Any February 2009 Bansters?
iwalktheline replied to exumtam's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i had my surgery on 2/16/08. i am so happy i did this i could cry. i actually feel hopeful about myself for the first time in a long time. i started at 223 it caused alot of problems. high bld prssr, severe arthritis and very painful carpal tunnel syndrome. well guess what, in the last 2 days my hands are pain free and no more numbness. i have lost about 13 pounds and it has taken the pressure off my median nerve. if anyone wants to hear my story just pm me. good luck. -
6 month supervised diet
iwalktheline replied to Oceannites's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it is all about your insurance. as long as you have a significant history of being obese and attempting weight loss that is what they usually look at. I started at 5'6 223 and was one month post partum when i saw my pcp for lap banding. i did EVERYTHING they told me. i wrote a two page letter listing every year for the last 25 years how i was losing and gaining (one year i was 160 the next year i was 210) i never missed an appt. i would lose or gain 2 pounds (on purpose) during my 6 month "diet" if you go to your surgeon and you are 160 pounds (even though you started at 200+) he won't do surgery on you. just stay the way u are and do everything they ask. (i had high blood pressure and high cholesterol to qualify) -
i get so many compliments on this that i have to keep making it i actually cook my spaghetti sauce all day in the crock pot 1 jar of traditional ragu 1-2 large can of tomatoe sauce 1 tiny can of paste 6 uncooked italian sausage (whole) couple quick pours of balsamic vinagar bay leaf salt pepper sugar and oregano/basil seasoning(eyeball it) **i brown about a pound of ground beef/one onion/fresh garlic/dash of red wine/salt and pepper on the stove and add it first to the crock pot then i add everything else and simmer all day on low the meats add so much flavor you can make this on the stove too

hi all, i was finally banded on the 16th. im doing "ok". i feel like was kicked in the stomach. and my belly is round and distended. i just can't imagine eating anything. i have only had a bite of jello and a gatorade in 3 days. so when will i get my hunger back?
-
the preop diet is hard but u will do it because it's for surgery. i am glad i did it because i think i would have gone into shock from what i used to eat and now banded. just to let u know i did go out 2 nights before surgery and have a huge cheeseburger loaded with everything and never told. the surgeon said surgery was absolutely perfect and my liver was completely normal. (by the way that was the best cheeseburger i have ever had)

iwalktheline replied to iwalktheline's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yeh youre right. don't you feel like u have weird stuff going on in you're stomach? my incisions hardly hurt. it's the internal pain that is bothering me and my chest and back hurt. i took an aleve and boy did it help. -
congrats to u, wow 50 pounds is awesome. i am only supposed to have food w/pudding consistancy for the first 2 weeks. anyone have any of their favorite food ideas for me. thanks

Ate too much 1 week post op.
iwalktheline replied to Bandnerd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
don't feel bad. you have an addiction to food like the rest of us. food=comfort. so i am being banded tomorrow and i feel sad tonight. i think it's because i have been on a strict diet for 2 weeks and i hate every minute of it. i break it more and more as each day approaches. i went out on friday to Cheeseburger in Paradise and had a big burger and it was everything i could have ever imagined. i swear i think i saw fireworks when i took my first bite. im just going to take it day by day and do my best. hang in there. -

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
iwalktheline replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
im on the preop diet now 7 days and im starved. i feel foggy and weird all the time. i HAVE NOT cheated at all, but i think i am going to have a fresh cheeseburger w/onions, mushrooms, mayo lettuce and tomato and pickles about 2 nights before the surgery because that is what i am craving and i may not ever be able to eat that again. it's not going to screw up my surgery. im still thinking (or should i say dreaming) about it...im starving -
ive been on the low kcal diet for 5 days now and i really do feel better below the neck. my head feels like it's in a fish bowl. i feel woozy and lightheaded. waiting for it to goaway and not come back. how bout yall's

Port sticking out like a hernia!
iwalktheline replied to Marmite_crumpet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the nurse is right but she or the doc still hav to examine you. im sure your surgeon would want to see u right away if he hears about this complaint. u should call again when they are open. -
today is my 4th day and this is probably the first time in 40 years i haven't cheated on a diet. it is gettin easier. yesterday i had: protein shake hand full of carrots 5 slices of turkey weight watchers yogurt apple lean cuisine fat free/sugar free pudding pretty good for someone that was eating about 3500 kcals a day.

i know my surgeon likes to keep people overnight because he said so many people have sleep apnea, but i have big healthy lungs. i have more ANXIETY about having to stay in the hospital than i do about the surgery. i have kids and i NEVER leave my 8 month old. i cry at the thought of he and i being apart for that long:confused:

Stomach feeling- top full bottom empty?
iwalktheline replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you're not crazy for feeling that sensation. ur body is amazing and doing it's job. people (women more) know their bodies. off topic, but i can actually feel around time of day my egg ovulates each month. i am being banded in a week and a half so i am trying to wrap my brain around all the stuff that i read.(i have a question) when you say that ur food is stuck, is that the same feeling everyone(non lapbanders) gets very rarely when u swallow a peice of steak wrong and its burning intense pain in the center top of your chest? -
hi i am being banding on the 16th. been working on this since july 08. i am absolutely terrified. i can't even imagine how scary it would be to have to go to a foreign county and have an operation. i know that for the right amount of money u will get a good doc. would u have to stay in a mexican hospital if the doc wanted to keep u overnight? i wish u soo much luck. did anyone start their diet yet? i did yesterday and i am starving. i can't even think straight i am so hungry.

sorry, i had to reread his blog. im confused about whatever it is he had done. i guess he is saying that people were reporting wrong he didn't have lapband. my bad:rolleyes: i think he does look much healthier than before his wls.

Question for Nurses and others with a short lunch...
iwalktheline replied to RestlessMonkey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
im an rn and i have worked icu and med/surg. u better start to make habits now. u bring a water bottle and put ur name on it and u leave it in the break room and u go drink it when ever u damn well please. u can set ur cell phone to vibrate if u need reminders. u need to eat a lunch but u won't get a full 30 mins. just go in eat and get back to the unit. in nursing if u take a full break they will think ur lazy, if u miss a lunch they will think u r ineffective. just fly below the radar and u will be fine. -
i actually am weird and have researched stars that have lapbanding and bipass. al roker had lap banding and lost 120 lbs and gained back 20-30 to date. he admitted he was eating too much. carnie had bipass like 4-5 years ago and was 300 pounds at surgery and got down to like 140sh. she was over 200 after giving birth and admitted to stuffing herself. she was on oprah a few weeks ago and is now down to 160 or 170 and pregnant again. she never gained all the weight back but still struggles w/a severe food addiction sharon osborne had lapbanding 7 or so years ago and weighed 250 at surgery. she lost 125 pounds. for some reason she wanted her band removed last year. she did have it removed and i have notice on her show that she is gaining wt i think randy jackson looks great compared to what he used to look like. not too big/not too skinny.
-
i am an rn and listen to patients carefully over the years. 100% of all people that have had wls i have dealt w/are happy they did it. but i am having banding because i am starting to see the people w/bipass and sleaves gain the weigt back and it scares me. i know w/the band nothing is being permanently cut. i also have issues w/food and the band is going to be my "tool" to help. ideally i wish that i could just get my wt under control and not have to have any surgery, but i just can't (been trying for 30 years)two weeks till banding and im not looking back.

iwalktheline replied to NoPBJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
