    Mental Breakdown!

Even though you aren't a therapist... you are right on! You may very well go through the grieving process as well as strong emotional swings throughout the process. Consider what you (we) are doing - We've been so dependent on food that we have almost no other option than to have a surgical device implanted in our bodies. So for years, we have had NO CONTROL. And finally we make this drastic step to do something. To be IN CONTROL. And it's pretty damn scary because we STILL might fail. And although its "reversible", for the most part it's a lifetime commitment. And all we can think of is "What in the heck have I just done??" And all the self doubt we've had for years comes crashing back onto us. It's pretty overwhelming. Look for support in your friends and family and don't worry about those that will have snarky comments, etc. Remember, you did this for YOU. Not for THEM.

    Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

Just FYI about the pee  It sounds similar to when I had my c-section. Something about messing with your belly muscles makes it wierd to use them to "push" ya know?... It took a couple days before I was "normal" again. Just a thought!

    Never Again...

So many never agains... - i work in a school, so never again will i squeeze my fat ass into one of those freaking desk, with my "extra boobs" piling over the top - never again will i be embarrassed about what's in my grocery cart and paranoid that everyone is judging my choices.... - never again will i have to go to the "left" (or right) of the door at the clothing store to get to the plus size half - never again will i be "such a pretty face"... knowing they are thinking .... but so fat - never again will i wear capris all summer in 100 degree weather because i wouldnt dare put on shorts - never again will my son suffer at MY weight. just yesterday I called to set up swim lessons and had to make sure it wasn't a "mommy and me" class first, because if it was, i wasn't doing it. how sad for my son :scared2: - never again will i be ashamed to do ANYTHING because someone might say something rude in front of a new boyfriend, etc and just make me want to DIE (there are some RUDE freaking people in this world)! - never again will i have to stalk the tables and booths in a restaurant to 1. make sure ill fit at the booth and 2. make sure i can find a semi-direct path that doesnt require my belly and butt rubbing someone else's chair - or worse, having to ask them to "scoot" - never again will i stand all day at a BBQ because I am scared of chairs - listen to that SCARED OF CHAIRS! how pathetic! because i wont fit, they might break, the arms will dig in and my fat will squeeze out, etc - never again will i have to skip the cute shoes because they dont come in "WIDE" - never again will i be ashamed to go to the food table at a party or cookout or whatever because im too ashamed of what people think when they see me up there eating - never again will i be the "fat mom" at my son's activities gosh, i could go on.... and on.... and on.....
  15. Although this is not the surgeon I am using (he doesnt have his info available online), it is a great resource for post op diet, etc. Lapband info starts on pg. 83 of the pdf (pg 72 of the manual) http://www.permanente.net/homepage/kaiser/pdf/39806.pdf

My sis and I went to 3 concerts this past year and we got to be up at the stage at the second one and touched them and all that good stuff - haha! :) i see today is your surgery date, best of luck - hang tough - hahahahahahaah

  21. Hi everyone! My name is Mary and I am going to be banded on Nov 18. I am 32 and live in Virginia. I have an amazing 3 year old son and am in the middle of a not so fun divorce for the past 2 years... and 50ish pounds. UGG! I am sooo excited to have this done, but also getting very nervous/anxious! I have 5 drs visits between now and then with nutritionists, testing, all that fun pre-op stuff and start my Optifast on Nov 9. I am currently within 5 pounds of my highest weight ever - around 292. YUCKO! It's nice to "meet" you all and I agree with Neener that we are all about to become great friends! :cursing: Best of luck to all!
