You make a lot of good points, however I will say that sometimes I make suggestions to others who are having trouble losing weight. I don't think its as easy for everyone depending on their specific conditions or limitations. I do agree that I don't want to be one of those people who always has to count my calories or overanalyze every food.

Sometimes the strangest things will do this. I had a problem with egg beaters (lots of people apparently have issues with scrambled eggs), and sometimes tuna. I thought I was choking but if I walk around and slowly sip water it does eventually go down.

I haven't yet but my surgeon definitely requires it. 10 days prior to my 3 month post op is the first set and he requires a CBC, Chem Panel, Lipid Panel, Vitamin D, Vitamin B-12, Thiamine B-1, Folate and Iron. It says make sure these are ALL drawn, none are optional. I think I have to get my blood drawn then again at 9 months. Even if your surgeon doesn't require it I would think it would be a good idea to get your PCP to do the tests anyway. If nothing else it would be good to see your numbers improve and as you said ensure there are no deficiencies. All my best, Kimberly

In my nutritional guide from my surgeon it does say you can up your ounces slightly until the first fill. I would just say do so gradually so you don't overeat but absolutely don't go over 8 oz at a time and that's in volume not weight. :scared2:

Hi Carrie, I'll tell you what upset me most about your post. You said your doctor told you there is nothing more he can do. Excuse me? When I was going through the process of selecting a surgeon I was told to look for a doctor/practice that you would be with for life. They are there for you and are supposed to provide support to you. IF your doctor has already thrown in the towel on you then maybe you need to start working with another one. I know that goes against what some people say but if you aren't getting it removed then the very least you can do is at least go to a practice where there is a support system and someone who will try to get you to where you need to be. That's just my opinion, I know but those are the words I really picked out of your statements. I'm sorry you are going through this - I hope there is light at the end of this journey for you and you can keep the band and feel happy about it!

Hi everyone. I'm Kimberly and I was banded on November 20 by Dr. Michael Snyder in Denver, CO. EVERYTHING has been going so great. I honestly had to check to make sure I had surgery when I woke up in recovery to see an incision to believe it because I had no pain. The gas pains of course over the next week but all in all so thankful. I'm still on soft foods through the week but I'm doing really well. EAting on a schedule seems to really help me stay on track and stave off the hunger. My first fill isn't until January 4th so I just have to keep on doing what I'm doing until then.

Hey all, tonight on the local Denver news on NBC (which is shown either at 9pm or 10pm in your area) my surgeon Dr. Michael Snyder from the Denver Center for Bariatric Surgery at Rose Medical Center is supposed to be on talking about surgery. Not sure of the specifics but I have been waiting to see what this is about because the day of surgery I was asked to sign a waiver become 9News was doing a story. I was told that perhaps my abdomen would be on TV (haha) but absolutely no identifiable info would be shown. I'll be interested to see what is shown and if I can tell if I am any part of it. :-O

YES I had the same thing. I had it for about 10 days and then it vanished. I know what you mean though. It was sooo annoying. The worst part of the whole process in my opinion. For me, laying down helped - even on that shoulder. Hang in there!
