    Explaining the weight loss

I tell people that I'm watching what I eat and exercising. I feel the surgery is a personal thing for me. Only my family and best friend knows.
  2. Trust me, you aren't alone. I was banded in November. I currently have 4 cc's in an 11 cc band. I don't have any restriction either. I can eat anything. I even find myself not chewing well at times and it doesn't get stuck. I have to stop and remember to chew, chew, chew. I even gulp water at times and have to stop and remember to sip. I'm going back for another fill next week. I'm hoping it will give me some restriction. Don't give up! It is a work in progress. It just takes time to get to the right spot.

    Self-payers

I would think it wouldn't take very long if you are self pay. I started out trying to get insurance to pay for it. I fought that battle for several months. I think as long as you don't have to jump through all of the hoops that the insurance companies make you do, you should be able to have the surgery pretty quick.

    Self-payers

I'm self pay too. I'm so scared that I will end up having complications and have to pay for them. I figure it is worth the risk though. I need to get healthier. My surgery is tomorrow. I did run into one issue though. The doctor's office quoted me one price. When I got to the hospital, they told me it was going to be $4700.00 more than what I already paid. They wanted it right then and there before they could do pre-op work. When I found out I would have to self pay, I had called the office twice to get the correct amount since I was bringing cashier's checks. Evidently, both times they gave me the wrong price. Moral of the story is, get the price in writing. I didn't do that so I was stuck paying the extra $4700.00. So my surgery is a little over $13,000.
  8. I'm currently following the pre-op diet too. Only one more day to go! LOL I'm a very picky eater and can't stand Protein drinks. I did find some that work for me. They are from Chike. Chike Nutrition - Best Tasting Meal Replacement shake. Guaranteed. Pour, Shake, Drink & Go! They taste really good to me. You can get free samples from them. There are also a lot of recipes here theworldaccordingtoeggface: My Favorite Protein Shake Recipes.

    Anyone with Aetna Insurance ???

No worries! I kind of knew it was going to happen. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I looked into carecredit, but from what I can tell, your doctor has to accept carecredit. At least that's what I'm getting out of the site. My doctor isn't on their list of doctors.

    Anyone with Aetna Insurance ???

My appeal got denied. All because my BMI isn't high enough. Now I'm looking at self pay options. I gotta get a loan somewhere.

    Anyone with Aetna Insurance ???

I was denided by Aetna in August because my BMI isn't over 40. Currently, it is 39.6 with no co-morbids. I filed an appeal around the end of August. I was told it would take four to six weeks to find out the results. I am going CRAZY! I hate sitting and waiting. I started calling every day this week to find out the status. So far, I've been told there hasn't been a decision made.
