Help: I Love To Work Out And Sweat (Need Advice) !!
marketingdude replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not doctor...but you are probably right. I just like to where extra clothing to sweat as it just makes me feel like a million bucks when I sweat. Plus...it heats up my body more...the more I sweat. Although it could help in assisting in [non water] weight loss....I do like to wear extra layers of clothing because it makes me feel like a million bucks when I sweat alot. In short, I feel it benefits my well being. I figure I can't hurt whether its real weight loss or water.... Hope that clarifies for you Wallflower, MD -

How can you actually make sure you are getting your minerals....when in the liquid phase? Please be specific on what you mean by minerals and the specific supplements that have these minerals..... I'm curious as I'm studying more and more about minerals....as they are much different than Vitamins. Thanks for your help, MD -
Help: I Love To Work Out And Sweat (Need Advice) !!
marketingdude replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It seems common sense....but it just hit me...I've had this huge routine of putting layers of clothing on so I can sweat and heat up my body temperature when working out. I was talking to my brother yesterday and he mentioned that you won't be able to drink tons of Water all at once like you are used to. He also mentioned about sucking on ice cubes.....which made me think....OMG.... I'm going to have to rethink how I work out in terms of hydration. Either...I may have to where lighter clothes....or lesson my work out so I don't sweat as much. -
Sounds like your body's response from not eating as much. Its not getting the fuel it used to....so its having a fit Its like when you eat too much....your body is tired and weak because your body is WORKING OVERTIME to digest the food. In this case....your body is WORKING OVERTIME to find energy to burn perhaps. Obviously, I'm not a doctor...just sharing

Ok...whats The Deal!!
marketingdude replied to Wisegirl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At a glance, I think they are both saying the same thing. Kami is just getting stuck on the word full/restriction or the feeling of "satiated" versus feeling of full....as the way we feel full before. Bottom line restriction makes you feel satiated (or a FORM of full feeling or a satitisfied feeling) which causes you to eat less. End of story ! -

To be honest...I didn't get that she was saying that in her post at all. -

Not trying to scare you (as this may not be the issue at all) but it is a possibility that there is a leak in your tube. Since your doctor didn't do the fill under florascopy (most likely anyway) there is a risk there is a leak there which is why you feel no difference. Again, I'm not saying this is it....but it is a possibility. Just rather you be informed either way. P.S. With all the trial and error that the Doctors due (to try to find your port during a fill) it seems common sense that the port tubing could get accidentally pricked in the process. Hence...causing people to lose their fill and no one would know until the next fill (because the fill wasn't done under florascopy). -
Getting Sick And Having Lapband
marketingdude replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I actually would like to know this also. In fact...if one were to get the flu (and you have to throw-up) doesn't this affect the band in someway? Using common sense....it would because your regurgitating the food that you threw up through that small pouch (and that can't be good). It raises another question: Could the flu have caused many band patient problems in the past....and sadly....the bandsters may not have known that their current band problems were related to the bad flu they got 6 months ago. Likely ? No ....Probable? Yes P.S. I know likely this would never happen...but I do think it is important for Bansters to prepare for the "what-if" scenarios just in case they do eventually get the flu. Statistically....all of us will get the flu one way or the other. Just all a matter of time. Personally, I would like to know how to navigate these waters if/when I get the flu in the future. Thoughts/Opinions? -
Tonight I Wish I Didn't Have The Band
marketingdude replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is where I disagree just a little bit. Although I agree on accountability and the band is only a tool.....indirectly the band helps you eat less because you feel full and satiated on a small amount of food. You work WITH the band...and the band helps you eat less. I think we are on the same page...but I agree with you...if you error on any side...personally ...I error on the side of personal accountability in terms of making yourself eat a small portion of food. -
The Lord said...ask for wisdom so I've asked Him in prayer....and I believe He will answer. And He could answer through the wise advice on this forum. Please don't throw stones at me with my concern but here is my dilema. I'm looking to get my surgery with Dr. Ortiz or Dr. Kuri (done my research). My wife is originally from the Philippines (only been in the US for about 2 years now), about 90 lbs, very pretty and very "non aware" type of personality when it comes to potential danger and suspicious people. Because I love her so much, I don't want to go to another country (i.e. Tijiuana which is known for crime), and put her at risk because of my surgery. If something were to happen to my precious jewel (while I"m recovering for 1-2 days still in Mexico)....I don't know if I could live with myself....my job as a man is to protect her... Although I know they pick you up at the airport, and you will be in the hospital the whole time. But what if some employee (who had ties to some local gang) tipped off some people and took her to be in the sex slave industry or who know what God aweful reason. I know this may sound crazy......but I keep on remembering my wise great-grandfather once said...."always be prepared for the what ifs" . (all for a surgery that I wanted/needed because I've gain 80lbs in 6 years due to stress (e.g. from 207-287). Again...I realize you can't prepare for everything....and you can't be afraid to go outside of your house because LIGHTENING DOES STRIKE SOMETHING....but the fact still remains...I'm putting her at risk. If my wife was an A Type personality, not fragile in built, wasn't so pretty (and innocently a little nieve), I wouldn't be as concerned as I am. I love her so much...and couldn't bare anything to happen to her (I'm even getting a little teary eyed as I type this). Moving forward, I know my options is that I could have someone come with us to Tijuiana but this is not an option for many reasons. The only other option is to play it safe and have the surgery here for twice as much. Any thoughts or opinions? Again...please understand my sincere concern. I want to be wise in the finances the good Lord has given us and get out of debt as soon as possible given what the world economy is going through. Saving $5,000 is alot of money.....but I don't think I could live with myself if something happen to my precisious flower. Maybe...after typing this...my decision is becoming more clear. Many thanks for your sincere imputs !

Concerned About Getting My Surgery In Tijiuana Because My Wife Is Pretty, Innocently Nieve & I'm Afraid For Her Safety - Am I Nuts ???
marketingdude replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You guys are funny....actually...I'm at much more peace with my decision now. Its the male protector nature in me that got me a little antsy about the both of us going down there. My father will be coming with us....so I'm not as concerned. I just love my wife...and I"m always preparing for the "what if" scenario. God forbid if something were to happen to me...would have been all alone there....not to mention what would she going to say to my family and how would she coordinate the details to them ...God forbid something were to happen. Moving forward, ...God is my Protector...and My Provider...so whom shall I fear right? I'm at peace with my decision now.....and her protection. MANY THANKS in advance for allowing me to share my concern.....I'm sure many read this and was like.....OH MY GOD...I CAN'T BELIEVE HE IS WORRIED ABOUT THIS..... .....but never judge a man unless you walked in his shoes....lol... -
Senior Bandsters: Anything You Would Have Done Differently Prior To Your Surgery Date ?
marketingdude posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my surgery date scheduled (in Mexico with Dr. Kuri) on October 17, and I'm trying to prepare as wisely as I can before the surgery and never was the one who liked to learn the hard way. So my question is as follows: Was there anything that you did or wish you did (prior to surgery) that would have been a huge prior to surgery? Perhaps you have heard a wise tip from a friend or someone here on this board !!! Thoughts? Again...I want to prepare as wisely as I can Many thanks in advance Bandsters ....blessings to you !! -

Thanks for the tip. I've already got the premium heating pad at Walmart which costs $29.95 which isn't bad at all. Since then I've purchased Gas X Strips and Papaya enzymes to help with digestion should I gut stuck early on. -
Not sure what it is...but I went to the ER myself 3 months ago and turns out I had gallstones. Rather then remove an organ the good Lord gave me, I had a sonogram that showed my stones. I had 2 options: get it removed or try a natural remedy. I opted for the natural remedy and WAS COMPLETELY FLOORED WITH THE RESULTS !!! You start off with Apple juice during the day (eating nothing) and then drink 8 oz of pure lemon juice and 8 oz of pure olive oil 4 hours before going to bed. 1oz every 15 minutes before going to bed. In short, the next morning, you will despense many little green gallstones. If I didn't trust my 2 health nut friends...I wouldn't believe it myself. Just Google Gallbladder Cleanse with lemon juice and olive oil...you will find plenty of information. That all said...do your research, go to the doctor on the safe side for diagnosis first.

I Might Be The Only 1 Who Feels This Way
marketingdude replied to ChristinaAshley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you don't mind me asking, how much weight have you lost in 6 months? Don't worry...the amount you lost won't define you as a success or failure with the band. Sounds you are just learning how to be successful with the band...and that takes time Blessings sis !!! -
I Might Be The Only 1 Who Feels This Way
marketingdude replied to ChristinaAshley's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really liked your response as you can tell you have the mental side of the band (for the most part anyway) worked out. Its hard because very few people understand the "mental side" of living with the band. Would love to pick your brain for about 2 hours...on what you have learned....so I don't have to learn the hard way. P.S. My surgery is in 29 days....OHH KNOW -
More Of A Risky Surgery: Gall Bladder Removal Or Lapband ???
marketingdude replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thats the biggest area of concern for me with this surgery. It's the "hook like instrument that they uses to "suture" the band in place. As you say...its AWFUL CLOSE TO THE LIVER. Thoughts? -
More Of A Risky Surgery: Gall Bladder Removal Or Lapband ???
marketingdude posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thought this was an interesting question as my sister just had her gallbladder removed yesterday and I'm getting my surgery in 29 days and counting. At a glance superficially, most would think that lapband is more of a risky surgery (and it may as well be) but it may not be also. Any knowledgeable people out there that could shed some light on the topic? Maybe this could shed some light on how less risky this surgery actually is. After all, if the surgical risk is just as much as a gall bladder removal, it could subside the fears of many who are making this decision. Thoughts/Opinions? -
More Of A Risky Surgery: Gall Bladder Removal Or Lapband ???
marketingdude replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow...very interesting conversation so far. I wouldn't think that the risk of surgery would be about the same. Again, I know none of us our doctors but we can all share are opinion and experiences. I'm encouraged by the similarities of recovery experiences by people who had both surgeries. Found this article below that says the mortality rate was 1 in 200 for gallbladder surgery: http://www.ed.ac.uk/news/all-news/gallbladder-280612 This article suggests an mortality rate of 1 in 50 rate (2%) to 1 in 250 rate (.7%) : http://www.livestrong.com/article/136836-what-are-complications-from-gallbladder-surgery/ At a glance...and trying to use some common sense...although I'm encourage that the mortality rate seems alot more with gallbladder surgery....it makes me question the 1 in 2000 mortality rate for lapband. That said...I can't wait till surgery in 29 days -

Thanks for an elaborate response as you seem very at peace with your decision. Congrats ! I did have a quick question for you below: You mentioned in a previous post that the band slipped to the bottom of your stomach: My question is...how could you be ""obstructed" if the band slipped to the bottom of your stomach? Sorry for the detailed question....I just want to know everything I can about this surgery "and potentially" what could happen down the road. My brother had the surgery and went from 429lbs to 150lbs....so I'm at peace to know his anatomy responded well to the band. Blessings Nightart6 and Congrats Again !!! -
