Lost Band Doc Forgot to Remove Port
Chapamar replied to kareyquilts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would have to question the expertise of the doctor. I'm guessing he put the second band in since he removed it for free? Sorry for your difficulties. -
Way to Go!!! I just hit 50 lbs. myself. It starts making it real.

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

It sounds about right jerseyb. If you have any redness, heat or discharge from your port site, that would be of concern though. -
FOOD, FOOD Everywhere, and only a drop we eat!
Chapamar replied to Chapamar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
EXACTLY Missy. I cook more now than I ever did pre-band. I try loads of new recipes and just want to do the whole process but actually eat it. I still eat a little but it's totally not about eating it, it's obsessing with it, I guess. The reading, the looking, the recipes, etc. So weird for me. And soocalchic. I unloaded my freezer this weekend and took it to my parents for Superbowl. The crowd there enjoyed all the Soup and pot roast. Hallellujah, I've found some takers. -

Also, and this may not be new to you, you should bring your own towels/washcloths to the hospital. This was a suprise to me as the hospitals in US provide them. But, I think it's a brilliant idea. -

TIS, you're acting like a douchebag. In fact you sound like an old woman having menopause. Feel free to leave the thread. -

If that's the same Chris that was in surgery at the hospital, I have to agree....he is yummy. I invited him and the rest of the team to come to the US to the beach with me while I was going under anesthesia. He's welcome anytime. -
I think I was around 35-40lbs. when my secretary told me to BUY SOME CLOTHES THAT FIT. haha Since I don't want to spend a fortune on temporary clothes, I have gone to Goodwill and found some good basic pants. I'll shop for tops but, it's the bottoms that I'm going through so fast.

September 2009 Band Date
Chapamar replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi to all. I was banded September 23 in Belgium and am now down 47 lbs. I am so happy. Have had three fills and had to go back for a small unfill because I was too tight. So, I'm looking for the sweet spot very soon. Congratulations to everyone. -
Losing my patience!!!!
Chapamar replied to new_journey4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A quick question if you don't mind, if you keep your current schedule, how long after banding would you be traveling? -
Hi all, I am a self pay patient living in the US who went to Belgium to have the band placed. For me, it was a great experience. In addition to the op, I incorporated a trip to Paris. Dr. Chris De Bruyne performed my surgery. He is very experienced and has been doing Lapband since the early 1990's. My package included all transportation to/from hotels and hospital, a hotel room for three nights, one night in the hospital, all pre-op and post-op testing, the procedure and all follow-up meds. As of 9/23/09, the package was $4000 Euros which roughly translated to $6,000 dollars. The one fact I did learn, and this is not to bash or boast, is that Belgium is using a new generation band which is on it's way to being approved in the US. Also, the bands being used by the surgeons in Mexico are the older generation bands that are (for the most part) no longer being used in the US. If anyone would like information, there is a thread here about Dr. Chris De Bruyne and also, I would be happy to answer any questions.

JulieRoddy, just want to let you know that I came in on Eurostar and the pick up from there was included in the standard package. I had a great experience. Hello all again, I pop in occasionally. I'm from the US and chose Dr. Chris because of his reputation, experience and fantastic price. As of 9/23/09, Dr. Chris had no mortalities due to LapBand. My experience was very good and I am so happy with the band. And again, thank you all for sharing your stories. It helped immensely when I was making up my mind to proceed. Cheers! -
September 2009 Band Date

I notice the hair loss but I started Biotin right at the time of surgery so the loss isn't noticeable because it seems to thicken the hair. I've done okay in terms of weight loss but have to start exercising more. Between the rain and cold I have backslid on my Couch to 5k program. I hit Onederland this week and am so happy. I want to NEVER see 200 on the scale again. My non scale victory was trying on old formals (Mardi Gras season coming up) and one that I had to actually get "wrapped" for (the seaweed wrap, suck you dry to lose a couple of inches) was actually so big I could take it off and on without unzipping it. Amazing. Very happy with my band. -
it makes me think of bacon

Is it Beyonce ?

You're still in the recovery process so I'm guessing this will not always be the case. But, if extreme tiredness and coldness persist, you may want to have your iron levels checked.

something isn't right....

Am I reading that your blood pressure went up after you drank orange juice? If so, you could have a problem with dehydration. Also, 102/54 is fairly low and you will feel the effects if you typically have a higher BP. As for sugar, not sure but, the only way to find out is by having it checked out. I would certainly get in for a check up to see what the problem might be. -
