I feel your pain too! I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. I have to do it 3 full weeks before surgery. The first 3 days were the hardest, I agree with another post I think you need more protein and less sugar, I bet that will help your head.

I am on day 3 of a 3 week liquid diet now. I am grumpy and get headache every day around noon - 1pm then it passes and the hunger sets in. Nights are the WORSE!

Well here is my update. The surgery was canceled at the very last minute. My husband was all gowned up, IV in, they had given him all his meds (not the anesthesia yet) And a nurse came in and said the Dr. has ordered some blood work. OK, odd so they drew some blood we waited about 1/2 hour then they came in with results, said his sodium was low, his sugar high and his white blood cells elevated so they needed to cancel. It was an emotionally exhausting day we were at the hospital at 7am and didn't get home till 3pm. Now we are in limbo, the dr's want to check his past medical records and run some more tests. We will re schedule but for when we don't know. My husband might wind up with my surgery date unless they can get him in sooner. I started my liquid diet today so if I am postponed it will be wasted. Also my husband is still on a liquid diet till they can re evaluate. It really was a great catch because low sodium can lead to heart attacks and stroke so elective surgery was not a good idea. I swear I love this team at UCSD they are so on top of everything and so advanced, but that goes with any "research institute". Anyway so LONG story short right now we are both cranky and on liquid diets and have no idea what is next. The only good thing is that we trust our team so we will see.

Triggers...hmm lets see, everything. I always want to eat but because it tastes good and I enjoy it so, I never seem to get that full feeling either....so I eat way too much portion wise. Night is very hard after our son is asleep (around 7pm) we love to snack on candy. Those days are over for sure but nights are still the worse.

I am so jealous of you guys with no pre op diet at all. I am on 3 full weeks of straight CLEAR liquids. The only creamy anything I can have is 2 protein shakes a day. My husband is on it now, surgery is THIS Wednesday (so he still has 3 ull days) and he has lost 20 pounds! My pre op diet starts the day of his surgery.

Hi Dana, I will be banded the 21st! My pre op diet starts next Thursday and will be on liquids only for 3 weeks. My husband has been on his liquid only for 2 weeks now and is doing great...I am so proud and amazed at his incredible will power and determination, he's my true inspiration. I have always been heavy, my Mom remembers counting calories for me at about 8 to get some weight off. My highest was about 310 (to tell you the truth I am not exactly sure after I got on the scale and it was 300 I stopped weighing. I might have been bigger than 310 but I just have to guess). So I have done a lot on my own but after the baby I just didn't loose (I had gotten down to 204). So now I am looking forward to being about 150-160 and keeping it off. For me the band is not only about loosing but then being able to MAINTAIN!

Getting closer for me! I start my pre op diet in 6 days AND my hubbie is getting banded this Wednesday! 5 days away!

Hello, Well I am only a few days into my pre op diet and I feel like (pardon the French) CRAP :w00t:. Weak, lazy, tired, no energy at all. I have to be on this crazy diet for 3 weeks, how did you guys make it? I can oly have 3 shakes a day, a yogurt, popsicles, water, and one cottage cheese. I feel like I am going to pass out most of the day. I had the runs all night last night :blushing: and just cant kick this bla feeling. Does it get better?

Go to an OBGYN. I dont think it has anything to do with your band. I have had irregular periods my whole life too, so I have also had lots of tests. Everything is fine with me but I am aware of what "might be" with the bleeding you are having now. Call your OBGYN and make sure you are OK.

I know I will be able to have those things again someday so I am not worried. I just wont be able to eat the portions I used to. I had dinner out with a friend not long ago who had a bipas. She ordered a t bone steak, mashed potatoes & a salad. She even had desert, but she only ate like a 1/4th of the meal.

OK I am officially frustrated. The scale is not moving. 2 weeks tomorrow I started my pre op diet, a week into it my surgery date changed so I was able to eat again. I lost 9 pounds the first week and now nothing. I am drinking a shake for breakfast and an iceopure for lunch and then a small dinner (and I mean small...trying to gear up for the after surgery meals) And I weighed this morning and still nothing. This is so annoying!:bored::cursing::smile2:

Tim....you will be able to eat everything you once did in time.....just not in mass quantities! And that's a good thing. A friend of mine had the sleve about a year ago and has lost all his weight. He still eats what he wants but now is more than satisfied with a 1/2 or a 1/4 a hamburger or one small slice of pizza.

Wow...a big price difference, I get the first 4 fills included then they are $250 evey following fill. But it will all be worth it....I know it. My husband will banded in 2 weeks then my turn!

Greetings! My surgery is October 21st also! So nice to find some people with the same date! How long is your pre op diet and what do you need to eat? Or not eat I should say....I am on full liquids for 3 weeks! AHHHH :thumbup:

Oh boy do I know how you feel! We are in about the same boat weight loss wise and I have 2nd and 3rd thoughts ALL the time. My husband is being banded on the 30th and is a diabetic too. I think because of the diabetes I am more comfortable with his surgery than I am with my own. We are all cost out of pocket as well and that weighs on my mind very often. He needs it but I want it...is that fair? Then I just go back to being scared. The only thing I can say is that I am hoping I will wake up one of these mornings and just know its right (or wrong) for me. Originally I was going to get mine on the 30th too.....I woke up one morning and just knew it was wrong and I needed to be 100% to get my husband through it first. I hope that happens again.

I will be banded by Dr. Horgan at UCSD. Just checking to see if tfhere are any other UCSD'ers on this site. I would love to chat.
