  1. Okay...this might be one where the board goes, "Huh? Nope, you're the only one!" But I'm gonna test it anyway. About 2 weeks after surgery, when I lie down to go to sleep my legs start to get really anxious, like I need to get up and run. (If anyone has had Benadryl withdrawls, this is what it's like.) I have to constantly move them or it feels like I'm going crazy. My brain and eyes are tired, but my legs are WIDE awake. It lasts about an hour or two then stops and I can sleep. Along with it are randon nerve firings (little itchings)... on the bottom of my foot, then on my hip, then arm, then head, then side of foot, then a place on my back I can't reach, and so on. I have never had this happen and I really don't need to solve one problem (my big fat ass) and ease into another problem (insanity). Anyone know why this is happening? What it is, if it's not Restless Leg Syndrome? Happen to anyone else? ARRRRG!
  2. I got my fourth fill (half cc) on Thursday (5/6/10) and they had me drink some Water right after. All was fine went down, no problem. So I go home and have some Soup (based on what the nut said, I could have soup as part of my full liquids for 24 hrs) After the 3rd spoon...I was stuck...on soup. I tried to just wait it out...you know, the sliming, and strange little contractions your stomach does to get the food to go one way or the other. But after 2 hours and it never going down, I allowed it to come back up. After that, stayed on liquids, everything was fine. Then went to mushies...had fat free baked Beans. They are soft...basically dissolve in your mouth. Got stuck after 6 beans! I have been on liquids since, but the problem is that I can go for awhile just sipping water or fat free milk, but if I go for too long just swallowing saliva, I'll get a minor stuck feeling - can't get any fluids down - until I spit up the stuff in my pouch. Which is usually just foamy saliva. What's going on? Should I be a trooper and hope that my swelling will go down? At what point do you give up and call the doc for an unfill? I realy don't want to do that again. For 2 months prior to this fill, I gained 4 pounds. UGH!
  3. I called and talked with the nurse. When I told her I could only get milk and Water down, but not my own saliva or soft foods, she said they were totally open this morning and she would pull a little out. I needed the relief because I was tired of either spitting into a water bottle or eventually heaving up frothy saliva. Can't function like that. She removed .2 and I can tell I still am tight, but not too tight. Liquids move through with a slight gurgle. I feel so much better. I just didn't want to "fail" this fill, you know. The nurse said I'm one of the sensitive ones... and that's not a bad thing...it's just MY thing. Thanks for all the repsonses!

    i am soo mad!

Did you pay for these phantom fills? Wouldn't that be a fraudulent act on the doctor's part? You think you were the only one he's been doing this to? This should be addressed with him.
  5. I feel like a freak of nature. So I'm not losing weight. Doc says, "You're not getting enough Protein. Double it. No fill today." I call two weeks later. "I'm not losing weight. When should I see results from new protein levels?" Doc says, "You may not be getting enough calories. Add 200 a day. Oh and remember...measure yourself. You'll lose inches even though you don't lose pounds." In one week I've gained 5 pounds. And you know what I hate to do now? Exercise. It pisses - me - off. I'm like..."Um , why am I sweating and aching for no reason?" You know...when I first started, I was on that stupid liquid diet...lower calories and protein...lost 10 pounds. Now I'm not losing because I'm not getting enough protein and calories...gaining. WTF? I'm in the same size pre surgery that I am now. Oh, sure the clothes hang better... but can't fit in the next size down. I don't want my fat clothes to HANG better. I want to incinerate them. That's what. Feels like a nightmare.
  6. Yep, that's me! LOL
  7. I keep track of my calories and Protein. This is what the nut asked me to do. I am getting enough water...finally. I got a desktop reminder so that every ten minutes a thing pops up and tells me. I bet it's the exercise. This is the one thing I haven't been consistent with. You can't know how hard it is to NOT have faith in that. (Or maybe you can) Science tells us that it builds muscle and burns fat and all that, but my body has worked against the grain so long...I don't trust it to respond. However...the weather is getting nice so maybe I'll make my husband walk with me in the evenings. That's something.
  8. Before the LAP-BAND® I had my PCP check that just in case it wasn't only PCOS. My adrenal glands and thyroid are awesome. I will read the article, thank you.
  9. I have two anchors against exercise right now. One...for 13 years I worked my butt off (weight training, cardio, walking, dance classes, etc) with zero effect. I mean the scale didn't budge. So unfortunately for me, my butt is the exact same size. I learned that PCOS was the culprit. Two...my sudden recent 2 month stall has really darkened my mood. After years of exercise not working it's that much harder for me to do it now that it's STILL not working. Know what I mean?
  10. Oh yeah they're vague. I didn't even know I needed to get 60-70 Protein grams/day until 3 months after surgery. It's not the doctor per se, it's his nutritionist. I think he trusts her to deal with those things and so doesn't come in and repeat what he thinks she's already told me. I have a liquid Breakfast because I'm too restricted in the morning to put down solids. Muscle Milk Light Then usually 3-4 oz of meat. Tuna fish, pork loin, turkey meatloaf. I don't really eat fruits or veggies as a side because after the meat, I'm full. I'll have lowfat/fat free cheese as a snack (in order to get more protein and calories) I'll sometimes drink a glass of fat free milk. Sometimes a spoonful of low fat Peanut Butter. (NUT suggested that) dinner is a version of lunch. 3-4 oz of meat of somekind. We don't eat out and I cook lowfat. I'm not big on food. I've spent the last 13 years measuring and weighing and counting to no avail. Talk about tweaking! When I wouldn't lose weight, I would think, "Okay...maybe not enough this, or too much of that." Then I discovered I have PCOS... which means I've been beating a dead horse for 13 years. But that hasn't seemed to be the problem since the band. One of my problems (I think) is I'm not very creative when it comes to what to eat. I'll stand in the kitchen...just staring at it, going through the inventory in my head. "No, I don't want that...no, that's boring... no, I've eaten that five times in a row..." UGH! Clearly it's user error!
  11. ...That you cannot lose weight if you don't get enough Protein. You know, it seems almost common sense. But I went in for my appointment, not having lost any weight for a month (and losing more hair than normal). I was quite disheartened. The band is at a good restriction (don't know if it's the sweet spot yet) and my food choices are, for the most part, pretty good. I went over my routine with them and there in lies the problem. For awhile I was skipping Breakfast... band feels tighter, not a breakfast person. Sometimes I would skip lunch... maybe some almonds or my handful of Vitamins and PCOS meds I have to take! Normal dinner. I was getting around 30 grams of protein a day. The nutritionist was like "whoa! No, you should be getting about 60-70 grams per day.":scared2: I'm thinking..."gee, would have been awesome had you told me that bleeping THREE months ago!" So I've added Muscle Milk Light (15g) as breakfast and I'm gonna work on pushing my protein through the day. I just wanted to let people know... in case they find themselves in a similar situation. It's very frustrating when the body does exactly what you tell it to do, but you don't know you are telling it the wrong things.
  12. Banded about three and a half months ago... Three days ago I got stuck. I threw up. The next day, got stuck again. Threw up. For the last 2 days, when I lie on my back I sometimes feel a small sting under the left side of my rib. If I try to find the pain with my hand, it disappears. Could it be just soreness from vomiting or should I be worried further?

    A horrible night...

I think there is something going around! There was another thread about this I just read. My husband was throwing up ALL night last night and I'm praying I don't catch it. It must be strong too because he never gets sick. His friend and friend's wife were also heaving the last few days. Just fever and vomiting... :smile2:
  14. Yeah, I'm nervous about this. My husband has a stomach virus that's going around and I'm really hoping I don't get it. He was taking the anti nausea meds my doctor gave me when I was first banded and he was still throwing up. I know of a natural rememdy that works for my mother. If you have any cloves (the fresher the better), you can bite down on one of those to release the oil. They numb the gullet and stomach...great for nausea. Peppermint is also anti-spasmotic... helps to stop the waves to nausea. Good luck :smile2:
  15. I must add this... I got 73 grams of protein yesterday and ALREADY I feel awesome. I have so much energy today it's ridiculous. And that's on top of having started my period today. I never (I repeat, never) feel awesome and energetic for the first couple of days. So, PROTEIN is the SH*T, Baby! :smile2:
  16. I am sorry I missed those posts because I spent a whole month feeling like a loser. I was like, "How can I get a fill, get better restriction, and not lose an OUNCE of weight?":thumbup: Well, it's basically science, isn't it? So simple...yet so tough.
  17. I'm originally from San Angelo, but I'm livin' in Midland now...got banded in Odessa. My doctor is amazing and very kind.
  18. Okay...10 days after my vomity episode, I am still sore. It's ONLY when I'm sleeping on my back and stretching. In the middle of the night I will sometimes stretch (more like contract all my muscles) then roll to my side. When I contract it feels like I have major bruising under my ribs and it wakes me up. Now my doctor never told me that after a stuck and/or vomit episode I should not eat for a day. I just read that here. Could eating after (not right after, but the same day) an episode be keeping me sore? :bored:
  19. I'm on my 3rd fill, I've gotten stuck about 4 times (can't do beef apparently). I've only lost 3 pounds since the last fill top of March and that was because I was overfilled and couldn't hold down Water...so they took a little out. I'm confused...I can tell I have pretty good restriction because I'm eating less. The only thing that has changed since this last fill is I'm forgetting to drink water, and I'm not eating enough Protein. Could those 2 factors prevent weightloss?
  20. The unflavored Protein Powder can be found with the other protein powders? I didn't know it even existed. That sounds like a plan. Thank you!
  21. So I got my third fill, did the full liquid for 24 hrs like instructed. Then it was time to eat and since my last 2 fills didn't really do much, I was in the same mind set...eating wise. Yes, I take small bites and chew thoroughly, this I'm good at. But I got a very naughty urge to eat hot wings from KFC. I never do this BTW. I got on the highway, going 70 MPH and took a bite of the wing. Then my nightmare began. I got stuck for the first time. It felt like I was having a mild heart attack at the same time a vice was squeezing the top half of my spine. The salivating started (sliming, is it?) and my instinct is to swallow. So I'm swallow and swallowing and it's making it worse! My stomach is trying to burp but everytime it does it feels like solids, not gas that wants to come out. Finally after feeling like I was gonna drown in saliva, I grabbed the KFC bag and allowed my body to do what it was begging to do...throw up. Two big heaves later...normal. Nothing like hot wings the second time. I had saliva running down my chin and I'm so lost in this bizarre moment that i just dropped the bag to the floor of the car... and it promptly fell over...spilling its contents. Don't eat while driving (which I never do). Don't assume anything about a fill based on previous fills. Don't fight your body and the signs it gives you. Somebody please learn from this! Now...it's time for a nap. UGH.
  22. Yes, that is a good idea. AFTER the spill (and a little cursing), DH shoved a paper towel into it. Worked like a charm! Yuck!
  23. Yes, break them or crush them. I took my meds today after breaking them in halves and quarters. I think more often than naught, IF you get stuck on anything, it will be food that has not been chewed properly.
  24. OMG! You win, you win!! I'm laughing sooo hard (with you, not at you!). If anyone is curious...this is what sliming looks like. Exept without the ridiculous grin.
