Prior to giving LapBand a thought I fought weight issues from an early age.  I had tried everything from pills to Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet and Slim Fast.  Much to aveal those were only short term weight losses.  I would start off extremely well and even work out. But within a matter of a few months I would just leave it and regain all my weight back.  Of course every time you loose weight you not only regain the weight you lost but more so that was the worst part.  Over the past 5 years my weight rocketed to 226lbs.  I would look at pictures and just be disgusted with them.  Within those years I began to have other medical problems come up.  I became diabetic and had to take metformin daily.  I later developed obstructive sleep-apnea and had to undergo many sleep tests and eventually had a tonsillectomy thinking that would help.  Of course that did not help so my last alternative was to sleep with a c-pap machine.  I absolutely refused to do so because I am so claustrophobic so I just slept with many pillows under me. In addition to this my acid reflux had become so bad that I had ulcers that would not heal even though I had been on several medications (protonix, prilosec, nexiun). Then 2 years ago I became extremely ill and was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer.  Needless to say, my life was put into a different perspectum and something needed to change.  Now that I have been in remission for 2 years I said enough is enough.  I will do whatever it is I need to do to learn to enjoy life with my husband and children.......My surgery was on 08/27/09 and I am only 4 days post op.  I know that it will not be easy but it will give me back the life I should enjoy!
