I Had Vsg _____ Ago, And I've Lost _____ Lbs.
thinoneday replied to kimmr's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had VSG 3 years (days, weeks, months, years ) ago, and I've lost 150 lbs. When I started, my goal was to lose 190 lbs, and I am 6-0 tall. Also, that 190 lbs was my own personal goal, (would have brought my weight to 170lbs) my doctors goal for me was to weigh 212 lbs, which i surpassed by 12 lbs. . now i am maintaining beautifully between 200 - 215lbs. . . very proud of myself -
1200-1500 Calories...really?
thinoneday replied to brandymarie81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yup, i have 12- 1300 calories daily. . . but then i'm out 3 years. . i'm maintaining beautifully, not gaining at all, not losing either mind you. . . but he doesn't want me to lose more. I did go 12 lbs under my goal weight. . . so i'm good. . . but for you being out only 2 weeks that is alot of calories. . 600- 900 calories is good if that. . . good luck! don't eat too little, cause that will stop your weight loss in it's tracks. . . -
Always Hungry And Wanting Carb!
thinoneday replied to suzy1230's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You know what? I'm 3 years out and have had that exact problem. . .I will eat my carbs, whatever they may be, but in moderation and then behave myself for the next week or 2. . . I do consider myself pretty lucky, because most of my cravings are protein based. . so I snack on a lot of pepperoni, slim jims, beef/turkey jerky, devilled eggs, cheese. Yes, those things are high in fat, sodium, and calories, but very low in carbs, which to me, is more important. . . I do consume 1000-1300 calories a day and don't gain weight beyond any unreasonable point. . . I've been maintaining beautifully for the past 2 years and love myself for it. . .this is just me though, find something that will work well for you! You've done excellently with your weight loss so far! Keep up the good work and together we'll getter done! Good luck! -
The Elephant In The Room....
thinoneday replied to mrjgetssleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost a total of 150 lbs and because I am 6'0 tall, very large boned, and a woman I am still discriminated against. I've even been asked if I have giantism (now that is painful) I don't have any features which point to giantism, I am beautiful only large boned. In the beginning it was my weight (360lbs before surgery) combined with my height that scared folks. . . now i'm slimmer (size 14/16) but still tall. . . I can't do anything about that though. . .but it still hurts. . . totally understand. . . my mom used to tell me "oh honey, remember what you let out, the shorter ones have to take in". . .my mom has some good ones! hahahah. . . -

thinoneday replied to Mrs.Prisses's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is lettuce and other leafy veggies. . . I get a horrible "call me an ambulance" pain which lasts for over 45 minutes. . .really feel like i'm going to die. . . so no leafy salads for me. . . ever. . and I'm out 3 years. . .but the physician and nutritionist did warn me that many people can't tolerate lettuce and other leafy greens after this surgery. . .they sure were right! -
Always Hungry And Cant Stop Eating Carbs
thinoneday replied to suzy1230's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i completely understand, I went through a phase like that too. i'm 3 years out now and still crave sweets every now and then. . and I have them, but in moderation. . .then I make sure I don't misbehave for the following week or 2. . . this practice has kept me in maintaining stage. . so that's good for me. . . as long as i'm not gaining beyond a certain point, I am as happy as a clam. . . we are human after all right? good luck and your loss is excellent! Keep up the good work! -
hahaha, I remember when my daughter (22) needed surgery and they gave her versad, she was inviting the anesthesiologist to the club and telling the nursing to "drive carefully cause kids these days can't drive" (she was being wheeled to surgery) that was so funny. I am so happy that your endoscopy went well. . You really don't want ulcers cause we don't have enough room for more surgeries after this surgery. . ugh, we'd never be able to eat again! well good luck and hope all goes well. . keep us updated on your status!

Liquid Diet - What Yogurt Is The Best?

Night time tylenol? I don't know about your doctor and don't want to tell you anything going against his/her advice, but my surgeon didn't have any quims about taking whole pills. . so I was allowed to swallow pills like tylenol, benedryl, etc from the first day of surgery. . . but ask your physician first, they are your best resource and everyone is different. -

Broke My 3 Week Stall With.......... Onederland!
thinoneday replied to christin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup it sure does move. . eventually. . . I was in a stall which lasted 7 MONTHS! Horrible frustration, but it eventually moved. . .i guess it was the body's way of trying to catch up with the surgery. . hehehe. . . i was glad it moved. . not much, just 10 lbs but that brought me below goal. . . and I've been there ever since. . no gain and I'm now 3 years out. . . -
How exciting! Keep up the excellent work!

1000 Calories? What Does Your Doc Say?
thinoneday replied to SweetP's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
In the very early beginning I was eating about 500 - 700 calories a day. . now at 3 years out I have anywhere between 1200 - 1300 healthy calories, and am maintaining beautifully. . not gaining or losing, just staying the same and feel great. . . -
Low Vitamine D Levels
thinoneday replied to IrishSoul's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suffer from severe malabsorption of Vitamin D, B12, potassium, and iron. I see the physician regularly for prescriptions of the said vitamins. Blood work is drawn every 3 - 4 months to make sure it's not getting worse. I also try to get outside often, but that is only on weekends cause I work 8 - 5 pm everyday. . .so sunshine doesn't do it for me. . -
Rome wasn't built in one day either. . . have patience, this works. . . I was on a stall after my 1st year which last 7 months. . . i didn't panic or get upset, i was like "whatever" . . this is a great tool and it works very well. . . so be patient and just do what your doing and one more thing "get rid of that scale" those things LOVE to sabatoge everything. . . only weigh once every 2 to 3 weeks. . . or even once a month. . .you'll be very pleased with the results. . . good luck

I'm Back From The Dead, Unsleeved, But I Have A New Surgery Date!
thinoneday replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome back. . I don't think I've "met" you, but I'm so happy things are turning around for you. . .good luck and keep posting with us! -
hate to be a betty downer here, but I hit a stall which stayed with me for 7 months after my 1st year. . .it was very discouraging. After that i only lost an additional 10 lbs and thats it. . .no more. I'm in my 3rd year post op and have been maintaining beautifully. . I have no regrets. If i'm to lose more, great, if not that is ok with me too, cause i feel and look pretty darn good. . So don't fret, it'll come off . . . it's better to lose it slowly anyhow. . . good luck and don't become a slave to the scale. . .

Anyone Tried Bio Oil For Stretch Marks
thinoneday replied to andi0120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn't work. I got some bio oil from a conference I attended and decided to use it as recommended. Nothing. . . .so now I just use the rest that is left over for dry skin, which doesn't work all that well either. . . sorry. . . I'm just really glad it was free, but just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for you. . . good luck -
3 years out and no regrets now! In the beginning (first 3 - 6 months yes) but not anymore. . . would i recommend this surgery? Most definately. . .it has been the best gift for me!

I totally understand this problem! What I did/do was rifle through my 21 year old daughter's closet and find things there which don't fit her anymore either. she has some really cute stuff, young stuff, but stuff that fits and fits very well. . .I get loads of compliments on them as well. . .then there is the thrift store, just something to get you over that "nothing fits" stage until you maintain. . . good luck!

How Long From Start To Surgery Date?
thinoneday replied to mikemeg316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From the seminar to the surgery date it took me about 1 1/2 months. . . but i was self pay, so that helped a lot. -
I'm going into my 3rd year and still can't eat salad. Lettuce, spinach, and any other leafy veggie kills me. Literally, I get that "call me an ambulance" pain that doesn't go away for about 30 minutes. . . so needless to say, I stay FAR away from lettuce and any other raw leafy veggie. . . ugh (I used to love salad)
