  1. Wrong Forum Sandra. You need to ask these questions in the Pre-Lap Band Forum or General Lap Band Forum.
  2. Any other helpful hints out there from people who have a lot of experience and knowledge about preparing wisely ??

    Admitted To Hospital

I would REALLY like to know what she senses that caused the band to slip below her stomach. I know none of us are perfect (even the doctors) but if she sensed she wasn't as careful (in some situations with the band), I would LOVE to know that information so we can all be proactive to watch out for it. P.S. It could have been a band that was placed/sutured improperly by the doctor also also...

    Admitted To Hospital

"What is the JP" you mentioned above: Junior Physician ? P.S. Why do you think it slipped? Can you think back of perhaps anything caused the slip? I'm curious...because if you think something caused the slip....I want to make sure to watch out for it. I'm getting banded in 30 days from today ! Thoughts?
  5. Can you direct me to these please? I'm sorry...I've research before I've posts but its hard to find these exact posts you are referring to. Thanks, MD

Wow - Finally Got My Date - October 16Th

I still can't believe I'm going to Mexico to get this surgery. It's the IMAGERY OF THE THING....that is hard to overcome. I'm sure many of my family and friends think I'm nutso....but that is ok (lol). But I know where my head is at (used to run 15 miles a week and be extremely disciplined) but life just hit me....and stressed me out to a point where I've gained 90 lbs (originally 205 in 2005 and now weight 295). I'm 38 and not trending very well....AND I'M NOT PRIDEFUL TO ADMIT...that I need a tool to help reduce this weight. Let your mercy, wisdome, courage and grace cover and guide me Lord
  7. Having surgery next month on Tuesday October 16th with Dr. Kuri. Kind of scary to be honest ....but I've researched him and the facility enough to know everything is top notch. My brother lost over 270lbs with the lapband and I"ve researched this forum for 2 years...so I feel at ease with this decision.
  8. It's not a HUGE deal...but I've noticed Dr. Kuri (an experienced surgeon in Tijuana) is now banding people and putting saline solution in during surgery. A guy I talked to here on the forum said that Dr. Kuri put 3CC's in his band at the time of surgery and he had no complaints. For me ....the thought of having 3CC's in my band (at the time of surgery) is refreshing because of the following reasons: 1) You don't have to go through Banster Hell (haha...no pain) 2) Since the surgery will be in Mexico....the closest doctor I found for a fill (and follow-up) is 4 hours away from where I live. 3) Saves me potentially $350-$500 from the first post op fills (including roundtrip money for gas) Needless, I LOVE the idea....but why are more and more doctors putting fills in at the time of surgery? Easier transition for the patient? Patient gets to avoid banster hell ? Thoughts?
  9. I wonder if Dr. Kuri uses the 4cc Lapband or if he uses a larger band? Hmmmm ... thanks for your input Jean !
  10. He uses the Lapband. I've talked to him regarding the Realize and he will not use it since he has so much success with the Lapband. Thanks for your imput Maddysgram !
  11. I hope I get my "head start" when my surgery date comes. Because my doctor is TJ and aftercare doctor is 4 hour drive away here in Illinois (and the cost of the first couple inititial fills)....seems to me.....(in a person in my scenario) its wise to get a "head start" and get a primer during surgery. HOWEVER, my doctor will know what is best....and will gladly yield to his recommendations.

    Dilated Pouch Or Band Slip

So are we not supposed to drink Bottled Water or water you can get from those 5 gallon water barrels that people have in their house? Didn't know we couldn't drink water from these.... Thoughts?

    Dilated Pouch Or Band Slip

Brock's Mom: If you don't mind me asking....do you think the slip was something you accidentally did or unknowingly did or a faulty band that the doctor put in? I'm curious how bands slip because (if it happens to someone), I will know how to advise them. Thanks Sis

    First Week Post-Op Major Pains

What did the Doctor do to fix it (if you don't mind me asking)?
  15. VERY informative post Jean. Many thanks for your contribution. Didn't know that fills (during surgery) has been going on for 4 years. To me (when I get my surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Kuri), I'm going to want him to give me a fill -- barring he thinks its beneficial ...which I wouldn't assume he wouldn't because he apparently has given them to his other patients. Thanks again for chiming in ! Blessings !

    First Week Post-Op Major Pains

So your issue was your esophagus all along? Interesting that your chest, jaw and head hurt when it was an esophagus. Thoughts? P.S. Glad your well on your way to health and wholeness. Blessings,
  17. Thanks for chiming in. All I know is I'm seeing more and more people getting surgeries with the fills in them. I'm sure...research and experienced lapband doctors are noticing it is MORE beneficial to give a fill while doing the surgery. Otherwise....they wouldn't be doing it. I would like to know though if there is any research indicating this as this could be a new trend emerging with this surgery.
  18. Wow....interesting feedback here everyone ! Anybody else care to chime in with your experience and experience?
  19. Please update us on your progress when you have time. I'm curious as to what it was. Blessings to you !

    Dr Kuri

I've done much research on him......AND THERE IS NO QUESTION....on the doctor I feel the most comfortable with.....in a life altering surgery such as this.

    Confused?!?

I'm just posting this for what it is worth. Be very careful of anyone promoting one doctor over the other. There is speculation that people could be paid to post negative reviews about any doctor. In terms of myself, I've decided to go with Dr. Kuri after much prayer and just a sense of "inner peace". When reviewing the other main doctor in Mexico....to me it was a very easy decision. Blessing all and please make sure to do your own research! Don't let anybody sway you on any doctor. You need to be swayed by your own research and by asking the tough questions to people that verifiably have no way to benefit by what they say or post. TRUST YES....BUT VERIFY ! Good luck !
  22. Through my research, i'm definately going with Dr. Kuri. My surgery is within 3 months from now. Look him up on Youtube as well. In talking with many people.....I love the fact that he has so much experience not to mention the level of compassion he has. P.S. On experience alone, I feel better that a Mexican Lapband Doctor does my surgery than an American Doctor. Do your own research though !

    Surgery Tomorrow!! What To Bring?

My prayers are with you.....Lord....we pray for Rojasanoll right now. Please give wisdom to the surgeons, a speedy recovery and we pray specifically for no complications in the short term....but also years down the road. We pray that his band will be a blessing....not only to himself...but Lord....let the influence of his new found weight loss be used to glorify Your Name....all the days of his life. In Christ's name we pray - Amen !
