  1. Hope your surgery went well!

  2. I am feeling the exact same way! I had my band removed and a gastric sleeve procedure last Tuesday, 1/31 and it has been SO difficult getting through these days and I still have 7 more! I fluctuate between being starving and feeling too full to even drink any protein. I had SEVERE lethargy two days ago and that has subsided somewhat. I'm no where NEAR ready to exercise but I do a walk around the block each day and I do a lap around the house each hour (using my apple watch "stand" reminder). I pureed cottage cheese and added it to cream of tomato soup and had that today and felt reborn! Good luck!!!

    Anyone with Aetna Insurance ???

I have Aetna - If you meet your BMI requirements, pass your psych eval and do your due diligence re: diet and preliminary weight loss you should be good to go. There are hoops to get through but no tricks - pretty straight forward. If you're SUPER worried, just call their pre-certification dept., they should be able to give you some info. Good luck!!!
  4. Hey everyone! Best of luck to us all!!!

Girls, Need Help ASAP With a Bra!

I find the BEST bras for working out (I do boxing) are those that zip up the front. I used to have DD's and got a reduction (before the band) and I still have C's and they too.....ummm.....bounce. The zip in the front bras are AWESOME! I've gotten them from Target before, but I know any large store would have them too (Macy's, JCP, Sears, etc). They are more expensive at places like REI and Sportsmart though. Hope this was helpful - sorry no links. I just know the "type" of bra that has worked for me in the past - forgot where I actually got them. Best of luck to you!
  6. Just be honest with your MD about the Water weight. If you have made an effort (which, losing 9 lbs. IS an effort) then your MD should understand. If it's an insurance requirement, that might be another story but try being up front and honest w/your MD. They are people too. I wasn't given a "set amount" of weight to lose, just that I "try" to lose weight and I did both. About 10 lbs. before surgery. I guess that was enough. I was banded on 7/20/09. Good luck to you and keep us posted!!!
  7. Me too, I have wine 3-4 times a week but only a glass or so because I can't handle anymore than that. I will also take small sips during my meal because sometimes I am just SUPER thirsty. And sometimes I don't wait the full hour after eating to drink something. I just guestimate. Otherwise, I think I'm good......oh yeah.....I hate to workout. But I'm gonna!
  8. I’m full from DRINKING! I wasn't hungry for lunch when lunchtime arrived so I took a walk, saw and smelled truffle fries people were eating at a nearby cafe, got hungry, bought a lemonade at the market, drank some and now feel completely stuffed. It was only LEMONADE (sweetened w/agave nectar). I was banded on 7/20 (10 cc's) and had my first fill on 8/25 (5 cc's). I was able to eat normaly on 8/25 AND yesterday. But today....no way. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
  9. Oh, no no! Sorry. It holds 10 cc's and was empty until 8/25 when my surgeon added 5 cc's. Is it possible to have delayed restriction? Weird.
  10. while they DO make me full, they also have a lot of sugar and carbs. just wondering if there is a healthier alternative out there. when i have to be someplace after work, i get these bars for dinner and feel like they might not be what i should be eating...... thanks!
  11. Thank you for all of the GREAT feedback! Somehow I knew they were too good to be good for me. :blushing: I'm gonna give those EAS bars a shot. :w00t:

    So happy!

Congrats! I'm fairly new (1 month out) and success stories are what I NEED to read right now. They are my true motivation. So, keep it up and I can't wait to read more!

    Hey!

I am one month out and had my first fill yesterday. I figured I would begin to have questions at this point (like WHY can I still EAT????) But seriously, I would like to connect with others who have had this procedure to get tips/tricks and keep myself in check. Anyway, they suggested I go here and introduce myself, so.......Hi!

    Hey!

Thanks Amy! Hey, my name is Amy too! I am hanging in there. I've taken to pretending I'm full and stopping eating when I feel like I should be full. Sometimes it actually works! Guess I better get my butt on that treadmill to speed things along. I'm going to check out your blog now... Thanks again for the support!
  15. Seriously! I get the SAME thing. I'm like, "Ok, you eat ONLY what is on this piece of paper FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE" and see how you like it. My nurse said, "If you want chocolate, eat chocolate. Just have a little and very infrequently so you don't feel as though you are denying yourself." People can be very judgemental and jealous and I think that is why they react with either sabbotage or extreme "food policing". As long as you are doing what is right and healthy for YOU, that is all that matters! PS - I was banded on 7/20, we're almost the same date!
  16. No, thank YOU for sharing your amazing story and pics. I'm inspired all over again.

    My first fill

wow! you are doing amazing! what is your strategy? are you like super disciplined??? anyway - congrats!!!

    My first fill

I had my first fill yesterday. I am banded w/a 10cc band and got 5cc's yesterday. I tolerate everything so far....much to my dismay. But my MD said that only 20% of patients get adequate restriction w/the first fill. She is super strict though and told me I HAD to wait another month to get my 2nd fill and to step up my exercise in the interim. fun.
  19. I was banded on 7/20/09 and had my first fill yesterday. I feel like I can still eat too much. I've lost 13 lbs. so far. I need to start exercising I guess.
