    Surgeons Dallas area

Since I was self-pay, scheduling was quick. I don't feel I've ever had to wait an unreasonable amount of time in Dr. Nick's office. I had heard the same thing about waiting for Dr. Barker, but don't know that for sure. I have no idea about the pre-op diets but I haven't seen many that are exactly alike. Some do liquids only, some do shakes, and some do low carb, high protein. You'll just have to ask them.
  9. Hope- Glad you got to talk to someone. I hope his suggestions make things better for you.
  10. Glad you called. Hopefully you'll feel better soon.

    Surgeons Dallas area

Dr. Nick is my surgeon. I was a revision from a band and had a very bad stretch in my pouch. Many surgeons would have done the removal and sleeve in one procedure but Dr. Nick said it would be better to do it in two so that my stretch would shrink and the stomach wall would be thicker when I was sleeved. I agree with Linda about him erring on the cautious side, which is fine with me. He had me stay an extra night in the hospital due to some nausea and low grade temp, which again was just a precaution but so worth if it would keep from later complications. I was self-pay like Linda as well. Don't know much about Dr. Barker but haven't heard anything bad except that one of his patients said she never really got to see him only his PAs. Every appointment I've had with Dr. Nick, I've seen him and the PA. That may not be important to you. I've loved Dr. Nick and feel everytime I see him he remembers me and my situation. How he does it with all the patients he has is amazing. Good luck!
  12. Leave the jammies at home. I stayed in the hospital gown while I was there, it was much easier to move in, go to the bathroom in, etc than jammies. Take a pair of slippers and don't forget the LIP BALM! I took a robe but only wore it a couple of times. Toothbrush and toothpaste are important to help get the funky taste out of your mouth. I wore out the clothes I wore in. Take phone charger. It's the least I've ever taken anywhere when traveling. I didn't worry about make-up, though I did take my face cleanser. I'm thinking of you and praying for you! I'll be in Dallas Wed. to get my drain out. I hope to see you then!

    3 Months out

WOW! Your results are amazing. Keep up the good work!
  14. I am just like you - I hate to bother people on Sunday. BUT your health is MORE important than disturbing your doctor on something you've been dealing with several days. I bet your surgeon knew when he decided on his career path that he would at times have interruptions on the weekend. I am sure he would much rather you call him and get better, than to worsen even more over another 24 hours. This is just my opinion. Hope you're better soon.
  15. My instructions about traveling during the first six weeks, is to stop every hour and get out of the car and walk for about 5 minutes. I had surgery Tuesday and traveled 1.5 hours each way on Friday. I should've stopped but didn't. It just wore me out all that much more. Good luck!
  16. That's great and so encouraging! It's nice to know that someday I will feel "normal" again. Since I'm just a few days out of surgery, I've been wondering if I ever will.
  17. My surgery is tomorrow at 2:00. I am not too nervous yet. Since I've already had and lost the band, hopefully my nerves will stay low. My allergies decided today would be a good day to act up, so I've been sniffing and blowing all day. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow!
  18. Duh - Sorry - it's Knutson. Got the call from Bea and my time was changed from 11:00 to 2:00. Don't know if it's better or worse to go later. My sinuses/allergies have decided to act up, not too bad, but enough to be annoying. Hope you doing better today. I've been busy running around finishing up Christmas and getting ready to convalese (sp?). Talk to you soon.

    Picture update

If you had not told me that was a picture of you, I would have never believed it! You look FANTASTIC and your face shows how fantastic you feel.
  20. OMG-Tuesday is almost here! Since I am self-pay, my surgery will be at Forest Park Medical Center. It's at 75 and Forest Lane. I have no idea what time I might be released, but would love to see you, too. I will send you a message when I have a time, right now it is 11:00. Barb called today to check on me. You two are so sweet and I feel so blessed to have met the two of you. Here's my cell number 903-456-2487. Anna

  21. Theresa - the best advice I ever got with my band is to weigh only once a week. There are too many things that make our weight fluctuate on a daily basis. Remember, you didn't put it on overnight... Your body has gone through a HUGE shock and is adjusting to the surgery recovery AND the restricted intake of calories. Right now just let your body heal and I promise, the weight will come off. (All easier said then done.) You might want to keep this message and send it back to me in a week when I am where you are now! LOL!!!

    Question!

I would either call and bug your surgeon's office to death or switch. You might call your other choice and ask them how long it would take to switch and how far out they schedule. My surgeon worked pretty quickly. I heard from them on a Friday that my insurance would not pay for band removal, decided I would self-pay and was de-banded the next Tuesday, just 4 days later. His office was also very good about scheduling my sleeve around my holiday break from school so I wouldn't have to miss work.

    Abnormal EKG

I can't answer your question about it being a deal breaker or not. I hope it's not or that it is something easily remedied. Please keep me posted. It was good to see and talk to you today!
