Insurance requires 6 month physician visit...
tanderson replied to Kimmie's topic in Insurance & Financing
Sorry faith...it is fraudulent BIG TIME!! see quote from http://www.thedoctors.com/pdf/riskmanagement/J3223.pdf Never add anything unless you write a separately dated and signed note. The patient, a third-party payer, or a plaintiff’s attorney may have obtained a copy of the patient’s original records. The entry date for ink or type can be accurately determined retrospectively, and any alteration after the fact will seriously compromise the defense of your case. -

Good question....I don't necessarily believe that abortion is a "bad" thing, because in very bad situations, it can be a truly "good" thing, such as in rape or incest. However, for me...I would never consider having an abortion because I was too lazy, too careless, too poor, (whatever) to take proper birth control measures...and I would never have an abortion just because the "timing" wasn't "right". That being said, not all women are me and all women should have the right to decide (i.e. pro choice) what is right for them. -

THANKYOU LAUREND.... 396...remember that abortion is LEGAL in our country and in my opinion, most men who have a problem with this issue are those men who have problems with women telling THEM what they (the women) will or will not do with their (the men) "seed"...I again do not believe in abortion, but I do believe that a woman is entitled to make the choice of what happens with HER body, not yours, not your wife's, not your sister's, HER body...c'mon people, wake up here... Peace Out! T~:hippie: -

tanderson replied to Bamalama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bamalama, there are many bandsters on this forum who have met goal. Go to the before and after picture page and check them out. I'm not sure about the statistics, but I know it CAN be done!! Peace Out! T~:hippie: -
I am getting cold feet about banding!!
tanderson replied to MariaS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maria, I totally agree. My surgeon tells all of his patients this at his seminars..."If you have decided to have the lap band because you want to "look" better, then you need to get up and leave. Lap band surgery is there to help people regain their health, not their figures...that's just a nice side effect." Peace Out! T~:hippie: -
Tracy, I had that same problem, but with a lot of soul searching, research, and praying, I finally decided that the band was for me. It is a very personal decision. I actually had to list all of the pros and cons for both operations to make my decision easier. In the end, I know I have made the right choice and look forward to my new life! Good luck on your decision making!! Let us know what you decide! Peace Out! T~:hippie:

Good luck as you embark on your new journey! Peace Out! T~:hippie: -
Allure, I read your post and I have to say that I am very impressed with your coping skills. You did an awesome job this weekend of staying on plan. I think you should give yourself a great big pat on the back. I also think that you turning to your book, "Thin for Life", is a wonderful replacement for overindulging! You are making very important changes that will become habits for you before too long. Remember it takes 30 days to form a habit, so hang in there. Keep posting as well. I recently quit smoking and I know if it hadn't of been from my online support group, I would have never made it. Congrats to you my dear!! Peace Out! T~:hippie:

Welcome bandonme...I know about waiting. After 18 months, I am excited to say that I will be banded on June the 4th. I have 119 pounds to lose, actually 115 now as I have lost 4 pounds the last month without even trying, go figure...(maybe all the stress and or excitement!) Good luck with your journey. Peace Out! who supports right to choose
tanderson replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well...I don't really know what to say. I know it is a rhetorical question, and I am very glad to see you say you would be compassionate to someone if they had an abortion in a rape situation. I too agree that lack of compassion is in order for those who abuse this procedure as a means of birth control. However, I find it so difficult to believe that any woman could even fathom carrying the product of a brutal rape. I know it has happened before, but it just blows my mind...that is why I am so thankful that we have legalized abortions. I would hate to know that someone I loved, who had been impregnated by a rape (or worse, incest), would have to carry the infant to term and be reminded on a daily basis for the REST of her life, of the brutality. Makes me shudder to think about it...makes me awfully sad to know that there have been those who have endured this...makes me wonder what happened to the children. If the woman opted to keep the child, wouldn't she at some point have to tell? Gosh...what a horrible thought. That being said, your answer seems a little "Polly-Annaish" if you will, to me. Yes, in a perfect world, there should not be abortion. But in our world, how many times have unwanted pregnancies resulted in sheer tragedy and heartache? I worked at Texas Children's Hospital years ago and I saw my fair share of horrific abuse to children. No, I'm not saying that all unwanted or unplanned children or abused, but some are. It is the individual that sanctifies the idea of "life" ...cancer cells are "living", but you don't see anyone trying to "save the cancer". Look, all I am trying to say is IMO, abortion SHOULD be legal. IMO, NO ONE, has a right to tell a woman that she HAS to carry a pregnancy to term...NO ONE...(and fyi, I have never been raped or had an abortion) Peace Out! T~:hippie: -
WABB, give me a break and while you're at it, get a life! Peace Out! T~:hippie:

What does the lab work and history/physical consist of
tanderson replied to luvinke's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Usually you will have a cbc, hemoglobin, hematocrit, ekg, and chest x-ray...possibly a upper gi (depending on your surgeon). The history part is simply the doctor gathering pertinent medical info on you and also any family history you might have that might be necessary to know for anesthesia. Peace Out! T~:hippie: -
Laurend, sorry to hear about your owie.... Edie you are too funny! Peace Out! T~:hippie:
