Hi Diann, well i am 9+ months out and just got done doing a 3 1/2 MONTH stall. . . what do you think of that one! At least your not gaining, think of that as a blessing. . . your body needs to catch up with your brain. . . on the carbs side that could be a factor, I only get in 15 - 25 carbs a day. . . yup i follow Adkins diet. . . yup i diet. . . with the sleeve. . . its just a tool anyhow, its not going to make you loose your weight without you helping out. . . like a hammer, it's not going to get up and start banging on the nail without your guidance. . . so check out how many carbs your getting could be way to many making you stall out. . . good luck!

    30-40 grams of carbs??

I recently had a 3 1/2 MONTH stall, what you think of that one???? Talk about frustrating. . . your not going to like to hear this but i maintain my carbs by being on Adkins Diet (very low carbs mine are usually 15- 20 carbs if that). . . yup a diet ! I follow it very strickly, it's so much easier to follow a diet with this TOOL we have been given. . .you have to watch what you eat and follow it carefully. . . i know, i know, "what we got this surgery to diet" . . . well it's just a tool, nothing more. . . just like a hammer, YOU need to used it to make it work. . . the sleeve is the same way, you don't work with it, it won't work. . . you have to watch your intake, measure and weigh, just like before, and of course exercise. . . good luck!
  4. Hi , sorry your having all these issues. . . but you say your having gas pains (swollen) you say your still on fluids (swollen), you say your only 8 days post op (swollen), you say your nauseated (ummmm swollen). . . you need at least 2 - 2 1/2 weeks before you will see any marked results. . . go put the scale into the garage, hide it under something and forget it. . . i used to only weigh at my doctor appts. . . if you weigh yourself too often you will become frustrated and depressed. . . i had buyer's remorse big time, but not because i wasn't losing weight, it was because i couldn't eat as how i wished i could. . . now at 9 months out i am so glad i had this done, and there's no going back! Good luck you'll do ok. . .
  5. Hello and Welcome!! Well its easy to say don't be afraid it'll be alright, but really it will be. This was my 18th major surgery! I'm allergic to all narcotics so had nothing for pain. . .but you know what? It was ok, as long as you walk and sip sip sip, you'll do fine. . At my heaviest i weight 350 now i'm a meer (hehehehe) 220! I have a bit to go, but that is ok. . I take one day at a time, and you have the right attitude, you already realize that you have to work at this and not just sit back and think it'll do all the work for you. . . good for you! Your really going to do well. . . keep posting and keep chatting with us. . . together we can make this dream come true!!!

3 days post op with terrible colics....

I still have the rumbles all the time when i drink something. . (I am 9 months out) but no stomach aches. . . are you sipping small sips and waiting about 1-2 minutes before sips??? Try that and yes sweetie you will eat again. . . like i've been saying throughout this whole forum. . . this sleeve thing is a whole new learning experience. . we have been eating wrong all our lives and suddenly literally overnight, we are expected to change the way we eat, how we eat and what we eat. . . it's not easy, it's a learning phase and it's frustrating and somewhat painful. . . it's a conditioning thing. . . you'll be ok, your going to learn, just be patient and take it one day at the time . . we are all here for you and will help you through it all. . . keep up the good work!

    Annoyed, pissed off, emotional...

See there and the other victory, which is a big one if you ask me, is that you had a reality step. . .you will love your sleeve and like i said don't be so hard on yourself. . love yourself instead and soothe yourself with reflections. . you do love yourself, you went to the trainer and you lost 2 in off the waist:thumbup::thumbup:. . and you posted on the forum:thumbup::thumbup:. . . you care honey, you really do, you don't want to hurt yourself. . . good girl! :biggrin0: Your going to do so well you will be amazed! :wink1: keep on chatting with us and we'll get you through the good, the bad, and the ugly! Annoyed, pissed off, emotional...

Sometimes when we get a slap of reality into us it really hurts us. I'm so sorry you had this horrible day slap you today. . have you had your surgery yet? It's going to be ok. . why would you cut your life short? You have so much more to live for. . not for anyone but yourself. . you are a normal person sweetheart. . your not any different then anyone of us. . .your a warm living human and you deserve to get love, be respected and have friends. If you've not had the surgery yet, just be patient, it'll happen soon. . and then you'll be mad and upset over a whole new thing! The sleeve is an interesting journey but it's one that you will enjoy once you get used to it. . . be patient my dear and don't beat yourself up over something that has already happened. . .just flick it off, pull yourself together and carry on. . . i've been through some major major major depression caused by my weight and other issues, but after all the counseling and hospitalizations, i have come to learn 1 think and that is that only you can make you happy, and that only you can change how you feel. . you made a wonderful choice by going to the trainer and that shows you care about yourself and that is a step into a very positive right direction,. . .I'm very proud of yourself. . . please keep posting and talking. . .we are all here to help and support you . . . know that we care and all have been there done that! Good luck hon and keep going to the trainer! Your doing fabulous!

I'm so happy your doing better. . . i understand totally about the not being able to take a big bite of something. . .it sucks sometimes, but that is the lifestyle change we must endure. . . i eat my meals on a teacup saucer or in a small dessert nappe. . . i've been doing this for 9 months so can you imagine how i feel when i go out to eat and they bring out the food? I'm like, "ma'am, could you bring a to-go box please" most times they look at me weird and one time one said "but you haven't even started eating" but got it for me anyhow. . . hehehehe i love it:lol0: have you tried the benefiber powder? I use that along with metamucil wafers and Fiber advantage gummies. . definately don't have a problem anymore

Hi there, i enjoy the bariatric advantage products, they are really good for me. . I loved and still enjoy the chicken boullion cubes, you can get them with 1/2 the salt as well. . . 2 1/2 weeks is good. . . you will need the rest. . i took off that much time and was glad i did. . . . vitamins are good for you even if you don't have surgery. . . your not re routing your system like with the RNY but vitamins are good. . I still take my B12 sublingual (at walmart) vitamin D (gummies and RX) multivitamins (gummies). . . don't do gummies right away I just now started taking them (i'm 9 months out). . . NSV shout outs

I had a NSV yesterday! There is this really neat clothing store called DOTS here in San Antonio and my daughter needed to go and get a pair of jeans. . i went with her and just for kicks thought i would try on this really cute outfit in size 20. . . .Wooooo way too big!! ok, lets try the outfit in a 18 . . . just right and so cute I actually bought it. . (for those of you who don't me, I don't buy clothes often, I make due with what i have or find in my daughter's closet) but i bought this cause it was really cute~ so i went from size 32 to 18 in 9 months. . . isn't that amazing

  21. Congratulations! You will do so well. . . check out my ticker, look how much i've lost in the past 9 months. . you are fixin to do the same thing! nervousness is normal, this was my 18th major surgery and I was really nervous, you never get used to it. . .however, the most important thing to remember hon, is to walk and sip . . . you won't feel like it, but YOU HAVE TOO!!!! Remember you have too, have to do it for your health, so that the gas moves, so that you move and get your weight loss started. . .you are going to fabulous! check in every now and then and let us know how your doing in the hospital ok? best to you
  22. I would go ahead and go the surgery on the 27th. I didn't have to do a preop and i had a bmi of 44. . . my doctor didn't even require it. . . he felt that was unnecessary. . .but the decision is yours, you spent so much time with the insurance company and you really want the surgery, why would you spoil the opportunity???? My doctor believes you can't "shrink" the liver within a 2 week period, it takes a really long time. . . but you make the choice . . . good luck!

    Everyday eating

I can't tolerate salad. . . mostly the lettuce, but tomatoes and cucumbers and green onions are fine, but add lettuce and i almost die. . . also steak doesn't agree at all. . . but that is fine with me, i have never been a fan of steak or brisket anyhow and certain types of sausages. . . everything else is fine for me!
  25. thinoneday

    Pre-op diet, WHY?

I was really fortunate and didn't need a preop diet, my doctor didn't find it necessary cause i was on the "smaller" side with BMI, but if your doctor says your to do it, well then i guess you should do it . . . one lady at my doctors office who had to do the pre op told me the doctor said it was to help with the surgery AND it shows how serious she really was about the surgery. . . cause the surgery is only a tool and you do have to do the work . . .so that to me makes more sense then "shrink the liver" "soften the liver" cause it takes a LONG time to accomplish that task. . . . but if your doc wants you do that cause it "softens the liver" then follow her/his instructions. . .good luck!
