Is this going to work for me?

I'm so glad this thread was started! I've hit a plateau, myself, and have been going between 243-245 since right after surgery a month ago! Like you, I did better pre-surgery! :-) Good to read that it's common!

    2.5 Weeks post op

Hi, Minnie! I was banded 8/17. I was also told to keep up with the walking. I can increase the walking as I feel up to it. I will be considered "healed" at 6 weeks post-op and can start an excercise routine at that time. Especially NO abdominal muscle use! Happy walking! :-)
  6. Hi, Joshesgirl! I don't have an answer for you...I just wanted to say "hi", because we have a lot in common! I was also banded on Aug 17th, also lost 8lbs post surgery, also getting first fill Oct 6th! Only difference is that my surgeon moved me from clear liquids to solids, skipping over mushies. I still find myself eating a lot of the mushies, though. I have found that I like to eat scrambled eggs with cheese, and chicken salad (not together). Good luck to you!
  7. Hello, all! I feel like I know you all...I read all the posts everyday! Tomorrow will be my 2 week "bandiversary". My 2 weeks has gone fairly well, considering what a lot of you have been through! I am still hurting in the port area and that one incision, but I understand that's normal. I go out about every other day, that seems to kick my butt for the next day - Is that normal? How long before I can get over the oh-so-tired feeling? A couple other questions I have, are generated from reading other posts... My doctor skips the mushies stage, and moves from 1 1/2 weeks of CLEAR liquids (no protien shakes or anything else during this time, ONLY clear liquids), then into regular foods on the approved diet, and I can now start my vitamins and supplements. I've read a lot of you "slime" and "PB". I think I understand the "PB", although, knock on wood, it has not yet happened. What exactly is sliming? Also, even on regular foods, I eat very, very little. I try to get the proteins 3x per day, but so far, it's about 2x per day. Given I've only been at this for a couple of days, my average food intake may be something along the lines of 1 scrambled egg with cheese for one meal, and a few tiny bites of chickensalad (no bread or anything, just the chicken & mayo) for another meal. The rest of the day, I sip at water. So HOW, eating that little, do we get our calories?? I can't even get in the amount of water I'm supposed to have, I can't imagine eating any more. I'm not complaining, not trying to sound down - I'm feeling for all of you in worse shape than me! I'm looking forward to "fast-forwarding" a couple weeks from now, but in the meanwhile, I want to make sure I'm doing things right. Thanks for taking the time to read all of this! Sorry so long!
  8. I would definitely write out, in full description like you did above, and mail it to your doctor. Mark the envelope "Personal and Confidential", and in the letter, state that you would like him to confirm that he did recieve your letter. (Most offices have a staff person who opens mail, so you want to make sure it gets to him, not the negligent staff!). He may be very busy and not quite realize what is going on with his staff, or at least, to what extent. With your letter, he has an eye opener, and can hopefully prevent other patients from having to go through what you went through. Best of luck to you!

    Splenda

I see a neurologist, and he has said that in general, artificial sweeteners are not good for you. So I do try to do real stuff in moderation, however, now that I have the band, there are no guarantees what I will do, right? I will still try to stick with the neurologists suggestions. My grandmother used to say, if one thing doesn't get you, another thing will!

    vitamins post-op

I hate to sound ignorant, but I guess I really, I am...I am 6 days post-op. Why chewables? Easier to digest? Quicker to get into system? Are pills okay or are they a no-no? Thanks!
