Challenge: 1st Day of Summer Weigh-In
PrincipalsOffice replied to Ima Loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery: 12/4/12 271 lbs Current: 3/25/13 241 lbs Goal: 6/1/13 221 lbs I am so frustrated.... I stall for about 3-4 weeks, then lose a pound a day for about 3 days, then stall again. I don't get it. But trying to hang in there. -

lap band to sleeve?
PrincipalsOffice replied to Rycherchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lapband in 11/09 and had it deflated in 3/12 then removed in 8/12 due to over a year of complications that resulted in nightly vomiting and finally a slippage. I was successful - lost 90 pounds - but at a huge cost to my health given the complications. When I had it removed (which was actually SUPPOSED to be a replacement but the scar tissue and swelling was so severe once they got in that they had to take it all out), the doctor told me that the LB is no longer seen as a long term surgery, because there are so many complications occurring nowadays. In 12/12, I had VSG. Weight loss has been super slow, which my dr attributes in part to having the LB previously, but it is coming off. Having experienced both, even without the LB complications, I would have done VSG instead because of the pain and "stuck" feeling I got from normal foods - baked chicken, broccoli, spinach, etc - which I eat without concern with the VSG. Of course, everyone's story is different, and some people have the band successfully for life.... but that was my experience and many others I have found since being on VSG Talk. -

Richmond Virginia Sleevers Around?
PrincipalsOffice replied to GeekyGamerGrrl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also in the Fredericksburg area! I started in 2009 with Dr. B in Richmond for the band, but switched to Bluepoint midway through as they were opening a stafford location soon. Had lapband, yada yada, had lapband removed. Sleeve with Bluepoint 12/4/12. -

Another revision question
PrincipalsOffice replied to Dee-Texas's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I stayed two nights and much like the others, was able to walk several hours after surgery. I only walked a few minutes at a time, about every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. It did help with gas and pain some. My band insertion surgery seemed more painful... as I recall the port killed me for at least a week. -

Early Stall?
PrincipalsOffice replied to dollbaby1969's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Slow losers unite! I was banded Dec 4. Lost about 14 pounds first 10 days. in the past 6 weeks... only 10 more. i bounce up and down all week long. Heck, all month long. Up a pound, down .6, up .2, down a pound. And so on. Stall? Maybe. but the net effect is I'm losing. I have tried several different things - up calories, down calories, up cardio, down weights, up Water, up Protein, just about every combination out there. There is no rhyme or reason to my fat butt. I just had to tell myself this morning as I was adding up last month's loses that even if I lose "only 6 pounds a month", I will still be down 80 pounds at the one year mark. I'll take it! -

Great Nutrition Guide I found Online for sleevers
PrincipalsOffice replied to LaserSkinGirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
Thank for sharing! -
I have added Protein bars back in, as most drinks make me GAG. I use Power Bar "Protein Plus Reduced Sugar chocolate Peanut Butter". It's 270 calories for 22 grams of protein, which is a bit high (calories) but I cut it in thirds and throw a baggie full in the freezer. Sometimes I grab one for my evening snack if I'm low on protein (and craving something a little 'sweet'); sometimes I blend one up in a shake to cover up the other "protein" taste...

Teachers? Administrators? Virginia?
PrincipalsOffice posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a 30-something with 100 pounds to lose. I'm a former teacher and school counselor and currently am a school principal. I was sleeved 12/4/12 after 3 years of complications with the Band. Looking for other school personnel (anywhere in the US) or anyone in Virginia to buddy up with!- 1 reply

What Did You Eat At 4 Weeks?
PrincipalsOffice replied to soccermom1's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The ricotta cheese recipe above is delish and very soft so can be eaten on mushies/softs. If you don't know Eggface's blog (where the ricotta recipe is famous ) check it out. She has a lot of great recipes, advice, etc. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ -
