thinoneday replied to hoping4moreloss's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Excited/happy finallly!
thinoneday replied to Erin18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know, people for some odd reason don't like to comment about weight loss, weight gain yes, loss no. . . I remember I had lost 100 lbs about 4-5 years ago, my mom, who hadn't seen me in over 2 years came to visit and didn't say a thing. . then just before she left from her visit she turned to me and said "don't lose too much, it's not healthy" . . . thanks mom. . . -

and then it happened
thinoneday replied to kechianyree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to ask a really stupid question right now and please forgive me if I offend or hurt anyone. . accept all apologies from now. . . here it goes. . . has anyone seriously been hurt or possibly died from the lapband surgery? I've seen episodes on the learning channel where people who are incredibly obese 600+ lbs get gastric bypass and die 2 weeks later or never recover from strokes. . .please let me know about this as this is yet another concern of mine before surgery. . . my dr says there are risks as in any surgery, but it is safe??? I've had 17 surgeries already but the 18th could do me in. . .lets chat! -
You may want to check your Iron. . you could be anemic. . . like someone else mentioned too, your b/p. . .get up slowly and bend with your knees. Now that you know that you get dizzy with getting up or bending, be conscience of those movements. . . good luck

Welcome Kelsey, your gonna absolutely love this site for support! You can gripe all you want here and the fun thing is EVERYONE understands. . . I'm just new too, haven't had the band yet though, I'm going to the seminar on the 23rd just so that hubbie can see i'm NOT going to die in surgery! Silly man. . . but I've joined the site and absolutely love it. . . welcome again and 15 lbs is a great start!

Hey, just like a lot of you, I was taught "waste not, want not" we had to clean up our plates . . . we didn't have desserts (thank god) so I'm not a dessert person. . . my genetics however are huge. . . my biological dad is Objibwa Indian, 6'4" tall, 375 lbs, incredible large bone structure, mom is of russian/german descent, but of normal structure, however, her siblings are hugh, 6'0" is short and 350 lbs is the normal weight. . . so here i am 6'0" tall and 330 lbs. . . constant struggle . . . i can lose the weight and have at one time ago (lost 100 lbs) looked pretty darn good, but as soon as i stopped the phentermine, here it all came back on. . . i don't eat desserts, don't like candy, chocolate, ice cream, pies, or cakes, what i do like is good old home cooked FOOD. . . i don't enjoy eat out food either. . so what I have hanging off me is hearty meat and potatoes type of fat. . . but fortunately too I don't have a favorite food. . . but i LOVE to drink stuff. . . from water to juices, and anything in between. . . give me a glass of water and i'm happy, but i'll need more than 1. . . . so that is what made me fat . . .

Why am I HUNGRY!!!!
thinoneday replied to maria3371's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am planning on doing the babyfood thing as well. . . Gerber here I come!!! At 48 years old! That is funny. . . but the fruit and vegatables are too bad, i don't know about liver, beef and farina and chicken or turkey, ham, etc. . . my kids loved beef and farina and daughter loved liver. . . ewwwwwwww . . .guess I'll try it out too huh? 4 oz should be just right I think. . . Good luck to you all. . . -

Decided on LapBand surgery. New! Day 1.
thinoneday replied to calabresechic87's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
is there not a doctor in athens who would help you? is nashville far? yes, i would never get the gastric bypass, but the lapband seems more safer to me as well. . . good luck to you and maybe you can research the doctor on line. . . -
Decided on LapBand surgery. New! Day 1.
thinoneday replied to calabresechic87's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
this might be the dumbest question ever, but honey why in the world would you gain 10 pounds? just to get lapbanded? why not just try dieting if your not even big enough to qualify? you've probably tried everything in the world and feel like you've failed, but why not follow the lap band diet without the band like someone else on the site did? But to gain 10 lbs just to have surgery doesn't make sense to me. . . -
Do bands suddently get tighter out of nowhere?
thinoneday replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sue Magoo, no it wasn't too graphic, I'm a registered nurse and have seen things that no man has seen before. . and let me tell you this was not graphic at all. . . but it does sound gross . . . so it's sorta like when you have sinus problems and have to hork it up and spit, thick and nasty. . . ah no problem . . . aren't we fun! -
I was stupid...so now I need your help
thinoneday replied to amylovescookies's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Amy, I've not been banded yet, but what I think could have happened might be that when you grabbed a hold of the kitchen counter from the pain and tensed up you may have pulled the trapezes muscle on the left shoulder blade. . . I've had that pain for ever in a day, but i know it's a muscle pain from my work outs . . . hopefully that is all that it is, see if ibuprofen helps with that pain or lidocaine patches. . . I have found those things help along with icy blue and a good massage. . . -
It is usually policitics and religion that breaks families and friends apart. . .lets not let this happen to our little site. . . it isn't worth it

Decided on LapBand surgery. New! Day 1.
thinoneday replied to calabresechic87's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Sam! I am on the same journey you are on. . .I'm only at the research and go to the seminar part. . .I'm afraid, but with this site you'll find alot of nice people who can share stories and their feelings too. You'll find your not the only one with the problem . . . everyone has the same or basically the same issues. . . i have my seminar on the 23rd of this month. . . i'm self pay and have been approved by the bank for the full amount with a payoff of only 3% . . i haven't signed for it yet. . . i've 90 days to do that. . . so after the seminar we'll see but like you this seems to be my only chance. I'm 48 years old and don't want to die a big fat woman with 10 pall bearers, the usual 6 will be nice. . . maybe we can continue to share stories and successes -
So what do we call ourselves when we reach the 200's?

Do bands suddently get tighter out of nowhere?
thinoneday replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
ok, I'm new to this thing and just found out what pbing is. . along comes another word "sliming" what the heck is that? it really sounds gross. . reminds me of holding onto a snake behind it's head as it twirls itself around my arm and in fear it slimes me! ewwwwwww that is really nasty! So please fill me in on this???? thanks -

How do you get rid of BELLY FAT?!?!?! HELP!!!
thinoneday replied to marthie66's topic in Fitness & Exercise
LMAO! This thread is soooooooooo funny so far, I can just see me in a girdle! I live in very hot and humid San Antonio TX can you just see me squeezing into girdle then sweating to death. . . "Woman dies of heat exposure to girdle" hehehehe -
What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!
thinoneday replied to auntlucy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My gosh yes Carrie! You are so right. I really hate that, but for me being the type of person I am, I let them know with honesty and sincerity. When I lost weight before, I looked pretty ok, there was this person (male) who never even gave me the time of day (I worked with him) I would ask a question and he'd look at me as if I was stupid. . . after I lost weight with the phentermine (100 lbs) it was " hey Erykah how are you, you sure look good. . . I just stood up and said to him " You never once spoke to me or acknowledged me when i was fat, do you really expect me to talk to you or even give you the time of day now? Please remove yourself from my view" Of course I was called a B . . ch but considering the source I took it as a compliment. . . I was very cool about it and he was let go for using bad language. . . but yes, I agree with you about that being the most rudest ever!! -
"May the Lord bless you and keep you, may he shine his face upon you" May you take comfort in these words as we are faced with this day. . . Thank you for all you do and have done! Thank you!

8 years ago today, we all witnessed a tragedy. A tragedy that will remain with us forever. . for some of us it was more than a tragedy, it was a day where someone lost a brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, mother, father, best friend or just friend. I just want to express my deepest sympathies and condolescenses to anyone who lost someone or was touched by that day. We all lost a piece of something that day, every one of us. . . lest we forgot. . .

Getting ready to make the change for the thinner!
thinoneday replied to mike30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mike, I'm doing the research thingy too, I am basically the same as you 6'0 tall and 330 lbs. I'm getting this thing done come hell or high water. . . I am self pay so it should go fast once I start. . . my seminar is the 23rd and we'll take it from there. . . It's funny though, I'm quite physically fit for "metabolically challenged" person. . I go to the gym everyday, walk 2 miles at 3.2mph at a 2 incline, then ride the bike for 5 miles at level 9 doing random hills. . my h/r is 60 resting and my cholestrol levels is 195. . . so not to shabby, hopefully this will help with the band as well. . . anyhow good luck to you on getting this done, I'm sure you'll do well. . . -
Hello! I was just banded TODAY
thinoneday replied to _Kimo_'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Kimo, the sore throat is from being intubated. . drink liquids (do I need to say that again??? hehehe) and it should go away within 3-5 days. . . Good luck and best wishes with your band! -
Congratulations! You sure sound excited! Sort of like winning the lottery only better. . . you'll actually get results with this one !
