This month has been a bit awkward I ve jumped on the scale one too many times. I have not lost or gained a thing. I ve felt less than satisfied with my 4 oz servings at meal time. I am sure its time to increase my 2cc for better control. My newest plan for exerciseing is be on a unchangeable scheduel starting today. I did my mile in the pool at the Y this morning at 6 am. It takes me about 20 mins to do it. The YMCA is a few blocks from my office so I ahve no excuses PLease REMIND me I have no excuses !!!!!!! I am calling my Dr today also :rolleyes2:for an appt to set a another fill date.

LarraineM replied to A-WENZ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I went to the emergency room to find that my pancreace was inflammed caused by a loose stone ( I thought my band had slipped or something). After 3 dys on iv only they were able to safley remove it. Everything is back to normal now. -
6 months is a long time
LarraineM replied to Timoyal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will be ok........ I bitched up a storm about the same issue with BCBS. & 7 months later in retrospect that time was a good for me to really be sure I knew what I was getting into. No regrets, from me its really is a life style change and you need to wrap your brain around -
My surgery is Monday May 17th @ 8:30am (I might back out)
LarraineM replied to ChocolateDream81's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just take a DEEP breath......... you are haveing this surgery so that you can have a better life, its not just a elective surgery for the fun of it. You are here at this moment for a reason. Pray and ask others to pray for you to. It never fails me......... I had my first surgery 4 yrs ago and experienced the same fear. I needed back surgery I was amazed at how I did'nt remember a thing about them wheeling me to the operateing room. -
I will never be sorry that I voted for and supported the Obama-Biden Ticket. They have given their all to make improvements in our country. Change is a good thing !

To Tell or Not to Tell?
LarraineM replied to 2beskinny's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For me I wanted to make my own decesion about having the band I research it about 3 yrs ago and thought right away it would be a great help to me. Unfortunalty my insurance company did'nt.So the very minute the policy changed I went for it.Only my closest friends knew I was planning on going thru with the surgery. I did'nt want people not close to me giving me their opinons yeah or nay. After surgery if anyone ask I tell, I am not ashamed of it nor do I feel the need to defend it. "Lapbanding is not a easy fix" you have to work it ! -
How many calories a day do you eat?
LarraineM replied to Sammysue78's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly I have no clue............... -
I found with myself that measureing is a key. Its amazeing how your hunger will effect your vision. My eyes tell me what I want not what i actually need 4oz. My Doc continues to school me on the 4 oz rule. I too have a problem with how quickly I eat. I never sit in front of TV and eat because its mindless.I found the baby spoons helpful they force me to think about what I am about to put in my mouth

"It's only a Tool" scares me
LarraineM replied to HAL380's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I d say that the" Lap Band is a tool" is pretty spot on. There are no magic bullets here or anywhere,to MAKE you lose weight. You must be fully committed to making the right choices along with the assistance from your new best friends you and your belt. The lap band is not for everyone its not always easy and sometimes it can be pretty messy. So if you are not in for the marathon,it would be best just pass on the idea. -
Had my visit after my first fill of 2 wks ago. 4 more lbs gone. My Doc thinks I got this, so he said one more visit next month before going to a every three months visit. I feel like I am graduateing or something yeah!!!!!!!!! His words of advice stick to the 4 0z measurement at each meal I don't need to get ahead of myself on this. I agree weighing measureing your intake is critical.............it would be so easy to just eyeball my intake and let my brain confuse want with need.

LarraineM replied to Ruthie1974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try baby utencils...... I use them at home they help me think about what I should be doing. Also get away from the TV mindless eating continues even after the band. I eat faster if I am watchiing Tv -
Indispensable tools?
LarraineM replied to perryjoyce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Biggest loser scale...... helps greatly when maintaining that 4 oz meal. Our eyes play tricks on us we can only think we know what 4 oz look like on that small plate. -
What do you normally have for breakfast?
LarraineM replied to gingerjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same thing each morning 4oz of greek yogart with sugar free cool whip. I find it satisfying and greek yogart has about 2x the amount of protien of regular yogart. -
Feeling great about my decison to have the Lap Band. I ve had many ups and downs just as all other banders even still i would'nt change a thing. 67 pounds down I am proud of myself. I am physically more active now by just pushing myself. My back pain is much improved and even my arthritis seems to be enjoying my new lifestyle. I ve eliminated the need for two of my medications I ve taken for yrs. I realize now that the meds had some side effects that I had accepted as my normal. They too I have been left behind. I am enjoying something I had stoped enjoying for quite awhile SHOPPING !!!!!!!! ( from 24 t0 18 I am really stoked ! I love donating my big ol stuff to those who need, a even bigger:thumbup:
