How neat is that! That must have made your day! I will love the day that I can actually fit into some of my smaller clothes, especially my smaller uniforms, I used to wear a L (now 3X) so to be able to get back into L's will just be the biggest NSV for me!:001_rolleyes:

Fortunately I had a hysterectomy when I was 33 years old and have never had to worry about another period again. . . however, and always a however, I still do get PMS days. . . not as bad as yours though. . . that sounds horrible. . . i'm sorry your suffering like that!

thinoneday replied to Thinn Again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Thinn! Looks like we're really motivated by our screen names huh? Welcome and good luck too you! This is a great sight and everyone is so nice and has great advice. . .I've learned a lot from most of the folks here. . . -

I might be sleeved on Dec 29th! Went for my inital Doc visit on Friday (20th) along with psych, and nutritionist. . . he says I'm an ideal candidate and if the clearances come back he'll do it. . . I was so happy. . . he even told me that I did not need to do a pre-op diet, but I told I would like too. . . he looked at me as if i was weird. . when he asked me why, I thought about ya'll and some who had the problems and told him that it would be for the best, easier for him and better for me. . . he grinned a big grin (very cute smile!) and told me ok and that I would be successful! Wow, guys he made my day. . . now lets see if the psych thinks the same way?????

thinoneday replied to heftynetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry to hear of your complications. .what a terrible time you are having. . I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope you get feeling better soon. . . being sick is so frustrating, you want to help and do things but you can't. . just be patient (6 months of patience is a long time)it'll get better eventually. . . I really can't say I know how you feel, cause I don't. . .so again, I'm so sorry. . . -

Anything could be possible, but if I were you, I would go to the doctor to get yourself checked out. . . how do you feel now? Nauseated? if your feeling really nauseated it could have been blood, have you vomited again? Please go to the doctor. . . sorry I can't help much. . .
-
Thank you ML. . . I agree! So I told hubbie not to get me anything expensive, just perfume or body wash or something because this would be my gift. . . of course he balked at that idea!
-
Guess what guys! I went to have my initial doctor visit, psych eval, and nutritionist visit today and because I'm self pay, I may have a surgery date of December 29th!!!!!! Dr. said he would do it for me if the clearances came through without a problem. . . he said because i'm self pay he could get me in earlier . . . so keep your fingers crossed for the 29th! I'm so happy!!!! Watch I'll get all freaky when December comes around!

Will my headache ever go away?!
thinoneday replied to annak4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This might be dumb, but go to the eye doctor and ask him to check you for pseudotumor cerebri. . . it's a condition where the fluids from the cerebral fluids collect behind the eyes and cause incredible headaches. . . if that is what it may be, you'll be asked to do visual fields to see if there is damage, if so then you'll go to a neurologist who will evaluate you and set you to a neurosurgeon for a possible shunt placement. . . . I went through this and until I had my surgery and shunt placement i had very bad headaches. . . so try the eye doctor and get him to check. . . . hope this helps -
I had my visit today with the doctor, psych, and nutritionist, I requested that once I get the surgery done that a psychotherapist be assigned to me because I may not be able to "handle" the new me. . . she told me that amazing enough quite a few people need counseling for this exact thing. . . she was very nice and reminded me of you. . .

:eek:I was laying in bed last night thinking about the sleeve and how successful it has been for most of you. . . I was especially thinking about this. . . since you can only eat a few morsels here and there equalling to about 800 calories per day, what happens when you reach goal? I noticed one person is 20 lbs under her goal. . . does weight loss keep going? Do we get into trouble with being too thin? how do we stop it? Wow. . . this might be a good doctor question. . . has anyone experienced this potential problem? Is anyone actually battling thinness? Ok call it what it is anorexia? Right now it seems like a dream come true to be like really skinny. . . .but really think about it????

Thank you Norma for all your kind words and inspiration to us. . . of course here comes an However, and I hope as a therapist, you do not take offense to this. . . but I am a morbidly obese woman at 6'0 tall and anywhere from 340 - 360 lbs give or take a pound or two. . . I have never had those issue you discuss above in your post. . .I walk proud, talk proud and am proud of who I am. . . I have never hung my head in shame because of obesity. . .I guess you can say I've "adjusted to it" I've been obese all of my teen and adult life. . .yes there have been insults hurled my way, but my attitude toward that is "just consider where it's coming from and it makes me feel so much better" Why then am I getting the sleeve right? Well it's basically because of health issues now. . . as I've gotten older, my knees and back hurt a lot, I've gotten into sleep apnea, cardiac arrythmias. . . sooooo it was time I think. . . my daughter, 20, is obese 5'7 and 200 lbs but she too carries it well and has such a great outlook on life, she dresses herself stylishly and loves to shop at Torrid (for overweight young people sorta like Lane Bryant - my store) she has learned, from me, that those who can't accept how she is, have a fear or insecurity of their own and need to project that fear and insecurity towards others, be it the obese, handicap, or elderly. . .she too holds her head high and loves life. . . we do talk about healthy eating in moderation and exercise and she does go to the gym and such. . . now I'll get off my soap box and shut up cause I could go on and on about this (smile). . . thank you for listening!

I'm so happy for you! Keep us posted and keep positive!

Yes, San Antonio is a beautiful city and the temp is perfect year round. . . I'm originally from winnipeg, have lived here in SA for the past 15 years though. . . would never go back, too cold for my artherititis. . . glad you enjoyed your time here. . .

Families mean well, but they go about it all wrong. . . I guess it's because they can say whatever and even though it hurts us, they know we'll forgive them. . . they are our family after all. . . I'm glad you decided to join us. . . I'm not sleeved yet either, but am seeing my doctor, nutritionist, and shrink tomorrow, I'm going to propose a date of either Dec 28 or 29 and if not then January it will be. . . .being scared is normal. Like I've mention to the forum many times this will be my 18th major surgery and I'm still here, and I'm still nervous about it too. . . but we go on, live our lives and with this at least we'll be happy right! Good luck and we're here for whenever you need us. . .

I love spaghetti squash. . . but then I love everything except tamales and lamb and beef, and chocolate and cake and . . . .

my hubbie is my garbage disposal, skinny as he is, so if I can't finish something, I can always give it to him . . . going out will be my greatest challenge because first off hubbie loves the buffets, that won't be possible once i'm sleeved cause I can't see me spending $10 on only a small thingy of soup! I guess I'm way to frugal. . .
