I am so angry at myself!
LarraineM replied to gloglo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Lapband cannot be sucessful all alone. Ask any bandster you need to be fully committed and work and work and work at it some more. There is no magic cure to obesity............but the lapband can work if you just gohead and marry it...................seriously -
Go girl, don't let anyone get in the way of you getting in the right lane............

Gastric Sleeve vs. Banding
LarraineM replied to BeautyisherGODgivenname's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My research lead me to the banding option. Firstly I am a winnie when it comes to surgical proceedures I just know the Bypass was too extreme for me. I have never met a person with a Bypass that did'nt have multiple complications. Lap band has issues but it is possiable to reverse or remove if need be. Recent studies on outcomes with Bypass are scary. The instances of heart attack and death are extremely high one yr out from surgery. They attribute this to nutrition no longer being asorbed by your body .........eek. This is not something anybody should want for themselves. -
I HATE ice cream!!!!!
LarraineM replied to Sabrinaaa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
AMEN............its always just sitting there in my freezer waiting for my glance that turns into a touch. My only battle tool is that I make sure that it is ALWAYS no sugar added ice cream with a dab of no sugar added cool whip. Of course its limited to a 1/2 cup -

How do you feel about a mosque at "Ground Zero"?
LarraineM replied to loserbob's topic in Rants & Raves
I believe the whole thing is being bown out of wack by media sources.Considering that they have so far raised $18,000 dollars I am not too worried about it. Any guess at how many millions they will have to raise to accomplish their goal ? I do not invision it happening for decades.I do truely believe in freedom of worship the Community Center has been a fixture there for many yrs. Realize this too, many muslims also died in the 9/11 attacks also. -
Time for a Revision??
LarraineM replied to TxChelsey's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am not going to be harsh with the honesty you just shared. I felt how painful that was to say about one self. As tuff has the responces have been they are basically true. You have not acknowledged that there are no magic bullets available for you or anybody who battle weight issues. Try with all your might to regroup and start fresh with your band again. If not seek professional counseling to asssit you in your journey..............find out the WHYS.......before you jump to another method, that really is the issue........ ( Tool+ Your comittment= Sucess) -
Please help! I'm Stalled!!
LarraineM replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everybody in here have different instructions concerning diet. I am ten months out and my Dr still insist that 4oz or a half a cup per meal should be my norm.(Focus on protien) It works I am allowed to lightly snack between meals. My physical activity has to be in place 3x weekly,30 mins walking in the pool. You can do this ! Talk with Dr or Nutrinist about tweeking your diet -

Patty there are still many christians @lap band,we just choose to engage our hearts and minds in just living for the day and the moment. We view God world as a diverce place full of wonderful creatures of all types and live in peace. The judgements are not for us to make, hrs apon hrs of pointless anger ,and damnation will not change anyone world view.I ve only been on this site 10 months but each time I recieved something with your name attached to it I'd just dumped it,never never read it I wish you peace................

No one has all the answers. If this(lapband) can help you get to a healty weight and change your lifestyle then I d opt in. If you don't feel like it can make a diffference in your circumstance then hold that thought for clarity. Its not a magic bullet its work everyday to stay compliant with a plan. -
Gallbadder removal following Banding?
LarraineM replied to Purrplelover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my GB out 3 months out from banding. I found the GB surgery less bothersome than banding.Primarly the gas pain did not happen with my GB surgery. Also my surgeon did'nt create another cut sight he just went thru one already there. Good luck -
Kathy's first goal reached: Low 200s (184 pounds lost in 23 months)
LarraineM replied to SkinnyKathy's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats Girl ! I am inspired -
There are NO magical cures for obesity, I would have found it by now believe me. What I have experienced is the band and what it gives me a chance to gain control over my hunger. What becomes clear is if hunger is removed why is that I continue to overeat ? Its my emotions that work against so many and if you don't get them under control you are doomed..............

I gave up my gallbladder 2 months after my lap band surgery. If my Dr is suggesting it I d listen. Its basicly the same type of proceedure Laproscopic I did'nt even need different insisions they just went right thru the same spots as my lap band. Pain wise there is nothing like loose stones in your body.......very painful. My stone traveled to my pancrease and cause inflamation I had to stay in the hospital three days on IV only nothing by mouth just to get the inflamed pancrease calmed down so that could take my gall bladder out. So I d say listen to your dr suggestion.

Dying for a Diet Coke!!
LarraineM replied to Mamarotten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was @ least a 5 cans of diet coke per day habit before surgery 9 months ago. I gave it up and it was not as hard as I thought it would be. Lets face its not a good habit for anyone even those without the band science shows its horriable for our bones long term and I have arthritis, So why not change another unhealthy habit along with my overeating habit ? I said YES! I now have a subsitute Powerade Zero, its a sports drink with electrolites and no sugar...........change is a good thing
