  1. I just moved back to San Diego after living in Australia for 5 years where I was banded in 2009. I have never done well with the band and not lost any weight. I am desperately looking for a support group that meets at least once a month. Please help?!?!
  2. Happy 49th Birthday CallieOzgirl!

  3. 2 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 2nd Anniversary CallieOzgirl!

  4. Thanks for the replies. I don't ever throw-up but it just feels awful for anywhere from a minute up to 10 if real bad. I take my time to chew the food real good, sometimes I probably eat a bit too fast. Sometimes it is worse than others. I just wonder if that part gets any better with time. I understand about breads or some meats getting stuck but eggs, soggy cereal?! This is a lot tougher than I thought it would be!!
  5. I was banded 8/09 and now have 5.3ml's in my band. I still don't get full quick at all. I do however have a big problem with food going down. Yesterday I had scrambled eggs and it took me about a half hour to get them down, today I ate cereal (soggy now) and it is hard to get down. There are some things I don't eat because they really get stuck but lots of other things just feel uncomfortable. Morning does seem to be the worst. Does this get any easier?!? The more fills you get does it make that worse?! Please help, this is very frustrating!!! Cheers, Laurie

    Calling all adeladian bandsters!!!

Hi Suzie76, Yes, I will tell you more. It starts in the afternoon at 2pm with opening ceremonies, then survivors and carers walk the first lap then everyone else starts walking. It is a walk around an oval with one member from each team (should have at least 10 members on each team) walking at all times. So you take turns with your team members in walking. It ends the next morning at around 9am with closing ceremonies. At sunset there is a candlelight ceremonies and throughout the entire relay there is a stage with performers, music and lots of other stuff to do and see. It is a fun, party atmosphere but also a remembrance of lost ones and hope to survivors. Each team is encouraged to raise money, the amount is up to each individual. You take a tent since it is overnight and they are set up in the middle of the oval. There will be dinner and breakfast there if you choose to have it. If you can't stay all night you can leave and come back as long as one member from the team is still there. Let me know what you think!!! Check out the website as well. It is an AMAZING experience and hard to describe unless you have been there!!! Cheers, CallieOzgirl (Laurie)
  9. Do you know anyone or know anyone who knows someone who is affected by cancer? Do you want to get some good exercise in to help with your weight loss? Do you want to meet and bond with other bandsters? I am sure your answer is yes to all these questions!! I know it is for me and I am the Ceremonies Coordinator for the Southern Relay for Life that is happening on 21/22 of November at the beautiful McLaren Vale Sporting Complex. I would love to get some Adelaidian bandsters to form a team to do this walk. It is for a great cause, its a fun, party atmosphere, great exercise and great bonding time!! To find out more go to Relay For Life - Cancer Council Australia and click on SA's southern relay. PLEASE let me know if you are interested. Cheers, Laurie (CallieOzgirl)
  10. I was banded by Dr. Bessell just over 3 weeks ago so I have 5 more days of pureed/mushy food. I am so sick of it---what is next?!?! It says soft but how long for and does that include anything good? I am dying to crunch and chew!!! Please let me know, love to hear from you! Cheers, CallieOzgirl
  11. I am curious, how do you get the weight loss ticker thing?! Lost another 600 grams--yeah!! CallieOzgirl

    Hello Adelaidians--newbie here

Wow, that's great Trish! 27kg in 4 months!! Did you find before your first saline injection that you were able to eat anything? I have 3 more weeks to go before I see the doctor and I get my first fill--uugghhh!! I am really trying to be good. Thanks for the encouragement!! Cheers, CallieOzgirl
  13. Hi Sheree, I live in Glandore, that is great, you are close to me! Yes, I have started walking, and went to the gym once. I normally am a good exerciser but have had knee problems (torn meniscus and kneecap popped in and out) this past year (part of the reason for weight gain--this time!) so I have to take it easy which is hard for me. We should get together and walk!! I will send you a private message with my phone number on it (if I can figure out how to do it:unsure:) Cheers, CallieOzgirl
  14. Sounds like you are doing good. How are things for you now? It has only been 3 weeks for me. I am in the mushy stage with one more week until normal food but unfortunately I found out I can pretty well eat anything---gggrr!!! I have lost 10kg since the 2 weeks pre-op but it has slowed this past week. I'm in Adelaide as well, banded by Dr. Bessell, who did yours? Cheers, CallieOzgirl

    Hello Adelaidians--newbie here

Hi Leah28 & Trish, I am doing pretty well but am at the stage where I can eat smooth/pureed food but have unfortunately realized that I can really eat anything but just not a lot---gggrrr!!! :sad:It is so hard to stick to it knowing that. I have one more week then I see the nutritionist and will be on regular food. Did either of you have this problem controlling yourself?! My weight loss has really slowed down as well. Trying to stay positive--any input would be helpful! Cheers, CallieOzgirl
