My two cents worth now too. . . I'm originally from Canada, and while I lived there, I found the health care excellant. . .you could go to the doctor whenever, the only problem was it took forever to get any results. . . but other then that it was ok. . . then we moved to the US and here too the health care is excellant, yes we pay for it, and get our tests and results really fast and I was found to have had a problem that went undiagnosed in Canada. . . even when i brought it to the attention of many different specialists including neurologists, they didn't believe me, one actually told me to check out psychiatrist. . but still that was then. . I went to the US doctors with the same problem, they diagnosed me and told me if i don't get the problem fixed soon, I would have had a brain hemmorragh and died. . . I was diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri with a spinal fluid pressure of 47mmhg when the normal should be 12mmhg. . . I had emergency surgery for shunt placement to help drain the fluid. . . so I'm so grateful for US medicine, they saved my life. . . however, I can compare the two countries and prefer the US, but if I didn't know anything else, I wouldn't know any better. . . every country thinks their care is best. . . I know both and if asked to chose would have to chose the US healthcare. . . but that is only me. . . . thanks for listening. . .

When I was on Phentermine for over 1 year, it damaged a bit of my heart. . now with each EKG it show and inverted T wave which shows that there has been mild myocardial infarction. . . I just mention this to the physician and he is ok with that. .

I need some advice because I am SCARED TO DEATH!!!
thinoneday replied to Behemoth845's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bless your heart. . .I understand your worries. . .i don't know if this will help any but this will be my 18th major surgery. . . lots of my doctors ask jokingly, "so what do you have left?" hehehe. . . i'm having my surgery on the 29th of this month. . . I'm scared like everyone else, those feelings are very normal. . . your concerns are very normal. . but this is really something that you'll need to work out with yourself. . . you've tried dieting and you definately work out, and your still a big guy. . . are you tall? I'm 6' tall and weight 330, I work out and look half decent, but am getting alot of weight related health issues. . . I don't want to die from those complications, I'd rather be smaller and be healthier. . . I can more about my health then my looks. . . like many other people I run the risk of loose flabby unattractive skin hanging around, possible increase in wrinkles, which will reveal my age :scared0: but you know what, it's the pain that I want that should go away, I want to be able to sit in a garden tub and enjoy the bath instead of thinking Good Lord, how am I going to get out?? I want to be able to do many things without pain. . . I don't care about the looks at this point in my life, I have a very loving husband who just wants me to get rid of the pain. . . so which is more important to you, your looks, or your health? The decision is a hard one to make but only you can make it. . . -

Slipped Band...What to do now? (bit long)
thinoneday replied to pattimomof3nj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry to hear about your son, how old is he? Regardless, it's always hard to hear when a loved one gets cancer. . .it's so hard. . .I was considering the band for a long time, but hubbie would not hear of it. . . so finally i convinced him to come to a seminar and it was him who told me that he would support me 100% only if i got the sleeve and NOT the band. . . so the sleeve it is. . . I go for my surgery on dec. 29th. Good luck with your personal decision. . . Merry Christmas and the best of the New Year! -
Anyone else having their surgery on Dec 29th?
