  1. Hi there! Saw your post and thought I'd let you know you're not alone! I was banded 9/22/09 and have lost a total of 33 lbs. (11 lbs. post op) The first week I lost 8 lbs. and in the last three weeks 3 lbs! I go to the gym daily (treadmill, and light resistance training). It's really frustratrating and I feel hungry between snacks & meals. This is what the other bandsters call "Bandster Hell"! My first fill is 11/5 and I can not wait!!! Good luck to you!
  2. Hi Marialisa! How is life after your first fill? I'm still stuck on the same number after 3 weeks of eating right and working out! Grrrrr! Two more weeks until my first fill - can't wait! Take care!

    Sandy

  3. Hi Vikki! How's it going? When do you get your first fill? I am still stuck at the same weight (3 weeks no change) and am working out all the time. Do you portion your food? I'm eating healthy until I'm satisfied/full but can't shed a pound! Two more weeks until my fill!

  4. Congrats on being newly banded! I'm 4 weeks down and now can't wait for my first fill! They call this time period "Bandster Hell", so, on behalf of all of us in "hell"....welcome!!! Sandy

Wow! What a beautiful transformation! You must feel great! Congratulations!
  6. Hey Crazy! You must be pretty excited! Does your dr. require pre-op diet? I'm 4 weeks post op (tomorrow) and it's going pretty well. I've gotten back into a routine at the gym and I feel like I can really do this (I'm really freaked out about sagging skin, so I'm doing cardio and for now light strength training). Get excited! Look out world...Crazychica is going to be a knockout!!

  7. You're adorable! Congratulations on your success....next time in Cancun, you'll be in a bikini!!

  8. Hey Crazy!!!! Every step at this point is exciting! Do you have a pre-op diet that you have to follow?

    Looking for Support

Hi Jenniferm! I am also a September bandster and interested in talking with others banded in this time period. I'm getting my first fill 11/5 (banded 9/22) and can't wait! I feel hungry alot and am having a difficult time with the getting all my daily fluids in. I lost 30 lbs. pre & post op but for the last 2 weeks have stayed at the same weight! It's so frustrating! How are you doing with this? Are you happy with your current results? Keep in touch!
  10. Hi again! You're right, we do deserve this. My first fill is 11/5. I'm afraid I'm hoping too much that the fill will "cure" my appetite. I've lost a total of 30 lbs. (pre & post op combined) but nothing for the last 2 weeks! I know it will come off, I need to be more patient - I just can't wait to see results for myself!!! I went to a formal gala with my husband and packed myself into a pair a spanx and a dress that was very daring (for me!). I felt great (aside from the spanx cutting into my gut!)! It was the first time our friends had seen me without a baggy sweatshirt on and the response was almost overwhelming! What do your friends/family say? Have you always been overweight? My kids keep saying, I wonder what you're going to look like! I have no idea - but I can't wait to see for myself!!!

Wow! You look fantastic! Keep up the good work!

    Hiding, really? NOT

LOL! We do love our big camoflauge purses don't we!! I never realized I did the same thing, and then I noticed on many of the pics, it's a pretty common "hiding" tactic! You look fantastic! Keep up the good work!!!
  13. Hi Marialisa! I was just wondering how you were doing since your first fill! Do you still feel hunger? Is there a big difference? I've just completely stopped loosing weight even though I work out every day and eat well (a few minor "bads" but nothing major! It's really frustrating!

  14. Hey Crazy! I understand being nervous - it's really not that bad. Use those pain meds the first few days and no problem! The first week your stomach will be very swollen and you won't be hungry (thank god, because you'll be drinking 1 oz. of protein/liquids every waking 15 minutes!) Do yourself a favor....go to Bariatriceating.com and read about the different protein shake recipes....there are tons!!! I drank vanilla for 2 weeks and was getting so sick of it! I had no idea of all the other varieties, syrups, etc. that you could do to make the liquid stage more appealing! They also guide you into what brands are better for you than others etc. It's been three weeks since banding and I feel completely healed, full of energy, and have started back at the gym (I'm really freaked out about loose skin, so I'm faithfully walking/working out everyday!) Good luck - keep in touch!

  15. Hi! Thanks for the words of encouragement! Bandster Hell is everything it's cracked up to be! I didn't gain this weight overnight, so I need to be more patient!

  16. I was banded on 9/22 and made it through the first three months of dieting, the preop liquid diet the first week of liquids, the second week of mushies, and now that the third week is here, I'm craving (and sometimes indulging in) some of the bad choices that landed me here!!! I haven't gained, but I haven't lost anything in a week! I'm just wondering if I have the willpower of a child in a candy shop or if this is in any way "normal"? Please give me any information leading up to my first fill (11/5) and what I can expect after that! Thanks for any input!
  17. Hi Tracy! How are you doing? I can't figure out how to add my ticker either! How's the dieting going?

  18. Hi Martom! The first week I was fine with the liquids, but on the 8th day post op, I felt hungry, then as each day progressed, I felt hungrier and dissatisfied with the shakes and Jello and liquids. The thing I found the most helpful was Bariatriceating.com. I found different recipes even for the liquid stage so I was able to be a bit more creative with the liquid choices I made. Hang in there! We're in "Bandster Hell" but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!! Keep in touch!
  19. Hi Crazychica!!! I was banded 9/22/09 and completely know what you're going through! It's not fun and I have the willpower of a child in a candy shop - that's what got me here! I can't wait for my first fill on 11/5. I'm hoping the hunger and cravings will ease up! This site is great for encouragement and support! Whenever I feel like I'm going to indulge, I look at before & after pics. It really does help! Best of luck to you - you are already gorgeous - be prepared to be drop dead gorgeous in no time!!!

  20. Thanks for the support!!! I think you're right in taking one day at a time. I know that my head is now stronger than my stomach in most (but not all) of my food intake decisions! It's hard right now because I am hungry and the idea that 1/2 cup of food is supposed to fill me up is insane! I'm eating healthy foods but my portions are more than I thought I'd be eating at this point (still no where near what I used to eat). I guess I'm just anxious for results and to not be so hungry! Keep in touch - it would be great to hear how you're dealing with the different stages!
  21. Hey Vikki! I get my first fill on 11/5. I'm doing okay with the diet but stopped losing weight. I lost 8lbs. the first week post op and nothing more for the last 2 weeks! Went to a catered B-Day party for some friends and the food looked amazing, (Pan fried chicken, steaks, etc. but I could only eat the mashed potatoes!! I've cheated a few times, but I'm eating my high protein, low fat foods religiously. I would love nothing more than to sit in front of a pan of brownies and pig out - I'm glad my head is getting stronger than my stomach! It's really hard though! How've you been handling "bandster hell"?!

  22. What a beautiful transformation! Congratulations - you look fantastic!

  23. Wow! You look fantastic! I was banded 9/22/09 and can't wait to see what a difference a year will make! Congratulations on your beautiful transformation!!!!

  24. Hi Vikki!

How's the diet going? I'm hungry, working out, and not losing weight! It's frustrating! I'm not sure if it's because I lost a lot of weight fast in the beginning or it I'm doing this wrong! Do you know when you get your first fill?

  25. Hi Tracy!

It took me a while to figure this out as well! Unless my kids show me or do it for me I'm pretty much lost in technology! If your looking for some really great recipes go to bariatriceating.com - I found it really helpful in suggesting which protein powders are the best for you and the most flavorful. I also found out the joys of adding sugarfree syrups to really make a knockout protein shake. (I'm hooked on protein hot chocolate and cappuccino's) I like warm beverages and these are fantastic and filling!
