    Tomorrow's the day!

I'm getting my bloodwork done @11ish. What time is yours? I'll try to text you since it's late and you may not get this before you get to Big D. Anna
  2. Theresa- I am so excited for you. Sounds like you're doing a great job with the preop diet. I start mine next week. Can't wait to hear from you!

Congratulations Dalite! I'm glad things went so well for you. Enjoy the break from your daily routine, you will be back to it in no time.
  4. From what I have seen on this board, every doctor has a different pre-op diet. Mine has you do 5 slim-fast shakes or bars a day and a sensible meal. Just follow whatever he tells you to do.

    December 7th!!!

Congratulations on your date and financing! The 7th well be here before you know it.
  6. Could you take a 2nd certified check? If you don't use it you should be able to put it back in your account. I'd compare the fees for that and the fees for traveler's checks.
  7. I got my band off on Tuesday - WHOOP- and saw Dr. Nick today for follow-up. He had nothing but good news. The was NO erosion or scar tissue on my stomach from the band - WHOOP again! He had put a drain in as a precaution and took that out today, too. (THANK GOODNESS it was making me crazy.) Anyway - it all comes down to this - I'm getting sleeved December 22! What a great Christmas present and fantastic way to start the new year!
  8. I had my band removed on Tuesday, YIPPEE! But now I have a headache that just won't quit. Tylenol doesn't help. I've tried protein, sugar and caffeine and those don't help either. Even the pain meds from my surgery don't help. I'm sure it is because of my post-op liquid diet but does anyone have a suggestion?:cursing:
  9. Thanks for all of the help. I had thought about the dehydration thing and am trying to make sure I'm drinking enough. It finally did subside today.
  10. Thanks Barb- Things went well. He said there wasn't much scar tissue and it looked real clean, no erosion of anything. Couldn't have asked for a better report. Happy Thanksgiving!

  11. Thanks Theresa. I think it went well. He told my dh there wasnt' much scar tissue where the band was, so that is good. He left a drain in, but I'm not really sure why. I have to go Friday to get it removed. I am pretty sore and move pretty slowly. Thanks so much for remembering me today and praying for me! I just love my new friends like you!!

  12. Tomorrow is the de-banding day. I'm scheduled for 1:45, although everytime I talk to someone, they make it earlier than the last person. LOL I should be back home tomorrow evening. I will have my sleeve either the week before you or the same week as you. Are you self-pay or insurance? If your self-pay, I might actually meet you since we'll be at the same facility, Forest Park. That is where I will be tomorrow, I'll let you know about it. I'm excited for you! Talk to you soon.

  13. I responded to her message but I haven't heard back from her. Glad you were able to change Disney. I'm excited for you and your sleeve date. Keep me posted.

  14. I am glad things went well for you. I get my band out next week and then my sleeve in December. I have some issues that need to resolve between the 2 surgeries. I am having my surgery in Dallas. Who is your surgeon?
  15. Hey Theresa! Have you heard from Barbannn? I know she met with Dr. Nick on Wednesday but I haven't heard from her since before her consult.

  16. I heard today that insurance said no, so I am moving on with the self-pay route, which was my original plan anyway. I am having my band removed Tuesday, November 17. That's 4 days from today! Talk about moving fast. That will give me 4 - 5 weeks to heal before the sleeve surgery over my Christmas break. FINALLY things are starting to move! Thanks for all of y'alls encouragement while I waited to hear from insurance.
  17. Congratulations!! I'm still waiting to hear. Let me know when you know more!
  18. Hey Barb - No date yet. We are still waiting to hear from insurance. I plan (hope) to have the same week as you if not the week before. I'm calling again tomorrow. I hope things went well for you today. Sorry I didn't see your message sooner.

  19. I tried to find you on fb too...talk to you again soon.

  20. I was wondering...tried to find you on fb too

    Ahhh!

Ruby - Thinking of you tomorrow. Can't wait to hear how well it all went!! Anna
  22. No dates yet. Surgery one, band removal, should be within the next 2 weeks, I hope. Surgery two, the sleeve, will hopefully be over my Christmas break so I can recover without having to miss work. I really liked that he wanted to do my revision in 2 procedures to lower my risk of leaks/complications. I'll post when I get my dates nailed down.

    Anna

  23. He wants to revise me in 2 surgeries. The first one will just remove the band and then after several weeks, we will do the sleeve. The in between time will be for my stomach to heal and strengthen from the stretch I have now. I am comfortable with that and would rather do what will be best for me with the lowest chance of complications. They are pretty positive that insurance will cover the removal and maybe even the sleeve. I was planning to self pay, but hey, if they'll pay, I'll take it. Hopefully the first surgery will be in the next week or so and then the other during my "winter" (Christmas) break from school.

What are your thoughts after the seminar? I really liked Dr. Nick. My mother went with me and he took time to explain to her what was going on and why we needed 2 procedures, etc. I was impressed.

    Talk to you soon.

  24. Linda-

My name is Anna and we may have traded posts on a forum thread a while back. Anyway, I went to Dr. Nick's seminar on Wednesday night and really liked him. I had my consultation with him yesterday (Friday) and have decided to go with him as my surgeon. I am a revision patient and decided to use a surgeon close to home instead on Mexico. Part of my choice to even consider changing surgeons was your comments about your great experience with him. Thanks for sharing.

  25. Manatee and Texas T - Thanks for the info. My original plan was to do both procedures at once and Dr. Nick said he could do it all at the same time but that would not probably be the best for me because of the concentric dilation (strech) of my stomach (pouch). The stretched part will be very thin, like an inflated balloon wall, and if it will heal and go down some after the band is removed, then I will have less risk for complications down the road. Although I am SO ready to have this done and over with, I need to do what is best for me medically. Again, thanks so much for the info!:confused1:
