  1. Hi Oliverdog , Hi everyone Haven't been on in a while, thought i'd just give a quick update. I'm still struggling a bit with the band. I was banded first week of October and I have 5.75ml but still feel like I need bit more. I thought I'd bit really disappointed at not losing loads of weight by now but I realise it just takes time. I've been getting my fills with Wendy WLS and have another fill in 2 weeks time. I really think this one will be THE one. Oliverdog, how've you been and how's your weight loss going. I haven't shifted anything since the op. Hope to hear from you soon. Debsxxx

Hiya Just to let you know that I paid in full a couple of weeks before my op by bank transfer. Fred was happy to do this and supplied all the details I needed. Just let him know exactly what you want to do as long as they receive a deposit and the full amount before the op they are happy. Good luck. Debs

Hi Bobo HAPPY BANDAVERSITY You really are an inspiration to all of us who have just been banded and those that are due to be. Had a look at your picture – you look wicked. Also, congrats on your up and coming wedding and also to the kids for getting a new playmate.

Hi Val I felt just like you, I feel like I haven't had the op done. I spent the first couple of weeks eating heinz soups, jelly, ice cream, custard and rice pudding (low fat of course). I couldn't think of any other things that were liquidy/mushy. Make sure you drink plenty of water. I am being really careful as to how much I eat. I can literally eat anything now but I make sure I chew it thoroughly and only take small bites. My meal sizes are a quarter of what they were (I think this is because it takes me so long to eat it). Stick with it, I felt just like you. I'm actually looking forward to getting the bleeding fill done now. lol take care Debs xx

HI JB I had a few ops and was in hosp for 3 weeks. I was give the same injections (blood clotting) in the hospital but in the end I asked if I could stop and the Consultant said I could only stop if I took plenty of exercise (which conisted of walking up and down the ward every half hour during the day). I know Dr Chris has said that we must take the injections but if you double check with your own GP I'm sure if you took a bit of exercise you might be able to avoid them. Please DO NOT take my word on this double check with a GP or Nurse. Hope this helps. Debs

Hi Angel Allergies all sorted. Had to go to a private bleeding GP to get an injection, but it'll last a year. I've booked a fill with Wendy at WLS and I'm gonna go for the 12 month package which give lots of advice with nurses, dieticians and as many fills as you need that year. £699. I was gonna just pay for the fills as I need them but I though after spending all that money on the op another 700 is my little insurance policy to make sure I stay on track. I'm gonna go back to the gym next week. I've a little exercise strider thing in my bedroom (otherwise known as the clothes horse) which I will wipe the dust off an use as well. Also, I've been using bio oil on my scars and they are really healing up nicely. Nurse at GP said any oil will do. Speak soon Debd

Hiya Angel It's only been over two weeks and I am finding that I can eat anything. I am eat small amounts. I just feel like I am on a diet and I am literally just sticking to WILL POWER, which I do not have enough of. I'm going back to work next week. I had a big prob with allergies (nothing to do with op) and only just managed to sort them out. I'm literally bleeding allergic to everything now lol You keep up the good work. I've lost around 12lbs but I'm a bit worried about being able to eat anything. I make sure it is well chewed. Can anyone tell me - could I do damage to the band. I think if I could get a fill now I would. I don't even feel like there is anything there, apart from an occasional twinge where the port is. Debs

HI All I need to think about having a fill soon. Can someone give me the contact details and prices etc. for WLS and Fred. Also, not sure who to go with. Does anyone have a preference? My weight is coming down gradually, and I do feel full at times (and managed to stop eating which I have never done before) should I still get a fill? Cheers Debs

Hi Angel So good to hear from you, I didn't realise you were on here (just a double check - you were the blonde scottish lady). I am feeling so much better, still feel quite dragged down on the haematoma side but I'm getting there. I'm managing to eat Soups, custards, jelly (low fat of course) etc with no discomfort at all. In fact I can't wait to move onto something a little more substantial. When is it that we can eat mushies? Is it 10 days? I can't wait. I don't feel any restriction at all and not sure whether I should be or not as it has not been filled. I've kept in touch with the others that had the op that day and they are all doing really well. Although I haven't heard from Mary, the scottish lady, but I'm sure she is fine as she and her daughter went to Brussels shopping on the day I left. Keep well. Debs x
  16. Hiya

I am feeling so much better now. Dr Chris said I had a haematoma (not too common) a collection of blood under the skin. He said it will go in 4 to weeks. I am feeling great now. Little bit of a drag on the haema side.

Few tips for your trip. Are you staying at the Campinell (cant spell it). I was having a shower on the morning of op and went arse over tit and pulled the hole shower rail down and landed on the floor LOL. There is no grip int he bleeding bath. Make sure you bring plenty to read, dvd, computer (they have wifi in rooms). If you are feeling well you will be bored.

I'm eating liquids Heinz soups, custard, rice pud. Hope all goes well. Keep in touch.

Hiya Thanks you all for your messages and support. I am feeling so much better. Dr Chris said I had a haematoma on the opposite side of the port which is what is causing the pain. They could have operated again but he said it was quite small and would go on its own but would take about 6 weeks. I was planning on going back to work next week, but I'm just taking it on a day by day basis at the moment. For anyone going over to Brussels soon, I cannot praise the hospital, hotel and staff enough. You will be well looked after. Knackered, back to bed for me.

HI All I got banded yesterday. I was fine yesterday but I am in agony today. Shoudl I be in this much pain. It is not the side of the port. I dont know how I am gonna get on the eurostar tomorrow if this continues,. Dr Chris and Fre gave me loads of pain killers and told me to rest. There were 5 other people booked in at same time and they are running around like they never had the op. Should it me like this? Sorry for the moan, just looking for some reassurance. Going back to sleep now. Debs

Hi All I'm off tomorrow morning - being banded on Tuesday. I've lost a few pound on the low fat diet, looking forward to losing loads more. I'm actually not too worried at the moment, it'll probably hit me on the train on the way there. lol No doubt I'll be in touch soon looking for more of all your valuable advice. Debs
  20. I still aint told anyone at work and I am really hoping to be back at work the following week. I read a few posts that said they were fine after a week - got my fingers crossed.

Best go now. Have to get off to sleep before find something else to stick in my gob coz i'm STARVING:drool:. I'll keep in touch. Let me know how you pre-diet goes.

  21. I've wasn't too nervous about the op, but last night I had a bit of a bad dream and woke up panicking thinking 'why am I doing this, :scared2: just cancel', it's obviously at the back of my mind, I keep saying I'll be fine, but it is a little worrying. I've been reading all the posts though and they are really positive.

They say a low fat diet but have still had a few treats but I got the weight watchers ones or tesco light ones. Not too many though. I've had ryvita's for brekkie instead of the usual half a galaxy and bucket of coffee and usualy another bleeding salad in the evening.

I've only got a few days to go now. My son is coming with me, to carry the bags etc. I've got my girdle and big knickers lol, and also my insect repellent. Apparently alot of mossies in Brussels.

  23. Hi Val

Hope you had a brill holiday and great you didn't put on any weight. I don't think I have ever ever managed to do this.

My diet is going OK? Mucked up a few times (curry) but I am taking the Milk Thistle so hopefully this will help. Ive lost about 4lb so far, could have lost more though. I've been eating alot of chicked salad, which thankfully I like. Infact, as i've gotten older I seem to like everything. There was a time when I actually didn't like burgers and pizzas and MAYO. Now I eat the bleeding lot. I think the taste buds in my gob have abandoned me - they've given up.

Hi Anita I was appalled when I read you post. I am due to have my band fitted on 6th Oct - I hope to god that I do not get treated this way if I have any problems. I actually work for the NHS (not a dr) and I'd just like to say the majority of dr's are not like this, I think you just came across the poor unfortunate one that had her head stuck up her own a**e. You should definitely complain and follow it through. Hope your feeling much better. Debs x

Hi OliverDog I e-mailed Fred just to check that he has received my deposit and he e-mailed me advising that I would be picked up from the airport, someone would be holding one of their signs, and they would take me to the hotel and that Fred would see me at the hotel around 7 or 8 that night. I'm starting the lowfat on over the weekend. I thought i'd eat all my favourites over the last week or so, I haven't actually put on any weight but I tell ya, I'm sick of food - at last lol. Got the big knickers and I also bought a girdle that you can wrap round your waist and it dies up at the side, I was just a bit worried whether I would be able to bend over, I don't really want to ask my 23yr old son to help me out. I'm holding on to that old trick until I'm a bit older lol. I haven't been thinking about the op too much, I'm not at all worried, I did have a look at some of the other sites where things went wrong (I felt I should see the other side of the coin) but I'm staying on this happy thread. I'm planning on going back to work the following week, just hope I'll be up to it. Though, reading through some of the more recent ops everyone seems to be getting on really well. I'll keep you posted. Debs x
