  1. Any other thoughts out there? Would love to hear your experiences and thoughts/
  2. I concur with Cocobean....your knowledge and experience with the band is invaluable for those who are looking to make a decision with the band. Thank you for taking the time to share your history and experience. Blessings to you going forward in your weightloss journey. Warmest regard, MD
  3. In your opinion....what caused your issues with the band? Anything you did in your opinion.....or your body didn't adjust to the band. Blessings,
  4. Bansters: I know most (if they struggle with this) will quickly realize that they can't eat fast at all do to the band in place. Furthermore, I know many are forced to eat very slow because of the band iin them. However, I'm wonder if many forget that they have the band ....and "woof down" food like they did before surgery. I'm sensing that some old mindsets and behaviors still do exist post surgery. I"m always on the "go" and this is one thing I'm wondering if I may have a problem with. Any thoughts or opinions on this? Thanks Bansters !
  5. I'm very surprised at everyones comments. I would have thought (because of how the band always reminds us to eat slower) that so many still struggle with eating too fast. Interesting observation.....at least I'm glad I know what potential patterns I may struggle with before I get this sucker in me...haha. Because I'm always on the go and very task oriented type of person...I tend to woof down food quick to get to the next task (haha). Got to learn to slow down a tad bit.
  6. Bandsters: Many thanks for chiming in. I know my question is strange because most people (who get the lapband) you wouldn't consider them an excertise guru. But I love working out...alot actually! If I had my way....I would be there 3 hours a day. Used to lift alot of weights...but I mostly concentrate on cardio for the last 4 years. Maybe...that has contributed to my weight gain from 2005 - 2012 (212lbs to 290lbs currently)...outside of moving from a warm weather climate to cold and alot more stressed out (eating more comfort foods, and noticed I have drank in moderation more than before)".. Regardless, I"m curious as how my body will respond with the band....while I maintain my regular work out schedule. I absolutely love working out, so I'm trying to anticipate how my body will respond with little food and lots of excercise. Anybody else fit this category as maybe the could shed some light on this? P.S. I know its a tough question (as every person's body is different) but I'm sure other bandsters fit this category and wanted to pick their brain as to how their body responded. Or...maybe you know someone who fits this category....and you observed how they responded. Any "general trends/observations" that you noticed would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Bandsters...YOU ROCK ! Thoughts/Opinions?
  7. Congrats Jackie...I'm curious...how was your surgery experience and the last 10 days post op. Many thanks for your contribution to the thread !!!
  8. Bandsters: I read this from a doctor's instructions on a Pre-Op Diet on the internet. Specifically, regarding the liver. What scares me about what it says is how fragile the liver is and how it can easily bleed. If that wasn't enough...during surgery...its "held by surgical instruments" (read below). I'm not sure about you....but the thought of my liver being held by surgical instruments....is kind of scary ! How come the average bandster doesn't know this about how fragile the liver and how it bleeds very easily (and during surgery) it is held by surgical instruments. I'm getting a little antsy as my surgery is 2 months away ! Thoughts/Opinions?
  9. I actually felt better after the video..... seems like liver is out of place the entire time after surgery.
  10. Here is a good video that I found on YouTube...that actually highlights the liver while doing the surgery. It litterally covers the stomach. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-K7ZdFW4sc
  11. Many thanks for the tip ! Anybody experience anything else similar?
  12. Interesting about your water intake. I'm going to have to keep that in mind.
  13. Thanks for sharing Vanilla....anybody else have a similar experience or have you worked out alot after you got the band. If so....how did your body respond?
  14. Wow...I wish I can do the same thing...except my brother has the lapband.....and everyone will know that I go it to. I've already told my parents and will tell my the rest of my brothers and sisters about a week or 2 after.
  15. Haha.....too funny !!! Don't mean to laugh but was just getting the visual !
  16. That is insane.....was it easy to stay at 1000 calories after being banded and still maintaining that 5 days a week workout? I'm curious as to how your hunger was after being banded and working out for that long. Thanks for responding ! Blessings !
  17. Bandsters: Was curious....after you get the surgery...we all know you can't eat as much (especially not as many carbs such as bread and pasta) which brings me to this question: 1) After having the surgery, do you go through "carb withdrawls" and is hard for you to adjust not eating as many carbs? I've heard people saying "head hunger" alot but (to me anyway) this is just a case of "missing taste" and that can be easily be solved by a nice Soup or something with a little salt. However, not having as many carbs...this is a whole nother question. Being that I've had carb withdrawls in the past before....I'm wondering what its going to be like after surgery? Thoughts/Opinions? Thanks Bandsters !
  18. Thats interesting you say this...because most of the time (after I work out) I have this INSANE HIGH (big stress reliever) and I think I'm invisable and can eat (or drink) anything and its not a big deal. Again...nothing too extreme [in terms of consuption] in either case....but you get the point. The problem is....is I work out late at night because of my wife's schedule.....so I got this insane high from working out...and I tend to eat later at night. So it sounds like....you had the same mentality I do now [in terms of feeling invicable) after working out. Why do you think you don't feel hungry after working out? Do you eat before working out? Maybe that has helped you .... Thoughts?

    Acid Reflux Is Killing Me

Not saying this is what is related but my wife and figured out why we were having headaches just recently. We have a humidifyer in the room, AC going and a fan going.....none of this gave us headaches before.....so we drank tons of Water....and still MAJOR HEADACHES.... You know what the problem was? It was mold build up for use over a long period of time.....since it was constantly blowing....apparently some of this "mold" was blowing around the room. We didn't even recognize the mold until we started looking closer at our room. Sure enough....we clean the mold off the fan...no more headaches.

    Acid Reflux Is Killing Me

So what is your long terms prognosis from your doctors. Seems the unfill is the short-term solution and not the long term solution you are looking for. Thoughts?
  21. Are you sure you not putting garlic in your foods

    Just An Update

Hey...is that Jack Daniels in that 2nd picture on the table? Ha...just giving you a hard time JennyBee like older brother wood. Seriously, congrats on your success as this is just the beginning. It's cute to see the success your having and taking us along with you in your journey. I'm having my surgery in 2 months. Blessings!
  24. Thanks for the forward. Will check it out. In terms of caffeine, I've been drinking a pot of coffee a day for almost 20 years. I know its not good (so don't stone me for this) but never had any experience in terms of reflux or anything like that. Now that I'm married....my wife makes me coffee everyday that is not as strong and notice I drink alot less coffee now. Anyway, I'll check those links out. Success to you !
  25. Really.....is this true? First I've heard of this claim of an increase rate of having ulcers ??? Something doesn't seem right about this....but in terms of caffeine....my caffeine comes from coffee....like the other poster said....caffeine in moderation I'm sure is fine.. ..... Thoughts?
