I am 23 years old, and have always been big throughout my life. My being fat is part of what built my personality. Although fat, I have always been active. I danced, I was a cheerleader, I was in marching band, I played volleyball and basketball, and was very active, even for being fat. I was always told that I held my weight very well, because being tall the weight was distributed evenly. It wasn't until I became unhappy when looking at pictures of myself in my senior year in highschool, which I was a size 16, that I decided to take the journey with lap band surgery. Right now I am 343 pounds and a size 20-22, sometimes 24. I always told myself that if I went above a size 20 it was time to start losing weight. I have been on multiple diets, exercise regimines, and even went to the point of skipping meals thinking it would help. I would lose a few pounds at at time, but ultimately I gained it all back. I am at the point where I have accepted myself and I love myself, and in loving myself I know that I need to lose weight and be healthy, and that is what being banded will do.
