I always worked irregular hours, sometimes doing 15-16 hour days, often in remote locations, my weight balloned from 168lbs to 248lbs over a seven year period.I then started my own business and although I was able to fad diet, I found it impossible to motivate myself after my weight loss sort of stuck, and soon started eating the wrong foods at the wrong time.I then started to investigate gastic band surgery, and enquired at my local centre who stressed that I would need to get my excesive drinking under control before I could even consider the procedure. After about 8 months I had given up the whisky in favour of red wine, and applied again, and went through with the op eration on the 18th June2009, and had a fill on the 5th August 2009, which resulted in an inability to eat any dry foods.I should explain that although I was not considered massively overwweight I had other health issues, in type two diabetes treated by insulin, which causes an amount of erectile disfunction, hypertension treated by perindopril, and was also diagnosed as having a fatty liver, which I have resolved by kicking the hard drink.I am now about 10 weeks post op, have lost 30lbs, which seems to have stuck again, excercise regularly, due to the change of diet I only inject a fraction of the amount of insulin, I have a blood pressure monitor which reads at the low side of normal, and the erectile dysfunction although still present is not as pronounced in that a single Ciallis gives about a weeks respite.I had hoped to be continuing to lose, but seem to have stuck, and have great difficulty in selecting food groups, as my dietician says I should steer towards protein foods, to help my diabetes, but it is so difficult to resist a small bowl of cereal with skimmed milk.I also seem to be able to force food through my band and am only sick if I drink too soon after eating, I do have this dread that I will get to about 203lbs and not lose any more, although common sense says that if I stick to small portions of healthier foodstuffs and exercise I must lose.Any practical advice would be a godsend, as I attended two of the support group meetings, and found that opinionated people kidnap the meetings, and no advice is received, it really was incredible, and I concluded not a healthy environment or a forum for well meaning help.
