i had a bmi of 45 and mine didn't think it was necessary to "torture" a person that way. . . I know from what alot of you say it's because of some liver shrinkage thing. . . I personally think it's a doctor controls the patient thing. . . you'll be ok, you didn't mess up, never think that about yourself, we spent enough years beating ourselves up because we're not good enough. . . just get back up and continue your path. . . Good luck!!!! It's almost over, then the journey REALLY begins. . .and what a journey it is! -
lol. . .pumpkin that made me laugh!

Yes Jane, he gave us the "talents" and it is up to us to either use them wisely or spoil them. Those of us who have chosen to get our WLS have chosen wisely. . .Unfortunely however, this WLS would also fall into one of the 7 deadly sins of "Vanity". . . oh well. . .life goes on huh?????

Hi Jane, can you tell I have some major trust issues because of hurtful pasts? I agree with the cruel and nasty for no good reason issue. . I don't think this makes them happy, I think it's because they are feeling so low and miserable that they want everyone around them to be miserable too. . . you seem like a very good hearted person, stay that way, don't become like me, cause I will probably pass a lonely old lady. . .
