Yes, I think you're ready! I also made the decision before I had my surgery that I was going to be selfish this year and do this for me no matter how it affected anyone else. Now, I do have a lot of support but I decided they will just have to put up with me talking about this surgery all the time. I've never been one to talk about myself so giving myself permission to dwell on me, me, me is a big step. Good Luck!

I don't think you're a failure either. Listen to those around you at work that have lost a lot and see what they are doing that you are not. For one thing, you don't want even healthy food that is going to slide down easy. Maybe that is one of your problems. Slider foods will sabatoge your efforts. Good Luck and don't ever give up!

After my ranting and raving yesterday, I was pleasantly shocked this morning to step on the scale and see I was down 2 lbs. It felt like magic time again! Maybe my anger scared the pounds off. Anyway, I'm certainly glad to be losing once again - I really didn't believe it and had to weigh myself 3 times this morning. It's probably good the plateau happened. Now I know when it happens again it really will end. Of course, my little voice of self doubt will be nagging at me till my weigh in next week so I can see it's REALLY over! Yay:thumbup: - what a relief!

So what's the deal. You go along week after week losing 2 lbs each week. Then, bam it stops. I know in my head that it is a plateau but my heart is all aflutter worried that "this is the end of the weight loss" All those warnings from the doctor and nurses that we can only lose 60% of our excess weight with the lapband are banging around in my head. It makes me mad. It was magic to me before. I'm really trying not to panic. I KNOW logically a plateau was bound to happen but I can't get rid of that little voice in my head telling me that this is the 4th week of no loss. I'm not eating any more than I was, I am NOT cheating and am still swimming an hour almost every day. (I have a knee that needs surgery and all I can do is swim right now.) POOOOOOOOOOP!!!!!!!! It makes me mad!

Get them to talk about plateaus at your support meeting and then let us know what they have to say!

That's funny, I have lost 66 lbs. I wonder if that is a natural place the plateau hits. You know I think I was scared the whole time that the loss would stop. I just have to believe that it will start again. I don't even feel I need a fill because I have good restriction and I'm not hungry for 4 hours after I eat. I'm doing just what I'm supposed to. I wonder how long plateaus last? Maybe they do last for several weeks. I really don't know because if I would hit one when I was just dieting I would pretty much give up and that would be it. Good luck to you too, it's true there are so many people on here that lose 100 and more lbs, I just have to believe it will work for us too!

I hear you! I was foolish enough to go see Julie and Julia a week and a half into my presurgery liquid diet. All that foooodddd!!!!!! -
I agree with debster, I've been reading your posts and you certainly have the right attitude to succeed. I'm excited for you!

Did he check you for diabetes?
-
For those of you that don't think you look any different, take some new pictures of yourself. You will be shocked!
-
Wow 3 hours and you were home! That's great and it sounds like you are doing very well. Now comes the part you've been waiting for - losing all the weight!

Good Luck tomorrow!

I know I paid for them, BUT I don't know if I want a fill.

You're doing so well right now I don't think I'd get a fill. You probably would get stuck more often and there would be more foods that you couldn't eat. I think as long as you are losing weight so well, there is no real reason to get a fill. Just my opinion -
Gee, empathy and compassion, that's what I like to see

This has me scared....
grizzlyrider replied to ausamerican33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go to a support group where almost everyone is bypass. They have a lot more problems, healthwise and maintaining their weightloss. Now there are only 4 of us that are banded but you would recogize us by our happy faces. It's a personal decision but I don't agree with the facts your friend wrote at all. -
You're not whining, the whole before surgery process is very frustrating. Keep on them, I discovered the doc's offices do not have the sense of urgency that we have. Good Luck!

I love "timmers" advice about eating the best part of the meal first. I also eat the least favorite part first and leave the best for last. Lately I have realized the same thing he did that you are full before you get to the best part so I've been trying to eat the best first. Often I only eat the best part - the heck with the rest! Great advice. Oh, and congratulations on the 50 lbs from the first post (and timmers too!) it's a great feeling isn't it!

PRE Op Diet Hard to follow
grizzlyrider replied to LOLA121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The liquid prediet is really hard. Think of it as practice for after. You will get more in tune with your body, you will KNOW you will not die if you don't eat till you are bursting and will have the satisfaction of having stuck with something very hard. I never would have thought I would have been able to do it either. My prediet was 5 carnation instant breakfast shakes with extra protein powder a day plus any other no cal clear drinks. It was hard but you can do it and I swear it will help you later on. -
Really weird question for those who have lost a significant amount of weight :D

OK, you're all going to love this. A few weeks ago my husband said he could not pick me out in a crowd becaue my HEAD was so much smaller. Now he did not mean my face, he was looking from the back but actually my head. Good Grief!!!!!! -

53 or 58 - it's still over half of what you need to lose! You're halfway there and definitely get some smaller clothes, you will really see the difference! Hang in there! -
I had gas but no gas pains. It was sore for about 2 weeks where my port is but once I figured out that was what it was and didn't worry about it, it wasn't so bad. I did take the pain meds they gave me (don't leave the hosp without them) but all in all, it wasn't so bad.

Good for you. When the whole ordeal is over and you have your surgery, it will help you to know that you stuck to your liquid diet without cheating. If you can do that you can do anything! My family tells me now that they knew I would do well with the band after watching me do so well with the liquid diet part. I guess it builds up your conviction! Hang in there!
