Call your surgeon. Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  3. I haven't heard of it before. I would call the person that handles the insurance at your surgeon's office and get them to explain it. Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  4. I don't know what insurance you have, but Cigna will not let you get out of their 6 month supervised diet at all. Peace Out! T~:hippie:

    "HURLCHUPS" Anyone?

I think this is what most bandsters refer to as a PB or productive burp. Peace Out! T~

    I can still eat???

I beg to differ...I am a retired X-ray technologist and an Esophagram WILL visualize the entire length of the esophagus, INCLUDING the distal portion that inserts into the stomach. During fluoroscopy, the radiologist will visualize the superior portion of the stomach where the fundus has been sutured to the esophagus. If this area is inflammed or if the band has slipped, the doctor will be able to determine this during the procedure. He may or may not be able to "see" any adhesions "per se" but, if you have them, he should be able to tell based on the movement of the barium you drink. Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  7. I agree! Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  8. On the 6th of June, I will be smoke-free for 6 months. For me, I just made my mind up and layed them down. My husband has been smoke-free for almost 6 months as well, but he had to use Chantix, it is a new smoking cessation medication (very expensive). It is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for him (he has smoked 3 packs per day for 25 years). He did not even want to quit smoking, had NO desire, but he agreed to JUST take the medication. Within 2 weeks he noticed that cigarettes began to not taste good. Within 1 month, he went from 3 packs per day, to 10 cigarettes per day. And within 6 weeks he had completely stopped. This medication works so well because it stimulates the nicotine receptors of your brain and therefore when you quit smoking you have absolutely no withdrawal symptoms. I HIGHLY advise this medication if you are having a hard time quitting. And yes, it is expensive, but still cheaper than the cost of cigarettes! Peace Out! T~:hippie:

    Please help, where to start?

They should be able to tell you your participating providers, or you can ask if the surgeon whose seminar you are interested in attending is covered by your policy. If he/she is a participating provider, go to the seminar first and they should be able to direct you as to your next step(s). My surgeon provided an entire portfolio with a plethora of information that was extremely beneficial for the pre-op process. By the way, what insurance do you have? Peace Out! T~:hippie:

    Illegal aliens

Wasabubble....my grandmother says this very same thing. Makes it sad to know that another civil war is a VERY distinct possibility. Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  12. ???? What does that have to do with anything. You originally said you weren't lucky about having zero complications with your surgery because the reason you had no complications was because you did your research. If all docs have complications, yes I know, not with every patient, then why in the world would you NOT consider yourself lucky to have not been one of the "unlucky" ones? That's all.... Peace Out! I need a laptop and I need advice. Help!

Dell all the way...I am using a Dell Inspiron as we speak. I bought in March and use it hours a day with no problem! Peace Out! T~ :hippie:
  14. You have contradicted yourself from the beginning... You were lucky that you happened to be a patient that did not have complications since "all docs have complications" am I right? Because if "all docs have complications" and your doctor did not have a complication in you, does that make you "unlucky"...I think not! Lighten up a little. Peace Out! T~:peace:

To Spank or not to Spank

Hang on everyone, I said for the most part children have horrific behavior. There is an exception to every rule. Be thankful that you happen to have a child that is one of the exceptions. Peace Out! T~:hippie:

To Spank or not to Spank

I could not agree more! However, there IS a difference between spanking and violence against children. LOL! Peace Out! T~:hippie:

To Spank or not to Spank

AMEN!! Let me tell you all that I am a 7th grade teacher and if you could all witness the DAILY occurences of HORRIFIC behavior that I do, you would all be advocates of corporal punishment. Children today, for the most part, are so awful to their peers and elders that it would BLOW your mind! When I was in middle school, we did not behave in this manner. In fact, we wouldn't even fathom behaving in this manner. The one major difference I see between myself as a child and kids of today is, most parents don't spank anymore. I was spanked as a child, not "smacked" or beaten. I was spanked for misbehaving only, not mommy and daddy taking out their anger on me. After each spanking, my parents would discuss with me again why I had been punished. I can tell you that after being spanked, I did not repeat the behavior that had caused the spanking in the first place. I learned cause and effect very quickly, just like the hand on the hot stove analogy someone else used earlier. Spanking in the manner I have just described is NOT abuse and never will be. Just "talking" to your kids about their behavior and having them continue the behavior leads to the exact same kids that I teach everyday. That is abuse if you ask me. Peace Out! T~:hippie:

    EVILAH IS APPROVED! (and how)

Evilah, Congratulations on your approval!! Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  20. Kacee, My surgeon's office told me that if you meet their criteria and submit ALL paperwork they require, that usually they will approve. Make sure that you have all of your ducks in a row prior to submitting. If your Cigna plan requires supervised weight loss for 6 months, then yes, you will have to complete that. I know it sucks...I too felt that it was useless to once again fail at a diet, but that is their requirement. I also included a detailed chart that listed all of my past diet attempts, you know the whole gamut, with beginning and ending weights, the diet type, exercise, and how many pounds lost. I really feel like this helped with my approval. Good luck! Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  21. My approval decision took 2 1/2 weeks from the time Cigna received the paperwork. Peace Out! T~:hippie:

    June 2007 Bandsters

Well wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing. It looks like a way better than me. My surgery is in a little over 3 weeks and I am having my last supper this weekend and then the real stuff will start on Monday. I know, I said I would start before, but I changed my mind. With Mother's Day coming, I decided it would be easier to start then. I know I would beat myself up anyway if I wasn't 100% compliant, and I am tired of that. I will log on Monday to let you know how I am doing. Keep your fingers crossed... To all of you who have been compliant...WAY TO GO!!!!!:clap2: :cheer2: :banana Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  23. Thanks to all who responded with encouragement, support, and understanding. Just when I think I am a looney for feeling the way I do, I realize that I am really pretty normal...and it's OK to be feeling these feelings! Peace Out! T~:hippie:
  24. Hey everyone, I am scheduled to be banded on June 4th. Here lately I have been doing a lot of soul searching and I am in the need of support. My thing is that I am a chronic over-eater...usually out of bordem, but sometimes depression as well. I know that the band should help me with some of that, but I will have to address those issues too if I want to be successful. I have dieted so many times in my life and have usually been successful, only to regain plus more for various reasons. (I know you all know where I am coming from.) The last few times that I dieted, I would eat well, drink 80 ounces of Water a day, and exercise only to find that in a weeks time I had not lost ANY weight! In fact, sometimes I would gain. So then I would be so depressed that I would start shoveling any and everything in my mouth. I am so scared that after I am banded that even though my caloric levels will drop and I will be exercising, that I will not lose any weight. Is this even possible? Did any of you have these feelings prior to being banded? How do I work through this? Also, while I have you here...after you are banded and you eat a meal, do you stay full feeling for a long time? What is a typical days worth of meals for you? Approximately how many calories do you take in a day? And how in the world do you get enough Protein in your diet? OMG...I am freaking out. I just don't want to be a failure...I just can't fail at this! Sorry this is so long...any suggestions, comments or advice would be so much appreciated! Peace Out! T~ :hippie:
