    Eat what you want!

You make a lot of good points, however I will say that sometimes I make suggestions to others who are having trouble losing weight. I don't think its as easy for everyone depending on their specific conditions or limitations. I do agree that I don't want to be one of those people who always has to count my calories or overanalyze every food.
  3. This previous post may help you. It was a question on the board a couple of weeks ago. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/sil-single-incision-lapband-106284/

    Okay, Help Please

Sometimes the strangest things will do this. I had a problem with egg beaters (lots of people apparently have issues with scrambled eggs), and sometimes tuna. I thought I was choking but if I walk around and slowly sip water it does eventually go down.
  5. I haven't yet but my surgeon definitely requires it. 10 days prior to my 3 month post op is the first set and he requires a CBC, Chem Panel, Lipid Panel, Vitamin D, Vitamin B-12, Thiamine B-1, Folate and Iron. It says make sure these are ALL drawn, none are optional. I think I have to get my blood drawn then again at 9 months. Even if your surgeon doesn't require it I would think it would be a good idea to get your PCP to do the tests anyway. If nothing else it would be good to see your numbers improve and as you said ensure there are no deficiencies. All my best, Kimberly
  6. No problem - I should add it to my signature file but I was banded on 11/20 so I understand what you're going through !:scared2:
  7. In my nutritional guide from my surgeon it does say you can up your ounces slightly until the first fill. I would just say do so gradually so you don't overeat but absolutely don't go over 8 oz at a time and that's in volume not weight. :scared2:
  8. Hi Carrie, I'll tell you what upset me most about your post. You said your doctor told you there is nothing more he can do. Excuse me? When I was going through the process of selecting a surgeon I was told to look for a doctor/practice that you would be with for life. They are there for you and are supposed to provide support to you. IF your doctor has already thrown in the towel on you then maybe you need to start working with another one. I know that goes against what some people say but if you aren't getting it removed then the very least you can do is at least go to a practice where there is a support system and someone who will try to get you to where you need to be. That's just my opinion, I know but those are the words I really picked out of your statements. I'm sorry you are going through this - I hope there is light at the end of this journey for you and you can keep the band and feel happy about it!
  9. Hey all, tonight on the local Denver news on NBC (which is shown either at 9pm or 10pm in your area) my surgeon Dr. Michael Snyder from the Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery at Rose Medical Center is supposed to be on talking about surgery. Not sure of the specifics but I have been waiting to see what this is about because the day of surgery I was asked to sign a waiver become 9News was doing a story. I was told that perhaps my abdomen would be on TV (haha) but absolutely no identifiable info would be shown. I'll be interested to see what is shown and if I can tell if I am any part of it. :-O
  10. Heheh - so did I. I wonder what he's going to be talking about....we shall see
  11. Hi everyone. I'm Kimberly and I was banded on November 20 by Dr. Michael Snyder in Denver, CO. EVERYTHING has been going so great. I honestly had to check to make sure I had surgery when I woke up in recovery to see an incision to believe it because I had no pain. The gas pains of course over the next week but all in all so thankful. I'm still on soft foods through the week but I'm doing really well. EAting on a schedule seems to really help me stay on track and stave off the hunger. My first fill isn't until January 4th so I just have to keep on doing what I'm doing until then.

    Piercing pain on the left

YES I had the same thing. I had it for about 10 days and then it vanished. I know what you mean though. It was sooo annoying. The worst part of the whole process in my opinion. For me, laying down helped - even on that shoulder. Hang in there!
  13. I had surgery 11/20 with Dr. Michael Snyder in Denver. Also had the SILS. One cut in the belly button area which is great because once healing is complete you won't even see it. Two very minor incisions under my chest. Not sure what they are for, maybe like another poster said for liver assistance and also port placement as my port is very close to one of these. They will probably fade away to nothing as they are tiny. Very happy. Yes it does appear this is a very new procedure. Surgeon told me at initial consult that he would only be doing one and then the minors cuts. I have to say though..I'd be a little hesitant to go to any surgeon that tells you "I'm new to this". I ensured that the surgeon I picked was well researched and experienced before committing. You are with your surgeon and practice for life. Just think about that.
  14. Okay - just wanted to check. I recognize surgeon's have varying instructions. Hang in there though - its the bandster's hell we all hear about. Once you start getting your fills I doubt that sandwich is gonna fit :w00t:
  15. My surgeon doesn't want me eating bread at all. Very carb restricted, very specific diet. Do you not have one of those? Just curious - I know not all doctors are the same.
  16. Hey again - I found another interesting website. You might want to check your symptoms against what is written here. Lapband Allergy Symptoms | eHow.com
  17. I have heard that this is very rare. I did a quick search and found someone else that has complained of this before. You might check out this thread. I hope you find out something soon. I can imagine it is really frustrating. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/allergic-reaction-band-76602/
  18. I've seen many people refer to something called PBs. I have no idea what that means. CAn you someone help me out?

    Question

Thanks, I'll remember that. I don't really eat out much so hopefully it will be a little while before I have to worry about that.

    Question

Oh Lord. I'm going to hope not to have that!

    Question

    Apparently no one knows. LOL.
  22. I don't know if this is related but my surgeon makes everyone go off birth control pills/medications for a month before and 2 months after surgery. The meds can promote clotting so perhaps it has some type of altering effect. Don't know for sure but I'm thinking it is somehow related.

    Glue

I have the same thing. I had surgery on 11/20 and today I was looking at the incision thinking that my surgeon told me not to touch it but its clearly starting to flake off. Do I have to get more glue or is the natural healing process just doing its job? I think its the latter. I wouldn't worry too much about it. When you go for your follow up I'm sure they will have a look and if anything needs to be reapplied they will take care of it.
  24. Its more than likely you just haven't hit your sweet spot yet. Once you do everything will be great with your band! Hang in there!
