Anyone Have A Stitch At The End Of Their Incision Poking Out?
KyPeach replied to Sherri297's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had a couple poking out my biggest incision at my month check up. The PA just clipped them off against my skin. I don't think she was going to do anything because she said they were internal stitches that would dissolve, but I told her I so wanted to pull them out. I think that kinda freaked her out and she clipped them off flush with my skin. I'm now at 8 weeks and they have not poked back through. -

You look fantastic! You are gonna have a killer figure when all is said and done! Congrats! -
Congrats on your potential surgery date!! Are you going to schedule it for the 22nd?

If there's a Sally's near you...I suggest "Ion Repair Solutions" night repair. It says overnight repair, but I use it weekly after I get out of the shower. You just put a pump or two in your hand and massage it through your hair. No rinsing. I have curly hair that seems to get dryer as I age. This product has made my hair feel great again!

I started out planning for the band, although I did think it was kind of strange putting something foreign in my body. After much research I went with the sleeve. At my induction with my surgeon he said that there is such a large percentage of people having the band removed after 5 years he really didn't believe it anymore. I'm loving my sleeve. I can eat anything, just not a large qty of it. Food no longer rules my life!

I also had H Pylori and got to take the monster antibiotics. My preop was protein shakes, veggies, no carbs and protein everything including meat! If I was busy at work and got off late I would go to Golden Corral and pick up baked chicken. I didn't cheat once because I was so scared that my liver wouldn't shrink and they wouldn't to my surgery. I had eggs and bacon for breakfast (no toast) and it wasn't bad at all. Surgery went great and now at almost 6 weeks out I can eat pretty much anything. But only a little bit!
-
I'm a little over 5 weeks out. I stopped by a friends house last night. She was serving roast, carrots and rice. I ate some, but not much. I don't feel guilty; it was really tasty and I had no problems after eating. Prior to this surgery I would have had 2 plates. What I ate last night would fit on a saucer and I was satisfied. Viva la sleeve!

I was sleeved on 8/23. I've only lost a little over 15lbs since, but I lost 35 before. Apparently I lost all 50lb in my rear end. It hurts to sit down; I feel bones poking. Even my office chair at work hurts. I said something at my MD visit and was told that this is what everyone says! I have thought about taking a bath but I don't think I'm brave enough - yet!

3 Month Post-Op Visit
KyPeach replied to Robyn Owens-Miille's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I ordered some Sunkist protein shots on-line and have 1 every day as soon as I wake up. Kind of syrupy sweet, but they're only 3 ounces and have 25 grams of protein. Trying to reach 70 grams of protein a day seemed almost insurmountable at 1st, but with these it's not a problem. They also have some that are 24 grams that are maybe 1 ounce. That's what I meant to order! -
Check out www.khanacademy.org . You can pick any subject and start as basic as you need. It definitely is less traumatic for me than trying to have my kids explain anything! And of course it's online so it's there whenever you feel like checking something out. Good luck!

How Long Did Your First Stall Last :(
KyPeach replied to Curvy Girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery the day before yours and I've lost 11lbs since surgery. But nothing for almost 2 weeks. I was feeling totally bummed about this but I know I've lost inches. However, now that I've seen your post I know it's not just me! Guess we'll both be waiting out the stall... -
I live in Louisville. Going to Lexington wasn't like driving cross country, but it was a pain in the rear. I had been going to Bluegrass Bariatrics in Louisville and was a lot more familiar with Dr Oldham. I didn't know how I would feel about Dr Weiss. After meeting him and especially after going through intake, any reservations were gone! Have you done intake yet?
-
Dr Weiss did my surgery on 8/23 at CBH in Lexington because that's where my insurance required me to go. He is brilliant; my daughter calls him Dr Badass! I went home on 8/24. Felt great, still feel great. No complications and I would recommend them without reservations!

Post-Op Image Distortion.....
KyPeach replied to legal loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't lost enough weight to get new clothes. However, I am an expert at beating myself up! When I don't like anything in the mirror I cover up the area where my face would reflect. Then I can look at the outfit objectively (it's no longer me) and decide. Not saying it's healthy, just saying it works! -
Just reading this made me go get my tweezers!! I also have instructed my daughter, as my mother taught me, to tweeze if I'm ever incapable!

Tomorrow Is A Brand New Day - Pray For Me!
KyPeach posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery is tomorrow morning at 7:30am. I have never been a morning person, but I think there's going to be all kinds of changes on the horizon. So far, well since May, I have lost 32lbs. I have never been that successful with a food reduction plan. I won't call it a diet because I didn't change what I ate, just the quantities. I am both excited and some what terrified of my anticipated surgery. Finally. Finally I will get this weight off. The weight that has been weighing me down (pun intended) for years. I want to have fun with my daughters instead of always watching from the sidelines. I want to go see Wicked without wondering if my butt will fit in the chair. I guess that really sums it up: I want! I hope to have this changed to: I did! by next summer. Pls send prayers on my behalf! -
Tomorrow Is A Brand New Day - Pray For Me!
KyPeach replied to KyPeach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well its day 2 and I feel pretty good. I'm kinda hunched over when I walk, but oh well. I came home yesterday evening. I finally went to bed around 11, but got up to pee about every 2 hours. I bed it I weighed when I got home I would have had a 10lb gain. I weighed today and have lost another 3lbs. They gave me these Sunkist protein 2oz drinks w/24g of protein when I was in the hosp. They were good! I have looked everywhere but have been unable to find them locally so I order a bunch online this morning. I think I can have 1, 3 times a day and get my protein in for sure. Thoughts? -
I agree w/Darkkyss. I am on day 14 of my pre-op diet. I met with the surgeon after the 1st week and he said we could have baked meats and salads. Baked chicken has been my favorite this week! But it really does help shrink the liver and you want your liver out of the way to make surgery easier. Today is full liquids in prep for surgery tomorrow, but I think I will break this monotony with a sf popsicle!

Need Help Managing Major Back And Postoperative Pain
KyPeach replied to Newbie girl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
How is it taking your pain pills? My surgery is in a few weeks and my main concern is taking pills. When my back needs a muscle relaxer I need to be able to take pronto. I think as I get this weight off the need for the pills will be much less, but in the meantime... -
Susan, I had this exact conversation w/my sister-in-law last week. I'm getting har on the sides of my face? Anyway, she sent me to Sally's for a facial waxing kit. It's strips about finger size to do various facial areas. She said it's what she uses and it works great for her. Just a thought... Ga

But you don't look big enough to need the surgery - what's you BMI (or is that really rude to ask - I don't know) My BMI is >50 - It's not a matter of looking good - more of quality & quantity of life issue for me.
